Looking back: Jon Snow's remarkable 45-year career 

I just can't imagine channel 4 news without Jon. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed.

I'm 53. John Snow has always been a newscaster/journalist during the course of my teenage and adult life. My best wishes to him for his retirement.

Snow's integrity was second to none. One of the few who manage to reach a position of relative influence whilst keeping their humanity. Will be remembered!

It's a shame that Jon is stepping down... Thank you so much for the memories, Jon!

Jon Snow is going to be sorely missed. Channel Four News will never be the same without him in the presenter's chair. To be part of the programme's history for the 32 years he has been part of speakes volumes. What an incredible journalist, who has brought many many special moments down the years. When the show went on air and he appeared on the screen every evening, its like watching the main event. The famous opening introduction, the colourful iconic ties and the special closing line, etc. He truly is special and as I said before, Snow is going to be very, very hard to replace. He has served both ITN and Channel Four with incredible high-quality distinction and is a testament to UK television as a whole. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful memories and bringing the news to the viewers, Jon.

What an absolute legend this man is - a fantastic broadcaster, a witty and charming character and a down-to-earth and sympathetic nature. There are so many instances of him being utterly brilliant over the years - a particular favourite of mine being him freestyling a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Jeremy Paxman outside the BBC when he left Newsnight 😂 He's irreplaceable. PS - I wholeheartedly recommend reading 'Shooting History', his autobiography from a few years back - it was so good that I finished it in two days. You really got a sense of how much he cares about the people and events he has reported on over the years.

I love watching John snow. I’m 30 and I have been watching jog snow ever since my late teens. I remember meeting him in Egypt while I was on holiday and I said to him your John from channel 4 he said yes but he did not stop for a second I guess he was in a rush.

I've got to say that Jon was totally stitched up when he was given his first hit of weed. They gave him the equivalent of a bottle of vodka in a clinical environment. It's no wonder he took a whitey and hated it. Next time, Jon, let me invite you round, dim the lighting, sit you in a comfy chair and put on some music of your choice. You might still whitey, but you won't hate it.
