Between Jim and Payton, plus Michael Jordan, the 80's were great for Chicago sports fans.

His spirit made him a Chicago Bear 🐻! He got it done! I miss the 85 Bears.

He was having an excellent season in '84 before the lacerated kidney vs Raiders ended it. Bears made it to NFC championship before not having a competent QB caught up with them. If you go back and look at the early season games from '85, the offense led by McMahon were winning games for them. They trailed in 4 or 5 games early that season and he brought them back to win. Best QB the Bears have had since Luckman.

The first week of 1985 Bears came back on Tampa Bay and I knew something was special. And it was Mcmahon who brought the team back.

Jim Mcmahon suffered too many injuries in his career. But those who saw him play knew he was an above average qb. In my lifetime as a Bears Fan, he was the best qb I've seen.

Haters who call him average or a game manager just don't get it.

Yep. Coming out of College, he was physically more talented than Joe Montana.

McMahon won a Super Bowl despite not being born with any of the tools expected of an NFL quarterback. Halas was right; he was too small, he couldn't see well, and his arm wasn't elite. But he had grit.

He was a better athlete than given credit for. You can see that when he throws on the move.

He had all the physical talent in the world, actually. And a genius mind to go with it. Watch film of young Jimmy Mac from '82-84...he wasn't polished yet but he had the mobility, arm strength, and touch to be a great QB. It wasn't until he got injured in '84 and then REALLY injured in'86 that he physically was never the same. If Mac had taken care of his body and never gotten injured, he could have had a Hall of Fame career like Joe Montana (whom Mac was superior to physically).

@@bpo1975 Mac took a pounding because the Bears defense under Ryan was ruthless, and other D's tried to compensate with payback. The Superbowl year D was the most physically punishing in NFL history (watch what they did to the Cowboys some time...brutal). Different times

Eldon Fortie, Virgil Carter, Gary Scheide, Gifford Nielsen, Marc Wilson, Jim McMahon. BYU has a deeper legacy than you think. Jim taught Steve how to throw.

Him and Payton will always be my fav Bears... Watching Jim play on the Vikings was a kick in the nuts and made me hate the owners of this team ever since... The whole "the fans had their time, now it's ours" line has always stuck with me. Maybe because we've sucked since other than a couple years under Lovie. Top 5 worse owners in pro sports...
