In this episode, Thomasina finds herself at the postmaster's office trying to retrieve an important box. She discovers a letter hidden behind her coat, which may explain Kenneth's mysterious absence. However, retrieving the box proves difficult as the postmaster, Mr Price, has locked it away and left town.
Thomasina engages in a lengthy conversation with Henry Long, a cheerful local who shares his thoughts on the station and its impact on the town of Beulie. Despite his kindness, Henry's steadfast guard over Mr Price's storeroom means that Thomasina must find another way to get her box.
Throughout the episode, Thomasina meets various townspeople, including the charming but determined Mr Kemp, the sceptical Cyril Farnaby and the mischievous Wally. She learns about the local legends of the Fair Folk, mysterious creatures said to live on the moors, and is given the task of finding a lost doll called Myrtle.
