Rambo wanted something to eat, all of this could have been avoided if the sheriff took rambo to Dairy Queen. Dairy Queen was right by the corner of the police station.
This was a sad movie. One of the saddest parts was at the beginning when he had learned that his best friend had died. His home was the army and the only friend he had left was his commander.
In the novel, Teasle really disliked Rambo because he was a Korean war Vet and he believed they were treated worse or forgotten about because of Vietnam vets. This is only indicated in the film when you see Teasle sit in his chair in his office and behind him you can see some war medals including the Purple Heart. Great video
@@TylerLedford-x4ocorrect. Like I said, in the NOVEL, Teasle is a Korean War Veteran and he hated the fact that Korean War vets are forgotten about because of Vietnam war vets. He hated Vietnam vets. Is that clear enough or do I need to explain it another way?
Thanks for an enjoyable video. I grew up in New Westminster, about 135 km west of Hope, but spent my childhood summers in Kelowna, 239 km to the north-east. This required driving through Hope, where we sometimes stayed the night. My mother would tell me about how she would travel from Kelowna to the coast. First by stern wheeler on Okanagan Lake, then by train, along the Kettle Valley Railroad. It was almost like something out of the wild west. In fact it was. My grandfather was a cattle buyer, who rode a horse, and was armed. Naturally, I was always aware that Rambo was made in Hope, over forty years ago. By that time I had moved to Norway. There, our closest neighbour had a brother living in Hope, and we went there yet again to visit him, and other friends who had fled Greater Vancouver. Despite living more than half my life in Norway, I regard myself as a Cascadian, sometimes referred to as an Ecotopian. I may have been influenced by Rambo, because I always regard Hope as being on the border, placing it as the first outpost in the Empty Quarter, as described in Joel Garreau's The Nine Nations of North America (1981), or a northern extension to the Neutral Zone in Philik K. Dick's novel, The Man in the High Castle (1962), or the Rocky Mountain States as it is called in the television series of the same name.
@@SpaceCattttt ... and what do you think of British Columbia as a name? The Stó:lō lived in the Fraser Valley, including Hope, for at least 8,000 years. They were also the most numerous people well after smallpox, introduced by Europeans, killed 2/3 of them in 1782. Much of the area was referred to as Columbia District from about 1810, although some people referred to it as Oregon Country. That continued until the Oregon Treaty of 1846. The Colony of British Columbia was created in 1858. It became part of Canada in 1871, thirteen years later. Of course, one also has to remember that the Canadian authorities interred Canadians of Japanese ancestry near Hope during World War II. Some of them descendents of Japanese people who had lived in Vancouver since 1860! I find the racism of British Columbia disturbing.
Takk for at du delte historien din. At deres nærmeste nabo i Norge hadde en bror som bodde i Hope, er ganske utrolig. Greetings from Fredrikstad, Norway.
@@Imnottheone79 Fredrikstad? Ja, jeg har en del av min biologisk arv derifra, familien Bratt, utvandret ca. 1630 fra Fredrikstad til Haarlem in Nederland, før de kom til Schenectady i New Amsterdam/ New York.
Hello from Japan Rambo's first movie This is still the best work No matter what I like Stallone's sad expression It's not just an action movie The emotional scars of veterans I think you express it very well.
Greetings from Canada! It was an excellent film, I suggest reading the book as well. Quite a different ending to the film. I heard they tested the book ending to an audience, and it didn't go over well.
It was a magical time living in the times when Rambo First Blood came out! I was a little boy which woke up early in the morning and played with our VHS player I mostly looked at movies like Rambo First Blood of course and Convoy which were on VHS tapes but now i am lucky i got both movies and more on DVD and Blu Ray! I really don't like how physical Media is dying off and Subscription type of movies like Netflix has taken over because of the Internet! I really love those days of the Tape VHS movies it was really magical! Thanks for making this video Nostalgia Trips!
Everyone has their own nostalgic memory of this film. I don’t remember exactly when I saw it for the first time. However, I do recall the movie review on TV in the evening. That was during the Easter holidays in 1983. The weather that day was rainy and cold, just like in the film. I really wanted to watch the movie, but I was still too young at the time. I eventually watched it on VHS, sometime between 1984 and 1986. By the end of 1986, I was already playing Rambo II on the C64. By then, I had seen both films. “First Blood” is still worth watching.
Just to add to your commentary about the bridge, just in case you weren't aware, the crossing we remember in the movie was just to the left of the new one as your heading out of town, and of you look on the east bank of the river, you can still see the footings...that's all that's left. In no way can the new bridge really be associated with Rambo and the legacy of the film, IMHO. Great video, I like Hope and enjoy stopping by and revisiting some of the locations, fortunately the town hasn't changed that drastically in 40 years.
I’ve driven through Hope hundreds of times and never noticed this before. Thanks for pointing this out; now I won’t be able to ‘not see it’ anymore. Stay awesome Lu!
I've always liked this movie. I adore these mountains, the forest, the river, the atmosphere and the air. And nature is very similar to ours in rainy summer. But it's a little colder on Lake Baikal at other times :)
4:17 …No it’s not weird, some call it nostalgia! It’s part of a happier times in our youth, we just want that feeling again! Thanks for the upload much appreciated!
Sad but true how many Veterans were treated after the Vietnam War.Many people hated our service members .Our Korean War Veterans were forgotten and our World War 2 Veterans were our Golden boys.
I so glad Rambo wanted to go see his war buddy, otherwise the amazing chain of events afterwards would’ve never happened. One of my favorite lines from this movie is when he escapes the tunnel and confiscates the army vehicle, he tells the driver don’t look at me look at the road that’s how accidents happen 😂😂
last time passing thru hope none of that was there *it apparently was unveiled for a “rambo 40th anniversary” celebration on oct. 8, 2022 (so it’s all pretty new
Wow, I can't believe how many views this video has gotten over the last week. Can somebody please let me know how you came across this video. Its interesting because the first ten months of this video's release it got hardly any views and now it's up to almost 80 thousand! Please don't forget to subscribe to the channel. More videos will be coming. Thanks for watching folks appreciate you all!
Just popped up in my feed. Wasn't searching for movies, Rambo or Stallone etc. But am a big fan of the movie and read the book years ago too. Every chance something in the cookies told the algorithm to feed it. Nice tour vlog though, thanks for making ti.
That's how RU-vid works... But you need to keep on creating content. I live in Vancouver, so maybe that's why your video came to my recommended list. There are tons of movies and series you can show, in this city, in BC, even in Seattle.
Well done. I remember watching the movie in a theater in 1982 wondering where this beautiful place was. 29 years later I would get to Banff Canada and see that kind of beauty in person. thanks for the video - enjoyed it.
Wooowww!!! Seeing this is going back to the past and makes us nostalgic as we remember beautiful moments from our childhood. Thank you for making these videos of famous film locations that I, like many, will probably never have the chance to visit in person. Greetings!!!
What a beautiful cozy town seriously I would love to visit it just because it looks really cool and cozy and obviously welcoming.. I love big cities and stuff but I love small towns like this or it looks like a small town to me..
Thanks! for doing an updated location for all of us from the gen-x generation you differently went the right time of year to do this, you can differently feel the spirit of that time frame alot better that place is differently on my bucket list of places to visit at some point again thanks!
Back when this came out I was in the Washington Army National Guard and also had been attending Officer Candidate School. One of my cousins saw this movie and came to me laughing, telling me that they made Lt Morgan and the National Guard look like idiots. My last name is Morgan. Thanks a lot, guys. Incidentally, I have been through Hope on a road trip (before I realized that is where the movie was filmed), very nice place!
You'll have to go back to Hope and do another video featuring the canyon where the famous helicopter scene was filmed. Who can forget that part where a stuntman jumps off the rock face. It's close to town and well worth seeing.
Rambo was part of my childhood! My dad served, and he had all the Rambo movies. I remember watching them on weekends with my dad. This was an awesome video 👍👍👍
It's always been my dream to make film location videos full time and that dream is fast becoming a reality. I need 1000 subscribers to get into RU-vid's partner program and then these videos can get monetised. Please consider subscribing to help my dream become a reality! More videos from film locations coming soon!
Love this video. I was there 5 May 2023 also from England, must have just missed you. We did most of the same locations, but you missed the famous "H" tree (where Rambo pulls a wheelie while being chased by Teasle), which is still there!! Great place and only learned it was in BC whilst planning to see my cousins, and it happened to be en route!
@@Nostalgia_tripsRyan Gosling is Stallones preferred choice to reprise his most iconic role. He has the basset hound droopy eyes, he can get his body in shape surely. I’m hoping and what the fans deserve is a prequel. A young Rambo with his family and his journey into becoming the iconic war hero he eventually became. Watching his Baker Team deployed into Vietnam his capture and ultimately escaping the POW camps. And of course I want to see him receiving that epic first blood knife 🔪 as he heads into the jungles of Vietnam. Love Rambo seen this movie countless times.
The original Rambo was something like 3 hours long and very cheesy bad,Stallone tried to buy back the negatives and destroy them😂 they edited alot of Stallone's dialogue out and Stallone re wrote the books ending keeping John Rambo alive thus paving the way for multiple sequels 😂
Excellent, Thanks for showing us, I noticed in the clip you showed with the motorbike the low cloud cover in 1982 was exactly the same as when you filmed.
Wait what?! You mean that this beautiful place is in Canada and not in Oregon? 😮 Nice video. It's also pretty cool that you had pretty much the same weather conditions as the movie. 😊👍
Muchas gracias por llevarnos de viaje a estas locaciones de Rambo First Blood que de otra manera seria muy dificultoso y costoso para algunos de nosotros! 😊
Greetings from Japan. I would love to visit that city someday. I saw the first Rambo movie on TV when I was in elementary school. It is still the best movie I have ever seen✨
Very well done! Thanks! I’m in chicago, so I always get a kick out of boring my family pointing out locations from movies filmed here. Only place I’ve ever sought out on a vacation was the park and Sts. Peter and Paul church from Dirty Harry in San Francisco in 2015
A great video. I just rode through Hope and it was rather cool. I should've taken the time and visited a couple of the locations you showed... Thank you
OMG even the weather is the same just like in the movie! 🤣 apart from joke, I'm very glad to find this video as I'm really interested in movie locations just like you. Subbed! Keep up the great work!
This was my favorite out of all of them, the bridge had that nostalgic feel to it, i Remember when this came out in 1981 i was 17, i am 56 now and the talk of the town was the RAMBO bowie knife, it had a fishing kit in it ,waterproof matches a compass , suture kit, it was a bada$$ knife, but it wasn't practical . You can go to the auctions outside being sold by people, the thing was huge. It was great to see the locations now and what they look like side by side, you did a great job enjoyed this immensely. Now my favorite movie i am going to look at is the>> DEER HUNTER
@@Nostalgia_trips Ya me 2 it made the ambience of the hole movie, i think there going to put pictures of it up by the Bridge somewhere. Was that sportshop there when he goes in breaks the cans of gun powder up or was that made just for the movie. Sylvester is a aging older man now, we need to preserve these things ,of what life was like before social media , cell phones, and the internet, before this world took a severe turn for the worst.
The big tree that splits the road where Rambo rode his motorcycle trying to get away from Teasle is nearby as well as the area where they kept the big log that says Holidayland. We went there last March and it was awesome. The guy at the visitor center near the area where Teasle picked up Rambo showed and had us hold the real machine gun used in the promo poster of Stallone for Rambo.
I worked and lived in Hope for over 2 Years including the time this video was made. The year before I won the First Blood 40th anniversary prize package from the local rag "The Standard". Awesome town awesome people! Did so much exploring on my adventure bike and made a few new friends.
The journey began over forty years ago when I was standing in front of the cinema and unfortunately wasn't allowed in because of the age rating 😝 and is still going 😂 - Rambo was influential - thanks for the impressions 👏 and many greetings from Frankfurt Germany - Tommy 😊
yeah, I saw the movie in 1982 in the cinema. I had just turned 16 and all the big action movies of that year were 16+. Maybe even the movie town of Hope would have made a hero out of Rambo in the sequel and benefited from his popularity :)
Hi. So sorry, I steered you wrong! My favourite train nerd reminded me that Othello tunnels are closed. There was a terrible flood a couple of years ago and some of that area was washed out. Originally it was money the town got from the movie that allowed them to make the tunnels accessible to the public. I’m hoping they will be opened again. 😢
I enjoyed your video! But you will have to come back--it's a shame you didn't get to go to the Othello Tunnels, where you could see a lot of the spectacular scenery from the part of the movie where Rambo is hanging from cliffs etc. I had been through Hope when they still had the huge log sign Gateway to Holiday Land. I saw the movie in 1982 and embarrassed myself by yelling, hey, that's Hope! in the theatre.
