Merkur, interesting brand. I have their 6105 8110 homage, NH35A and a really faithful case shape. Really outstanding finishing, MM 300 dial with Grand Seiko style handset, heavy compared to other Captain Willard homages. This one is obviously completely different, really unusual dial, that's growing on me. Nice that they're trying their in house movement (great tho' the NH35A is) Case is a great shape too. Not sure if I'd buy one, but who knows, if I keep looking at it and it keeps on growing on me. Thanks for sharing this unusual piece! Great lume!
I have another Merkur in for review that has the same movement, but might be more to your taste maybe. I haven't started the review yet, but will do soon.
Thanks for another great review James. I can't help feeling my Vostok Amphibias give a similar vibe for similar money but with real water resistance. Cheers, Howard
May be boring, but that case shape and dimensions are the standouts of this watch. Dial is fun. Some more vibrant colors would have bumped it up a notch for me.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I like the ones they used, but would like to see them a little more vibrant and/or deeper. These look a bit washed out. I am glad they didn't use the Mido Ocean Star colors, a bit too Miami Vice for me. Thanks.
If they had gone with a flourescent orange minute hand this would be a very desirable watch for me but with the white hands and yellow lume, the hands just get lost on the face.
Well it’s certainly different, my first thought on seeing the dial was “reminds me of a weighing machine or possibly old style radio dial”. I like it but do worry about legibility of the hour and minute hands, although they are more legible in the dark… clearly not a watch designed for function, but a bit of fun
I really like the dial design but I can understand why others don't. It reminds me a bit of an old jukebox, or if any UK peeps remember the TV show Bullseye, the large light up dartboard they had on set..!
I think it's great and unique... I bought similar design world timer by fairwell... It's amazing what you can do with this watch and it's definitely eye grabbing whether people like it or not
To be fair they have mixed it up a bit, with different colours, a different handset and also it doesn't have the numbers on the centre section either. So, I'd say it's the definition of an homage. They took inspiration from the Mido for sure, but did their own thing with it.
