Burtons grave before simply because he was such a georgeous actor and believe it or not his ex mother in law lived in Suffolk and I used to do her hair every week and there I saw photos of Richard burton with his second wife a snippet of information for you what a tragic life he must have had his father was a drinker also shame rip Richard burton ❤️😊

Beautiful resting place.

Richard was so marvelous an actor. He didn't deserve to die the way he did. She ruined him. When he tried quitting drinking, she goaded him into it because she didn't want to drink alone. And he took his physician seriously who informed him that he'd die if he didn't quit. While in recovery, instead of supporting him, all she cared about was, "He hasn't f****d me for weeks!"

We visited Richards grave today, 23/12/23, after travelling to Celigny from Geneva. As a fan of Richard, it was something I have always wanted to do. It was worth the effort. Celigny is a small, typical Swiss village, in beautiful surroundings. I can understand why Richard chose to stay there. God bless you Richard, you were truly a great man and actor. 🙏🏻❤️

Richard Burton lived in such a beautiful village. Small and intement. He had a very adventurous and unique life. He is buried in a very beautiful place . He lived a life that will not be forgotten.

I once stood with my Mother, about 15 feet away from Richard & Elizabeth, who were having dinner at the Savoy Hotel in London, in the 70's. We didn't dare to approach them at the time. But we were heart broken later, when we found out they never turned their fans away. Truly a wasted moment. And never got the chance again. But he did smile and wink at me (I was only young). I did write to Elizabeth years later, and told her my story. And how one of my favourite movies of hers, was NATIONAL VELVET. That beautiful lady, sent me a magnificent signed photo of herself, and also included a special photograph inside the envelope, of her in National Velvet. What an amazing actress. And a special soul. Thank you Elizabeth. Richard was one of the finest actors we have ever had the pleasure of watching. That magnificent voice will never be emulated. No amount of Oscars could have told us any more than we already knew. He was the best. It is such a shame their wish to be buried together back in Wales, never became a reality. Because their souls truly belonged together, underneath all the angst. Rest in Eternal Peace Richard. I hope you have found each other once again 🙏💔 Xx

This takes me back , I used to love walking around old graveyards, the new graves never interested me , I would try and find neglected graves , and old graves hidden away, on a side note , Burton was an incredible actor in 1984, he was incredible.

Richard Burton was a fabulous character, with the most wonderful voice in the world. I remember he asked every morning, “who do I have to send flowers to today”, for fear of who he might have offended by his drinking the night before. Absolutely loved him.

It is ashame he could not have been buried in the country of his birth. That being Wales of course. A burial site in the Welsh valleys would have been truly special for all Welsh people.

Richard Burton don't need an Oscar to prove that he was Actor of highest class both in Stage and in films. He was One of few great British actors dominated in 60s and 70s Of world cinema. He may rest on peace in heaven.

I live in Céligny and you actually passed my house on the way to the cemetery. It wasn’t a coincidence that Alistair Maclean’s grave is in the same cemetery as he also lived in Céligny with his wife Gisela, who is buried next to his grave.

Thanks to whoever cares for his grave… 😢miss that great personality and voice.

I don’t know how true it was but years ago I read a story that the worst mistake he regretted the most was divorcing his wife for Elizabeth Taylor. Fame is only a fleeting past but living with guilt can last a lifetime.

My mum wouldve loved this as she went to school with Richard and even went out on a few 'dates' with him...when he died it was as if my family had lost a favourite uncle..you have covered some important key points in your film particularly about Richard's brother..thanks for the care.

Very pretty where he lived. He was not that old when he died but he was a heavy smoker and drinker, so surprised he lived that long. He had lovely voice, Taylor said they spoke on phone every week until he died but they were just friends, but I think they both still loved each other.

I enjoyed the video. He was born in Pontrhydyfen and very proud of being so. (Hopkins was born in Port Talbot) - Burton never referred to Port Talbot as his place of birth. As you say he was supposed to be buried in Wales. Jerusalem Cemetery in Pontrhydyfen was to be the place and he bought two plots for himself and Elizabeth Taylor - she confirmed this in an interview with fellow Welsh journalist Mavis Nicholson. He was also good friends with Myrna Loy who he called “Mrs Williams” her proper name - as her grandfather and mother were from Neath.

Everybody remembers his acting of course, but that voice he had was made for recitals and voice overs. Remember he did the narration for the War of the Worlds album by Jeff Wayne, which was a massive seller, and he also voiced the famous advert for the Volkswagen Golf. His lifestyle caught up with him and aged him prematurely, but you got the impression he didn't half enjoy himself. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

He was a great actor I loved cleopatra I have it on dvd and when it comes on tv I watch it and I love Elizabeth Taylor and Richard burton they were soulmates 😢😢and I believe they would have gotten together again and got married
