Jen Wilkin teaches about the significance of the serpent on the pole as referenced in Numbers 21.
In this Old Testament passage, Wilkin explains, the serpents point back to Egypt and the severity of the punishment from God in the ten plagues. It is a reminder to the people of Israel at the time to not harden their hearts in disobedience. The Israelites repent, and God provides a way of healing. Moses then holds up a bronze serpent on a pole (foreshadowing and representing Christ on the cross) and God’s people have a chance to look and live.

This was an extremely insightful message. I appreciated the correlation between passages in the Old and New Testaments. I had been wondering why God commanded Moses to make a serpent and set it on a pole, for those who were bitten to gaze upon in order to live. Thank you for providing so much “food for thought.”

Great teaching! I enjoyed it, learned from it and was inspired by her. Thank you and God bless you Jen! "We must not bow down to the Pharaohs of our culture and allow them into our church..."

I love Jen andI love her teaching. I do, however, need some help reconciling What I heard and what I believe to be true. At 33:30 Jen said, " He absorbed our utter depravity" and the again at 37:50, she says, " Christ was conformed to the image of the serpent that we might be confirmed to the image of christ". I hope I can make myself clear, I understand christ substitutionary death instead of ours, I see though that it is the punishment that is substituted. I take issue and don't know when or how a sullied christ, one that could be absorded with our depravity or conformed into a curse would actually be pure enough to pay the wages of our sins. I see he carries them to the cross. I see the penalty is laid on him. I see that he pays the penalty for our sins. I see it's not right because he was righteous and did not sin himself and did not deserve to die. If he was transformed to be something other than the carrier of our sins and if he becomes sin himself , Then what gives him the right to die as the sacrificial spotless lamb. Is there understanding to be had?

Ever wondered why God created you? What was His purpose for giving you a body and placing you on this planet? He does nothing without purpose and intent. 1 Corinthians 3:16-20 You have been given a body to house the Spirit of the living God on this earth. We are not the owners of this body only the managers and stewards and the body is a vehicle given to us to fulfill His plan, will and purpose of God while on earth. The eternal purpose of God in Jesus Christ is to give us this new relationship with God (John 3:16; 6:37, 39; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21). Make you self understand; that this is GODS WORDS, Not Mine. Acts 17:27 and Jeremiah 23:23 The problem with God is not that He's so far away that we can't see Him. Rather, He is so close that we overlook Him.That means, if you can not find God within your self, you will not find God in any Church, building, Tabernacle,Temple or place of worship. Including Yours

"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."-1 Timothy 2:12

Do you know the context of the teaching or are you anti-female-teaching on RU-vid? TGC also has female classes though I suppose they don’t force males to leave if they desire to attend.

@@dmbsituation The Bible is very clear, women preachers are in rebellion to God. The fact that they don't respect God enough to listen to His word, is already reason enough to not listen. It's also very emasculating for a man to sit under a woman preacher, the woman is supposed to be quiet, submissive, gentle. How is a woman going to get behind the pulpit and preach hard against sin, its just embarrassing.

@@lindaholly4918 she's preaching to women. The Bible isn't against that (Titus 2:3-5)

@@vikak3148 Well, I am glad she is only preaching to women, but I still think women should only be teaching women Biblical womanhood, not doctrine.

@@lindaholly4918 Wait so you'd prefer that women who profess faith in Christ to not learn more about His word? That's... I don't even know what to say. The Bible is for EVERYONE! All of the Bible is for all of God's people. He is not selective with who gets to learn what.

This does not look like a Church service. Women are allowed to speak outside of church, believe it or not. They can even participate in Church services. I think you are a mistaken arrogant fool.

@@HearGodsWord Even if she's only teaching women, she should not be giving a sermon. The Bible says women are to: "That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."- Titus 2:4-5
