I don't know why they cancelled The Looney Tunes Show. It was the best modern version of those characters. Glad we got 2 good seasons though.

The original Looney Tunes always had tons of pop culture references. Most people don't realize it because the references have aged. Modernizing the Looney Tunes to 2020 it not only harmless it's part of what the original was about. The quality of the show all depends on the writing.

Bugs Bunny had originally yellow gloves back 1939.

The way Korey talks about Bugs and Daffy's careers is straight out of Looney Tunes Back in Action

I wish they would reboot Tom and Jerry in the same way this show approach.

Last time Daffy was this nuts was Rodger Rabbit but that took place during the forties.

I think they made the gloves yellow as a callback to bug’s yellow gloves in some of the really early looney toons.

Actually Elmer's design in this revival looks like his original one from a wild hare and a few of the pre-bugs bunny shorts in which he appeared. Fat Fudd was an attempt to redesign him to resemble his voice actor and only lasted four shorts before he returned to his more standard design.

You had an episode where Bugs Bunny was in an Albanian Prison and the US Army breaks him out, which includes Daffy because he needed a place to go after getting kicked out of the house. ........No seriously, look that up.

Didn’t think Double Toasted could get any better, but I’ve definitely noticed Korey becoming a better and better reviewer and interviewer, especially recently. When he and Martin go in on stuff like this, it shows their knowledge. They have a perfect balance of entertainment and well-thought reviews...my favorite on RU-vid. ✌️

I liked the version, where it was like a Seinfeld. Daffy and Bugs lived together and Daffy wouldn’t work. Elmer Fudd was the next door neighbor and Porky owned a restaurant.

To me, these new shorts perfectly encapsulates what I loved about the early 30's-40's Looney Tunes shorts. Particularly the ones made by Clampett and Avery. They're filled with great gags, really push the physicality of the characters, and honestly indulge in embracing irreverence and surrealism. Are ALL the shorts winners? No, but I think this is as close as ANYONE has ever gotten to capturing the magic of those early original shorts and you can definitely tell the people behind these care about the characters. They even brought back Sam Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf in a great short that feels like a loss cartoon from Chuck Jones. I honestly can't wait for the rest of the shorts. And that cartoon with Sylvester that Korey is talking about is probably the HARDEST I've ever laughed at Sylvester and Tweety in awhile. They do NOT let him catch a break .

A lot of the bad reboots of Looney Tunes were during a time when kids shows in general were really gimmicky and pandering. However during this time there were also great shows like Tiny Tunes and Animaniacs which are spiritual successors to the original Looney Tunes.

Between Koreys background in animation and their love of classic stuff Double Toasted should really do an animation club like a book club where they choose a new classic or new animation short or feature to watch on streaming & discuss when it was made, who was behind it & any interesting facts about it for us uneducated swine to enjoy! Id totally watch that!

I still miss THE LOONEY TUNES SHOW(Daffy joining the Marines and granny was an OSS agent) but this new one looks fun

Daffy WAS Crazy in the original version. I like him that way. I hope thats how he's Depicted

Looney Tunes & Merry Melodies is the culmination of the individual artists who made them. Frank Tashlin doesn't get mentioned enough. Set ups, gags and camera angles. Timing and style that carried over to his live action phase of his career.

Thank you for bringing up the problem with Daffy. I've always hated how he was treated like a villain in the past like Elmer and Yosemite, when in the beginning he was just as funny as Bugs.

I keep seeing stuff about "They should go back to the original animation"; and I keep thinking, "You clearly don't know a single thing about the animation industry"

Even if they did bring in modern celebrity caricatures, that's still perfectly in line with the old cartoons. A Peter Lorre looking character appeared all the time back then. Elmer made food for Humphrey Bogart. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

12:39 well Daffy Duck was basically the first wacky cartoon star, before Bugs came onto the scene and stole his spotlight.

Pepe le pew would be kinda hard to modernize, not if they Johnny Bravo him, or revamp him to like different love icon. like a semi opposite of himself, that they would just tone him down alot.

HOORAY! I am very glad that I'm not the only person that is thrown off by Bugs Bunny's retro yellow gloves. That was one visual callback that should have remained in the past.

I loved and miss The Looney Tunes Show that was on Cartoon Network back in 2011-2013 that ones my favorite looney tunes series I love it a lot and I was so mad when it got canceled and I just love the theme song for that show it’s so great

The funny thing about Bug's yellow gloves is that he only wore them once in a cartoon called Elmer's Pet Rabbit. And that cartoon didn't even have his normal voice. So I don't know why they went with him with yellow gloves like he always wore them.

This is reminding me of why Looney tunes was king. The shit was genuinely funny.

thank you corey for bringing up an small issue i had with this cartoons, it seems they are trying a little too hard to make these cartoons like the golden age of loony tunes and the pacing in some of them is not good, everything is more fanatic and fast paced and doesn't leave much time for the setup of a gag or joke. some things just happen for sake of being absurd and random.

Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny pairing from the classic cartoons were so damn good.

Its so old at this point that its brand new to a lot of people. God this shit brings back memories. I used to watch this show in my grandmother's house every week. Good times.

I liked the new Looney Toons show, I wish it had another season

My mom would go to work after my dad and she would bring me to my aunts house to watch over me with a vhs looney toon cartoons. Bugs Bunny was my favorite.

I was pleasantly surprised with most of the toons. They're going back to the Tex Avery days and they do a good job with that for the most part. People who are looking for the more emotionally/wit driven ones that Chuck Jones did might be disappointed.

As long as the characters aren't dabbing, or resorting to pop culture references, I'm good.

17:09 Season 1-9 Spongebob vs Season 10 present Spongebob. Early Spongebob was fast paced sometimes. Knew to take a breath sometimes. Season 10- present the pacing is faster now it feels like they are trying to cram in as many gags as possible.

Showed my grandkids Looney Tunes. First time I heard them laugh while watching cartoons. As for this reboot-they forget how much the music played a part. No synths, no drum machines, just an orchestra.

I remember watching Toon Heads on Cartoon Network back in the day, and I remember the Loony Toons actually being fucking loony. It was funny but in one of those ways that was like, OH so this is how you shouldn't behave cause these dudes are crazy.

Pissed Off Daffy got shit done, like that one episode where Taz the Tasmanian Devil took his money and Daffy beat his ass saying " I may be a coward, but I'm greedy little coward". That's the Daffy I know and love. I don't like this cracked out Daffy, we don't claim him

The problem with a lot of modern reboots of old properties is they seem to have an identity crisis. They can’t decide if they want to be just like the original or be their own unique thing. This is why, out of all the Looney Tunes reboots, I prefer The Looney Tunes Show. It took the characters, gave them more personality, and even created new characters that fit within their world. It relied less on slapstick and visual gags and more on jokes. The integration of modern technology felt natural since they acted more like people than animals. Also, I loved how they would mock some of the tropes of the original cartoon like how Bugs’s white gloves were such a core aspect to his design that changing them completely altered his personality. Say what you want about Loonatics Unleashed, but at least they also tried something different with the characters by putting them in a different setting. Plus those technically weren’t the Looney Tunes characters, they were their great great grandchildren. While it’s nice seeing these iconic characters in their natural element, the offhanded political jokes and modern technology kind of clash with them trying to recapture the past. Also, am I the only one that remembers Wabbit (aka New Looney Tunes)? That was also a modernized Looney Tunes reboot that lasted for 5 years. The fact that it just ended and WB is already rebooting it really shows how much faith they had in that show.
