It's a rare day when I don't cry to a Babymetal song. When I started listening to heavy metal 40 odd yrs ago, I never thought a band could be cute and adorable and make want to cry.
This is from the Legend of 1997 concert, the legend is Su-Metal and 1997 is her birth year. The song is about a 15yo girl going to her first metal concert, not about Su as when they recorded and made the official MV Su was 14 and Yui and Moa were 12. Su has one of the greatest and scariest Death Stares. Keep in mind they go at this pace pretty much an entire concert.
OMG 🥺 thank u for letting us know... that is sad... may he rest in peace and the girl recover soon. You know, as children what they were doing is quite brutal. Even more so in the extremely demanding Japanese entertainment business... if she decides to live a calmer life I will not blame her. This is not for everyone, what. matters is that she tried.
@Mike Mike No she really was sick and has had a few injuries. But Yui wanted more time to play the guitar and try new things. But she took Mikio Fujioka death pretty hard as he was kind of a mentor. Girls work their asses off and frankly I'm surprised they were able to come back after that.
GREAT REACTION! The girls and band go HARD on EVERY song, minus the 1 or 2 ballads that they usually perform, and their concerts are about 1.5 hours long. Su-metal, the lead singer, can jump around and dance choreography without messing up a single note. BTW, this concert celebrates Su-metal's 16th birthday back in 2013. The concert is called "Legend 1997" where 1997 is the year she was born. I hope you two react to more BABYMETAL songs. Each song is different and fun to watch.
I am given to understand that this is the story of a 15-16 year old's first heavy metal concert and her desire to go to one before she has to go back to school as she fears that she may not be able to see one for until after she graduates years from now. Kitsune up! 🦊
Beware! After the 3rd song you will be lost! They will get you! (but in a good way of course). They will make you smile from ear to ear but they will also make you cry. The variety of their songs is just awesome. Greets from Germany and stay safe!
I fully believe that Su-Metal was performing as a fetus. One small correction. Your thumbnail says black night and shows a pic of Budokan black night. That is a different concert. This was 'Legend of 1997' at Makuhari Messe the day after Su's 16th birthday. Dec 21 2013. But I'm glad, this was the right video to react to.
Kitsunes, get in your requests! Songs and Thongs consolidating requests into one video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qgQJV4lmV1s.html
Glad you came back to them and liked it! Pausing is perfectly fine, I‘d actually recommend to pause a bit more often to be on the safe side. I also think it‘s preferable to pause for your comments than talk over the video. As you have probably realized by now, this was not in 1997. The show is called „Legend 1997“, because that was Su-metal‘s (the main singer) birth year. The show took place one day after her 16th birthday in 2013. Even after years of listening to them, I‘m still impressed by the perfection in pretty much all aspects of their performances. The instrumental parts, the vocals, the choreography and dancing, the crowd interaction, the stage presence, the energy - there‘s really not much room for improvement. And the girls‘ smiles and overall positivity are the icing on the cake. It‘s just a complete package of fun. I‘m torn between two recommendations to give, so I‘ll just write down both: - „Rondo of Nightmare“ for a deeper look into both the instrumental and Su’s vocal skills: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8WBDiLMNZcE.html - „Pa Pa Ya“ for a newer song with similarly great live energy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oO7Y8NsnkRg.html
The statue in the background is a tribute to Metallica's "...And Justice For All" which is really shown in their closing song for this show called "BABYMETAL DEATH" which is a performance that will blow your mind more than this one! And the gong is a tribute to Japanese metal band, X-Japan. 🦊🤘
Great reaction, thanks! The concert was "Legend 1997 SU-METAL seitan sai" so it was SU-METAL (the lead singer) 16th birthday celebration at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba on December 21st, 2013. And you are absolutely right: they keep the same level of energy during the whole concert, so it's amazing! As you can see they master on crowd control and audience's behavior is mostly the result of Yui and Moa's (backing vocals and dance) work while Su owns the stage and the whole venue. She's the boss and she makes sure you notice it :) The crowd is another great point here: they were super hyped for all what they were getting so they totally deserved what they got a little later as a closing number hehe... We will back to that later... in the mean time I'd like to suggest you this one: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ro-_cbfdrYE.html Until next time!
..... and so it begins . The journey will be a fun one. SU-METAL's death glare can melt stone and she is quite well known for it , when on stage she is a force to be reckoned with and not to be taken lightly.
What’s that accent I’m hearing? Sounds like a mixture of german, Australian and South African ahaha! Great reaction btw! Hope you guys do more BABYMETAL reactions. These girls are incredible and put on a hell of a show!
@@pi0nvillag3r My BabyMetal concert last April was also cancelled. Their chances of this year's world tour are slim. I only hope they can tour the world or release a new album next year!
@@dingjk5630 I'm sort of hoping they do the Budokan shows, as long as that's safe to do and release some amazing show Blu-ray set so we see it all in full glory. Because I don't expect a lot of touring this year. Big maybe... starting October.
Great reaction. Their songs is different each to another. They had 40+ songs with different metal sub-genres and styles. It will be a great journey. I'm in!
Over 5 years I've been a fan. Su's story is fun! And Sakura Gakuin put three girls together and it been an adventure ever since! The shot of Su-Metal in the blue light with her hair stuck to her forehead has been the background on my computer for awhile now.
Karate, Megtisune, Rondo of Nightmare, Road of Resistance, Ijime Dame Zettai, BxMxC, Tales of the Destinies, The One, Amore, Akatsuki, etc. These are just a few songs to react, all different from another and absolutely awesome.
I'm pretty sure they bypassed the mind blown part about 60 seconds in. They are down the foxhole now. The only question is, what tunnel of reactions (order of them) will they take?
Welcome to Babymetal. About the same reaction I had the first time I saw this. I had seen some reaction videos, Gimme Chocolate, Doki Doki Morning, and was looking for more WTF videos, thinking "fun gimmick". Then I came across this video. Like a slap upside the face with a brick. All concept of gimmick got tossed out the window, coming to the realization of "this is for real, there is something serious going on here." The more I dug into it, the more I was captured by it. That was 4 years ago and 10s of thousands of dollars later, money spent following this group on tour. I've been attending concerts for a long time. I've seen the all time greats, from Pink Floyd and Sabbath, to Van Halen, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest, in their hay days, and I can honestly say, Babymetal is the best live band I've ever seen. The band is basically a supergroup of the best musicians Japan has to offer. The girls are joy amplifiers. I don't know how they do it but they project joy and energy into the audience, who reacts to it, sending it back to the stage, where it is amplified further and sent back into the audience. They are so well rehearsed, so professional in their approach, that they are amazingly consistent in their performances. Every night is a good night, I've never seen a bad one. But there are some nights where it becomes something else.... something magical. They are...... for real.... and yes, you are ready for Rondo of Nightmare at Budokan, a video which Amuse normally does not normally bother reactors.
This shit's off the hook insane..!! The whole band and performance is on another level..!! I thought bands like Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Styx, Queen, Metalica, Jinjer, etc.... were on another level..!!! BabyMetal raises the bar to an almost unsurpassable mark!
Wonderful reaction, and yeah, Su has a perfect "game face" or "death stare" whatever you want to call it. Which I find all the more impressive considering that it is well documented that out of "character" she is a bit of a goofy airhead.
1997 was the name of the concert...it was the same show as the "Gimme Chocolate" video was filmed at, this song is the debut of the Kami Band and total live music for BABYMETAL... BTW this is the second reaction I watched of yours... looks like your falling down the Foxhole... Welcome Kitsunes...
You want to see just how good the band is (called the Kami band).. watch Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of Gods Intro. They are some of the finest musicans in Japan. And yes SU-METAL has a legendary death stare. As for the audience - I have stood in the pit and jumped, screamed, swung my towel and sung my heart out. Their fans as insanely passionate and enthusiastic - yet also seriously the nicest and kindest fans I ever met. I can tell you BABYMETAL ALWAYS give 100% when they perform - they never coast, never have an off night, never just turn up. They work hard from the first to the last second to give the very best performance they can.
This concert in Japan in 2014 was just before they became famous in the world. It is still not well known in Japan, and very few people in the world knew it. The new song "Gimme Chocolate!!" released at the concert became a big hit in YT, and BABYMETAL became famous all over the world at once. There were pros and cons among metal fans at the time, and there was a battle of opinions everywhere.
The thing about Babymetal is that you're not going to their concert to see a band; you go to the concert to see a show. Its more fair to compare Babymetal to a Broadway show than it is to something like Warped Tour.
The Concert didn’t take place in 1997. That is Su-Metal’s birth year. She’s 23 now. A second show,Legend 1999,took place in honor of Moa-Metal and the long departed Yui-Metal’s birthdays. They’re 21 now
This song definitely leaves you speechless with talent of the girls and the Kami Band! And too funny that you noted Su’s death stare that can melt your soul with a single glare! Welcome to the foxhole, one you enter you will never leave!!! 🦊🦊🦊🦊
Thank you guys! one needs the Fox God in everyday life I'm glad you did it. get your latest LIVE BabyMetal blue-rays the things that are on YT are good but you'll see.
Shanti Shanti Shanti would be an awesome one for you guys to react to.. it's one of their more recent tracks with a new member.. they fused their style with an Indian flare and it's incredible
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。In this video, you heard the crowd shouts some words at 05:57. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!". If you search with keywords "babymetal 2019 forum headbang" you will find videos showing Su-Metal directs her mic towards 17,000 American audiences and they shout the same Japanese words on the cue at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11 2019. Of course the same shout occurs wherever they go.
Finally, after 2 months your second Babymetal reaction, thank you so much! Please don't wait that long for your next reaction. We Babymetal fans are all highly addicted to those reactions and need our daily dose. And yours is really excellent stuff!
Also I know this was from 2 years ago. I hope you both still love BABYMETAL. I’m sure you already know by now but the song is about a girl and her first metal/headbang experience. The music video is also incredible. Just an incredible band all around.
It's reactors like you guys who make me love Babymetal much more. Watching your minds get blown away every single time reminds me of the sweet sweet pleasure of discovering Babymetal for the first time. It's just such a unique experience of pure joy. Welcome (back) to the Babymetal Fox hole. We are all eager to follow your journey.
BABYMETAL will not be pigeonholed into a box. With every song (about 50) we often hear "I wasn't expecting that!" Welcome to the fox hole, where you will find many helpful kitsunes. 🦊 You can't go wrong in choosing any BABYMETAL song (there are no duds) to react to. With that being said... DO NOT react to "Babymetal Death - Legend 1997 Live" yet!! You are not ready!! It was a closing number during the same performance of what you have watched (Gimme Chocolate and Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!). This was a show to celebrate Su-Metal's birthday. (She turned 16 the day before). If you do choose to react, well... remember we are #notacult Su-Metal has some solos, which are awesome to give the other 2 a rest. Yuimetal and Moametal (known as Black Babymetal) perform duets to give Su a rest. Unfortunately Yuimetal left in 2018 due to ongoing health reasons and was replaced by non singing dancers on a rotating basis. (Just wanted to warn you ahead of time in case you review something more recent) Loved your reaction and I am looking forward and subscribing to watch your fall into the fox hole!! 🤘🦊🤘
There is a whole universe of Babymetal music/performances that will continually "blow your mind"! As someone else mentioned in the comments, Su just turned 16 years old here and Yui and Moa were only 14 years old during this performance! What you have repeatedly pointed out with Su's stare is Su's amazing stage presence. You need to check out Babymetal "Road of Resistance, Live in Japan" where the drummer (Hideki) was a monster and the level of stage presence and confidence by the three girls is unmatched. Talk about the ability to control a huge crowd (>37,000), Su is the master (and she was only 17 yr old then)! MORE BABYMETAL !!
I think someone mentioned it...but this was a celebration of the lead singers birthday! She was born in 1997 and had just turned 17 I believe. The other two are a couple of years younger. You have to react to BabyMetal "Road to Resistance". It is another notch above Headbanger....when the lead singer opens the Mosh Pit the crowd goes bezerk!
Oh another thing... Eventually, The One (as Babymetal fans are called) will recommend you to react to Death Legend 1997 (which is from the same concert you reacted to already)... Please read the description/translation that usually comes with the video... It will make more sense as you watch the video.....i have the bluray of this concert...And it's a blast....If you watch it from beginning to end, its basically telling the story through the music, how Babymetal goes from a Jpop/metal group to a full on metal band..... and yes the real band comes in mid way through the show, incidently playing with Black Babymetal, the cutest hardcore duo you will ever see.
you can react to syncopation, shine, arkadia, starlight, rondo of nightmare(mischief of the gods), road of resistance, yava, from dusk till down, tales of the destinies, the one, amore, karate, distortion, there are sooo many songs to react for, just give it a try, babymetal will be one of you favourite groups, greetings from Chile!
One thing abut SU-METAL she was born to sing and perform. She had just turned 16 here (like the day before - the concert called Legend of 1997 as Su was born in 1997 and SHE is that legend). By this show she has over TEN YEARS of professional stage experience as a trained model, singer, dancer and actress. This girl has commanded stages since young. She comes alive on a stage like very few performers I have ever seen. She is in total control of the stage and the audience, she knows where every one is and what they are doing. During a September 2019 Babymetal performance in Chicago, Avenger Riho Sayashi lost her balance and nearly rolled her right ankle (very bad thing for a professional dancer). Riho saved herself by kicking her foot back and letting her knee take the weight. Su saw Riho go down and her eyes stayed laser-focused on Riho's leg for the rest of the song (there is a RU-vid video of this. Also Moa spotted this and adjusted her routine to make the same dip so as to make it look part of the routine. This is just how very good both ladies are!).
Great reaction and I'm sure you've been told everything you need to know by now (sorry I'm late). I'll just say I'm looking forward to your next BABYMETAL reaction and I hope it doesn't take as long to get to it as this one ;-)
Yes! Anything from Babymetal is mental! Go watch everything and you won't be dissapointed, also this song MV is lit and more kawai because the girls are so tiny there, as well as different live versions, is almost like every one of them is unique. Anyway you better stop this now or else you going to fall down right in the Fox Hole and of course is trippy af, don't worry we'll be right behind you back you up! \m/
Babymetal works in big venues like that and even bigger but also in small venues. I could see them in Hamburg last February during their europe tour. They played in " grosse freiheit 36". Thats the venue were the beatles started their career. Or to be more detailed. The Beatles startet in the cellar of Die grosse freiheit the " Kaiserkeller". Was a great concert, even if they just played for just over 60 minutes.
Nice video! The best thing about babymetal performances are the insane crowd interaction that some people say "cult-like" HAHAHAHA. The energy of the band and the crowd altogether creates a perfect concert. Headbanger is a song about a girl going on her first ever metal concert 15th birthday. The other two girls had their own solo in the second verse in their birthdays too. Yui performed the second verse of this on her 15th birthday in their performance in Paris. Moa performed this on her 15th and 20th birthday. Imo, this song is one of the best tracks from their first album along with Megistune and Road of Resistance (all are great though, it's hard to choose top 3). Their songs sound different from each other. If there is a similar sounding song, it would just be a two or three songs because they're exploring and breaking boundaries of music! You won't expect how they perfectly mix different genres in one song. As you have mentioned, the band who played here are the legit band backing babymetal. They are the Kami Band. Kami is the Japanese term for Gods or Spirits. The members who played here are Mikio Fujioka (R.I.P) (the guitarist at the left side of the screen), Leda Cygnus (the guitarist at the right side of the screen), BOH (the bald 6 string bassist), and Hideki Aoyama (the monster drummer). Since that it seems like you love the crowd interaction, I guess you would love to see how amazing the production in their performance is. I suggest you to react to their song "BabyMetal Death" Live Legend 1997. When you react to this video, please read the description as it contains the translation for the beginning speech introduction. This is from the same concert as this and Gimme Choco. This was from Su's (the lead singer) 16th birthday. This was performed in 2013, it was just uploaded later. Catch you at the foxhole! Kitsunes up!
If you wanna see solos watch 'Catch me if you Can' (personal fav) or 'Rondo of Nightmare' or 'Awadama Fever'. Better yet watch them all! Only good things come from the fox god!
Thanks man, drummer is a double bass monster, Headbanger live is un- believeable, check out, try BabyMetal "Catch Me If You Can" live at Black Night Legend Doomsday show 3 Guitar Solos, Drum Solo, Monster evil Riffs, So Metal, So Cute!!!! Headbanging with a Smile!!!!!!!
The thumbnail is BABYMETAL - Headbanger live at Budokan 😌 and the video is BABYMETAL - Headbanger live Legend 1997. But, good reaction 🤘 Always wait for your BABYMETAL reaction again
That crowd, was at Tokyo Dome. Tokyo Dome holds 7000 people. And they sold out in 4 hours. So they had to do a second show the following night. They call it Red night and Black night.
Japanese crowds are the best. Whatever they do, they all do it together at once. As an American, I can't even imagine what that sort of unity must feel like.
That's what you call a show. :) Road of Resistance live in japan will drive you nuts. Go for it! N yea, Su has that killer stare that makes my knees wobbly
The next song you should react to is Road of Resistance Live in Japan. Their epic masterpiece. You will have to stop every 30 seconds and talk to get past the blocks but well worth it. You will be stunned speechless to the magnificence of it all.
Think this was pretty much on or after Su-metal's birthday. Think there's either a clip or after one of the live versions from this concert where they bring out a cake for her. I'm not sure what songs you've already reacted to but here is some of my personal favorites as a fellow South African: Pretty much all of them are the live show or live compilation versions - Megitsune - Yava + Kami band Solo - Headbanger @ Budokan Black Night 2014 - Catch me if you can - Rondo of Nightmare live @ Budokan Black Night (it's not in the title but it includes the Mischiefs of Metal Gods intro) - Pa Pa Ya Ft. F.Hero - Road of Resistance Live is also very good - not a full song; but Moa-metal took over the solo for Headbanger for her birthday in 2019
Crowd interaction is a HUGE part of the greatness that is Babymetal..... Road of Resistance, Karate at download 2016, or IDZ at sonisphere 2014, all show awesome crowd interactions. and as for not sounding like their previous song.... Let it be known, NONE of Babymetals song sound like each other.... So if you found a song you like, and hope they would do something similar or along the same vein... Not likely gonna happen.. If you like the band, try Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of God intro....Its a solo of Su Metal and a solo by the band....if you are going to react more to BM, live concerts is the way to go... Live Babymetal is Best Babymetal.. Enjoy your exploration into their songs! 🤘🦊🤘
babymetal armies are coming woooo... yes Su-Metal has that stare that make her looks like the baddest girl on planet XD, but her off stage personality is fully opposite
