TheBigfranco1 My 23andme test says I am 38% European and 49% Native American. And I am several shades more white than Lopez. But given Lopez test was done several years ago. And different companies will give you different results. I still think Lopez is way more Native American than European.
The Big franco1 . Just bear in mind this is NOT my opinion . But 23andme classifications puts Native Americans and East Asians in one group. And North African and Middle Eastern people as one group. So in other words North Africans and Sub-Saharan Africans are not the same people I know that will tick off a lot of black people . All I can say is talk with 23andme. I had nothing to do the classifications ! But back to your question. I have about 3% unassigned. 4% North African. 3% Middle eastern 3% East Asian Native American. I know their is some overlap But that is how 23andme does their testing. I plan on doing testing with other companies. And suggest everyone do the same. As it all boils down to how each DNA company gets its sample.
My uncle is Ecuadorian and he did an ancestry.com DNA test. He's 36% European (Mostly Iberian with some Greek/Italian) , 2% Middle East, 2% Caucasus and 60% Native American and he looks a lot whiter than George Lopez
Yeah he based it off of what Mariah said about the racial laws of the United States if you have any drop of sub-Saharan ancestry your considered Black in the US. If that’s the case a large percentage of people in Latin America would be classified as black but race is a completely different subject matter in Latin America.

Very few Spaniards willingly immigrated there it was mostly just conquistador men who intermarried and mixed with what remained. Go to Mexico or Central America majority of people still look indigenous or aren’t white European.

The One Drop Rule was found unconstiutional in 1967. I really wish Mariah knew that. The more it is upheld in our beliefs the harder it is to overcome. This was in 2009, but today she is still under this belief. She was born in 1970. I was born in the 60s. I lived similiar experiences. I know how she feels but I really wish she would find the healing within herself and find a way to be more than part of her DNA. Mixed. It has to start somewhere. Embrace it. Make it positive. Mestizo is the proper word for mixed people. Latinos are used to describe people in the Americas that are of European descent (I.e. Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy).

No, your indigenous % is your native American side. The European is your Latin side. LATIN is European. Latin is what was spoken in the Roman Empire, which conquered most of Europe. Then the Romance languages eventually grew out of Latin (Spanish, Italian, French, Romanian, Portuguese). Europeans colonised and settled in South America, and built pretty much everything. Spaniards mostly settling in Mexico. There's very little African in any native Europeans. Europe has been extremely homogeneous and overwhelmingly white. I don't know what Ashkenazi Jews are, they're partly an ethnic group who have crossed over into a racial group for political reasons, I think they're a mix of European and Arab Jews.

I think people are missing the point of race and ethnicity. People are often lumped together more often by the culture they come from and not their actual race. Ethnically middle eastern people vary in the amount of Semitic and European bloodlines with gulf Arabs having a larger percentage of Semitic blood than Lebanese or Syrians. The same holds true for many North Africans who are a mix of European, Semitic, and Berber. Due to religion, langauge, and cultural similarities, they are all known by the world as Arabs. People in South, Central, and Spanish colonized countries share much in common with each other, hence creating a culture known as Hispanic.
I was curious enough about Mariah to start a family tree project on her and I’d found pretty much everything she said, with the apparent added nationality of Cuban alongside the Venezuelan. On Mariah’s mom’s side, she has Irish full-blooded Irish ancestry with her great-great grandparents being direct Irish immigrants. On her dad’s side, her grandma Addie and family were from Alabama and of course come from a line of enslaved African Americans. Yes!! It's amazing that many people don't know that Mexico served as a nation through which most commerce from China and the Philippines traveled to Spain and Europe. The Manila galleon was the main transport route, traveling from East Asia to Acapulco, then everything travelled by land to the Port of Veracruz, and from then to Cuba and Europe.
