While the campaign is (sometimes hilariously) out-of-canon, it does use the canonical Garithos.

"You see Captain, the battle was looking grim, until I realized the Undead had a preset kill limit. Knowing this weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own men at them!"

I love this scenario. A great twist on the original WC3 tower defense.

So rather than his subversive tactic of racism from the original campaign by mistreating the blood elves even though he could've used their help, Garithos actually allows them to join the Alliance with no problem whatsoever here, mainly because Rowan the Wise unified the humans, elves and dwarves in his campaign. But here, Garithos decides not to listen to the Captain by triggering the spell which literally destroys everything in Lordaeron.

I fully expected for the potions to be fake, and the spell on the book being put on it by Araj himself or for it to be a hoax, so he wasn't forced to give up the book. Ending with Araj being the only survivor...

Missions wise the campaign is over the ending is surprising to say the least...when I played this campaign I tried to voice act it and sound as close as possible to the characters its good to see the characters actually gaining a voice at last...rather than amateurish tries to voice act the AI can do most of the job lack of emotion does hurt it tho like the captain saying "never" should be him shouting not just a quick never! Still its good to see AI being used to bring characters to life like this now on to review the campaign Gameplay: the strongest aspect of this campaign the dynamic of playing as dreadlords needs to be explored more I played this on hard cuz im a real gamer and "hard" in turonro dictionary is frustratingly hard the first mission was one of the hardest missions in the campaign and its the first! My fair share of modding the game didn't help either with archers having 1.3 instead of 1.5 attack speed huntress with 700 HP and 26-28 damage and much more made the first mission hell...second and third mission were much more better however naga myrmadoins with 1.4 attack speed and the 200 range made them hit harder in shorter time...but nothing our dreadlord trio can't handle 4th mission was good instead of going first to crypt fiends or meat wagons I went straight to necromancers using their awesome abilities to raise the dead I tried to destroy the nearby nerubian base it was actually impossible even with crypt fiends aid the 5th mission was one of the hardest too knowing that orcs vs undead are tough matchup for undead made things uneasy without even starting the mission and oh god it was a nightmare I went around killing creeps to get all the gold I can get and struck the orcish shore now problem is in my game wind riders have been buffed with 700 HP and 2 base armor and more damage and orcish shore base love to spam them that with raiders having 800 HP normal attack and heavy armor made assaulting that base very tricky after lots of raging I did with spamming necromancers and raise dead from all 3 dreadlords , and it doesn't even stop there samuro attacks are ruthless I spammed 3-4 control groups of ghouls and lost them all thankfully ghouls cost 50 gold in ma game so it wasn't a big deal spamming crypt fiends necromancers and ghouls few meat wagons spearheaded by dreadlord trio made short work of orcs.... , mission 6 is even worse than 5 on hard you face 2 orc players defending orgiammar with sizeable armies I simply relied on necromancers spamming up to 24 necros without units costing 1 food in my version this would have been outright impossible cuz the orcs are simply too many to take on without skeletons , mission 7 is dope and its where you get abominations something to depend on as heavy hitters and tanks its 1v5 you take the center of the map and from there build a solid defense wait until enemy attack then u launch an offensive on one of the enemy bases I took out kultiras base first with 3-4 wyrms and few aboms and necros human attacks were hard to deal with until I built a strong defensive line in the center with a control group of aboms another of fiends and another of necros and statues and 6-8 wyrms I took out the bases one by one starting from purging the very very annoying elves to finally clapping the archmage base , mission 8 is handsdown the best mission in the game the atmosphere of dalaran is eerie creepy and unsettling walking among the city I defended once as rowan the wise...now as the enemy having to deal with the strange creatures the kirin tor were making and the traps of the city a lot of stuff to explore great ruined city terrain 10/10 , mission 9 was hard the hardest part is the first part cuz honestly orange vampire sucks like varimathras is the weakest of all 3 dreadlords stats and ability wise...only good thing he has is doom this another one of those instances where my modding makes things harder from footmen with 520 HP and 4 armor to spell breakers with heavy armor but I managed to pull it off things on hard difficulty never get easy so now taking on thr human base Is a hustle I lost few times trying to build a base LOL once I got the base up and running u get attacked by 3 bases or 4? Can't remember its very tough to fight the humans as they are amazing magic users (well the elves but ye) normal army combo aboms necros fiends statues and wyrms deal with enemy attacks take out base rinse and repeat 4 times however the 2 last bases are very strong I lost my army trying to destroy the archmage base being pushed back after s disastrous march into the trap lord garithos set up for me and da bois I recovered and struck again taking out enemy bases the silverhand were the bossfight of this endless frustrating mission the leading pala in the cutscene is based on uther how did I know? Cuz I replaced his model with more unique one from hive and gave him 30 of each stat being "the strongest paladin" he deserved such treatment but standing against is a nightmare and this pala boss along with 4 others were hella strong slowly they ran out of mana and I killed them after they holy lighted my necros to oblivion , mission 10...the finale shown here a tower defense along with normal base building and some unique twists such as the obelisk at first I thought that 1 food for each unit would make things easy once I get a sizeable force up and running...boy I couldn't have been so wrong the enemy levels up his HP and stats while im stuck with 3 3 upgrades and 1200 abominations towers will help but it would be literally almost impossible to win when garithos came swinging 1 minute was all that remained and I kept losing once even losing at 0:01 seconds but trying again and again I got lucky and won overall gameplay wise pretty strong without getting too repetitive however orange vampire needs changes in his ability kit , the ability to raise undead as dreadlords could have been expanded upon its the same ability with no way to level it up... Story: definitely one of the soft spots in this campaign it starts off good with some questionable things such as green vampire killing arthas the strongest death knight like bro couldn't even solo a myrmadoin how did he solo arthas ?? That alone is an insult to arthas being taken out so early and fast...he was an boss in rowan the wise campaign another one of annoying aspects is varimathras being stupid like him taking half of the scourge made things worse he should have stayed with green vampire as that way the scourge could have better chance of holding on and not getting green vampire captured and killed (f for green vampire) varimathras is a character that I will despise and for a good reason just wait and you will see why I don't want to spoil but how this ends is absolutely insulting to us (tichandrous) Terrain: not much to say nothing to really criticize here pretty good and human towns are eyecandy On a last note dialogues aren't as good as jeaprody of the horde I suggest you do that after this or maybe rowan the wise first? Just dreadlords being crybabies ceases to be funny after a while nice series tho

Just curious, where and when did Dalvengyr actually show up in Warcraft III? Wasn't he the Dreadlord in command of the Scourge forces that you have to fight in the second Blood Elf mission (the one where the Scourge destroys all your outlying bases in the beginning and you have to enlist the aid of the Naga) in The Frozen Throne?
