Funny thing is the bed stabbing comes from this version, not the book. The Nazgul are blind and rely on their horses for navigation. They were only able to see and stab Frodo because he put on the ring.

Fun fact: Frodo and Pippin are voiced by brothers, Christopher and Dominic Guard. Christopher (Frodo) is still acting, but Dominic (Pippin) quit acting years ago and now has a different career. Also, King Theodon is voiced by Philip Stone, who also played Grady in The Shining.

This movie did take some liberties that deviated from the book but that’s true of the Jackson trilogy too. As for the balrog… the only excuse for that would be the budget

Something else that I like about this version over the Peter Jackson version is the sense of camaraderie between characters! 🫡 I genuinely believe that any of them would give their life to defend each other. We get some of that in the Peter Jackson movies, but we only really see that connection between Frodo, Sam, Gandalf, and maybe Aragorn and Bilbo. Everyone else is either a secondary antagonist, maddeningly obnoxious, or frustratingly distrustful/uncaring. 🙄 Here’s a drinking game for you: Take a shot for every time you heard someone in those movies say some variation of “This isn’t our fight,” or “I don’t trust your/their kind,” or “you/I have doomed us all!” I guarantee, you’ll puke before the second movie is over! 🤮

In terms of personality and portrayal: Better in Bakshi's version: Frodo, Aragorn, Sauron, Gimli Better in Jackson's version: Sam, Gollum, Saruman

@@ThatSexyNerdReacts Tolkien wasn't exactly fond of the idea that an entire race played the role of a bad guy. That song just proved his point by showing orcs that were being forced to fight for Sauron. (It's still up in the air as to why they didn't want to, but I digress.) In fact, the sentiment is shared in a later scene where Frodo has a dream of him and Sam waving to a group of passing orcs that return the gesture.
