Stand-alone GoT & LoTR games would be a smart pivot by The total war franchise. Gives us a different era historical game or one of these types of stand alones. Would be very successful
Yes, I agree. Considering the Warhammer series, I'm sure they will be able to do it. It's just if they're willing to do it and if they have the rights to do so.
@@zilk3124 They don't. They'd have to purchase the LoTR rights from Amazon or the Tolkien Estate (depending which ones) and the GoT rights from GRRM himself I guess. Expensive stuff, so from a business PoV it's probably not worth it, despite a LoTR or Game of Thrones Total War being (potentially) very succesful
@@jdekkers3262 True but I few years ago I would have argued that they wouldn't get access to the Warhammer rights but here we are. Hopefully they have already thought of this and are working on something for it.
Yep, played it last night and it’s amazing. The only thing I want is at least some LOTR voice acting, like they have in Third Age. It was kind of immersion breaking to hear the elves sound like the Greeks from vanilla Rome.
It does have some custom voicelines, when finishing a battle with the dwarfs it says something along the lines of "Another victory to the Sons of Durin"
hopefully CA gets to make a LOTR Total War game. They've become to experienced with fantasy strategy after the many years working on Total Warhammer 1,2,3
They seem pretty damn good at sticking with source material. They've shown that with warhammer. I wouldn't be surprised to see models in the game that look like they came from Weta workshop in a LOTR total war game.
An excellent video man, one of your BEST spotlights. Also thank you for pointing out that more custom battle maps will be added - there is still work to be done on the mod - but the modding team have delivered more on this than we could ever have hoped for!
If there is a strategy game, especially Total War, there is a LotR mod for it. It's kinda hilarious, but at the same time, it brings big amount of respect for modders and fans of Tolkien Universe.
Seeing this Mod develop over the last year been great. Dagovax and team did a great job. Needs more Super-Factions though, but maybe that is just me :)
Years ago I put many hours into the original lotr mod on Alexander. It's great, I much preferred it to the third age tw version. This is making me consider getting rome remastered... man they really need to do an official middle earth total war!
I love how everything is looking, but I wish the world looked a bit more gritty like in medieval 2 DaC. DaC world map just looked more gritty and less vibrant. More like the movies and how it was described in the books. I hope the mod developers try and change it a bit to fit that ambiance DaC brought us.
Still waiting for a First Age Total War. There is the Silmarillion TW for Medieval II, but it is far from ready, so hope we can get some First Age stuff as well. There is also a Total War Beleriand mod for Rome Remastered, but not sure how far they are with development
This looks amazing, truly impressed by the look of the campaign map and battle maps. I am downloading Rome Remastered just to give it a go. I'm a big fan of DAC on med 2 but its getting very old and this looks like a breath of fresh air.
@@ric1194 Yes, of course it is. DAC is nearly on its fifth iteration and this only just launched. Think what it will be like a year or two from now. Plus even now the visual improvement is *chefs kiss*
I heard there is a lord of the rings game in development inspired by the total war series, i was told it had some legal issues but it is moving forward, and as of right now it is going to have multiple types of PoV.
I'm sure creative assembly probably hasn't done this because of divide and conquor and all the other lord of the rings mods.....divide and conquor is my all time favorite medieval 2 mod
my fav mod for rome total war, I really hope in the future they add more factions and units, but even now it's easily the best mod for rome remastered ( for me )
i played this mod back in the older days..and bye damn was it good..its just when i was playing the fellowship campaign as the free peoples, it crashed at one moment..and i forgot to save...most frustrating moment in my life
@@charlesmiv3842 yeah but it's a lame game to buy. Imagine if Skyrim sucked 10 worse then it did at launch but you had to buy it to have mods. Just not a good purchase
@@zacharyjackson1829 I mean, I enjoy the vanilla game with just a light overhaul mod as well. It's Rome with updated graphics and mechanics. I can't ask for much more than that
I would love to play this mod as I'm a huge fan of these types of games and these movies. but I just don't know how to install and stuff. I feel like I'd literally love someone if they helped me

Between this mod and Divide and Conquer / Third Age Total War for Medieval 2, the LOTR universe has been better represented in Total War than any other fantasy universe. It is sooooooooooooooo good.
@@horrifiedbystander2150 I prefer DAC in part because of what you just mentioned with the scripts and events but I'm also biased because I prefer M2TW over RTW as an overall game. This new mod for the latter is still VERY good. It needs polishing for sure, but so did DaC when it first came out all those years ago.
i tried now to mod and its good, really good, but is this an issue or.. units are so thin and how to disable to see other factions movement and to turn off fog?

-Third age i limited in size of the number of factions and Regions; though a well alrounder -RoM doesnt have map but detailed units but lesser factions than third age -This one has huge map; could have lots of factions dont know about current faction count; but less detailed units and no kill animations
@@ZeitfürGeschichte Rome Remaster has lifted hardcoded limits, though it seens there is a crash with more than 80 selectable factions and a mod with 180 started crashing when each faction had unique unit textures.
The mod itself loocks amazing,but i dont consider it functional cuz of the ammount of cities,its way too many cities everywhere althought it makes it look better its gonna make the gameplay less functional
