(This is the arrangement that appears in the Oregon Catholic Press Breaking Bread hymnal). Text: CM; Claudia F. Hernaman, 1838-1898, alt. Music: The Whole Psalmes in Foure Partes, 1563, alt.
Chris, I understand that you are posting your videos not as performances, but as instructional videos. But the small congregation of New Hope Presbyterian Church in La Feria, Texas thanks you for your beautiful version of this hymn! We are worshiping on Zoom and were all able to enjoy this together, singing along with you in our homes last Sunday. We were very blessed by your music. Thank you for sharing it!
Chris, I retired as Music Director of a large Catholic parish last June, and moved to a smaller more intimate setting. I have really come to value your artistry. Your use of voice and guitar with traditional hymnody is a revelation, and of course your work with contemporary music is very edifying as well. You do a marvelous job: understated and quite beautiful! Thank You!
Sure, I have worked for the diocese of Cleveland, Ohio since the late 70's and retired in May, 2020 from Saint Angela Merici Church in Fairview Park Ohio.
Thanks Chris for your wonderful videos. They are extremely helpful in my preparation for my role as Cantor in my Church. The production quality is very good, and the melody is crystal clear. When I prepare for Mass, I can't always tell how the melody goes by just looking at the notes. So I'll go to RU-vid, and if your name comes up, that's the video I use. Well done, and keep up the good work. Thanks again.
Excellent! That's exactly why I make the videos...in the hopes that they will help other people learn the songs and present them better in their own church. God bless you and your community!
