Only difference is you will never see frank doing a lorde cover, she's a one hit wonder as far as I'm concerned.

That's the way I view it! You don't have to love one and hate the other and you don't even have to pick a 'favorite'. They can both exist and love each for what they are and possibly bring out different emotions in you.

I love how she captures the emotion of the original song, but presented it with her character and makes it completely authentic

@@jacksoninc.4062 Different people have different tastes. I don't think there is anything wrong with people disliking a cover, just like there is nothing wrong with disliking a movie or a painting. Some people have a hard time seeing past the original material, just like others have artists they love so much that they may dislike the original just because it was by someone else. Personally, I always try to treat everything on its own merit, without judging it against anything else, although even I'm not perfect, (especially when it comes to remakes of classic movies.) The nice thing is that people have a choice of what to listen to, so if they prefer one over the other, they can easily simply listen to one version and ignore the other. I wish people didn't have to bash on other artists for simply trying to entertain, show their appreciation for another artist, or do what they love, but people have the right to voice their opinions and unfortunately, some people purposefully abuse that privilege to get reactions out of people.

It was up and down, but luckily when she did the emotional stuff people were more reserved, witnessing the power and beauty of her voice. I don't know what it was like back in the crowd however because I was so close to her that the majority of the audio I was able to capture was more pure and clean.

Yep. She said he inspired her while writing this album, and so she wanted to do something to show her support for him. In my eyes it is a win-win, and I'm grateful she sang it because I thought she did a great job. For (what I would consider a large artist) like Lorde to cover someone else's track should be looked at a blessing, because she is promoting that other artist's work and helping them get more recognition.

DOO she did pretty bad though, but to be fair it’s a really hard song to sing especially towards the end.
