Its rocky launch really hurt perceptions, which is a shame because the story/world is very rich. At least CI and Hexworks seem to respond to community feedback

It’s only going to get better with the update and dlc plans I can’t wait to do another play through. Yes some annoying stuff in it but every souls games very annoying things in them all.

He already tried to use other bodies to manifest that being the spurned progeny iirc. It seems he needed a very powerful vessel now that his physical form has died. It just happened that the woman who betrayed him also made for the perfect vessel.

Even before Harkin gave her the Rune , she was already at breaking point with the gruesom plague. Harkin's rune made her go full genocidal and paranoid where she saw sinners and adyr apologists everywhere.

I thought of this as well. Who's to say that the lamp wasn't what whispered into Harkyn's mind to give the rune to judge the cleric? After all, it does become a crucial part of the putrid mother's plan to enter Axiom, both in giving access to Adyr and as a way to kill the immortal Harkyn and collect his parasite. You are also correct that the items tied to the sundered monarch state he was afflicted by a "cruel sickness of the mind," and we know Rhogar energy withers both body and mind, making it likely he was affected by umbral insanity rather than fallen to Rhogar energy. We should also keep in mind that the Adyr worshippers heed whispers that come from beneath the earth because they believe Adyr's body is buried there, but we know very well that any whispers from the ground come from umbral.

Adyr created the Rhogar, he was imprisoned in that realm where he assumably makes them.

I have played every single Souls game from FromSoft. DS3 is my favorite game of all time. So I know at least a bit of what I'm talking about. That being said, I've been playing Lords of the Fallen for weeks now and I can not stop playing. I love the realm mechanic, the feel of the weapons, the beautiful armors and locations.

The game ran absolutely horribly at launch and wasn’t well balanced.

Yes i agree. Also as a suggestion and it doesn't have to be anytime soon but I'd love to see a lore video on damarose, delving deeper into her history and seemingly sad fate from adyr. That's another thing that really intrigues me about this franchise is how adyr always try and make himself seem morally right but contradicts himself by corrupting and tormenting ppl as well as using manipulation to achieve his selfish goals.

With my next playthrough I decided to roleplay as Hushed Saint - left and forgotten by the church, slowly drowned into umbral desparity - imo good feat for umbral ending. I tried looking for his lore, but found only few hints from his item descriptions( Hopefully one day I will learn more about him here 😄

The contradiction is thr point. The person who deposed Adyr herself ended up being worshiped like a God (Judge Cleric). After the plague and Harkin's Rune she became corrupted and went full Loco.

We don't actually know what happened to the other two judges. They could very well be alive! When they banished Adyr, it is understood that they were deified to a degree (which is why Adyr describes them as demi/psuedo/fake gods). They are ascended, but they aren't incorruptible either. As to who Orius is, I suspect he is the good guy. As was stated in the video, he cut off his own head to create the heavenly bodies and firmament for creation. Just like it is understood in Christianity, which this game heavily allegorizes from, the god Orius might seem like an indifferent, underserving God to those who are unfamiliar with his divine intervention, but he is the force who orchestrated all things. So, Orius is responsible - due to his influence and planning - for the beacons, the hallowed sentinels, the Church of Orius, the Dark Crusaders, and even for your resurrection at the beginning of the game. Orius even twists the Umbral mother god into doing his will when he orchestrates it so that Adyr is devoured. The events of the entire game perfectly work for Orius's sake. And when you cleanse the beacons on his behalf - after he orchestrated your resurrection - Adyr is slain and his holy light purges the land of the Rhogar infestation of Mournstead. He redeems characters like Pieta, he saves Mournstead from Adyr's oppression forever, and he cuts off the Umbral mother's connection to Axiom by destroying the lamps at the end of the game. He's literally a genius.

⁠@@CalebDekker The three judges are likely immortal or very long-lived, seeing as Kaslo is over 500 years old by the events of the first game and Iselle is 1500 years old by the events of the second game. I don't think it's confirmed that Orius was the god behind the creation of the mortal realm, merely that it is a belief in the Orian faith. He is only a genius if you take the Radiance ending to be canon; otherwise, Orius is a complete fool, as the tool he tried to use against Adyr ends up either backfiring and resulting in freeing Adyr, giving him a lord who surpasses the judges in strength and taking out Iselle (not to mention giving him a god consuming weapon to use on the other gods lol) or ending existence altogether by freeing the putrid mother. Keep in mind that one of the possible lampbearers is literally a cultist of Adyr. It's far more likely that the PC specifically being resurrected was purely due to chance. There is also the HUGE risk that the events he supposedly orchestrated will lead you to find the rune of Adyr and fall into the temptation of power, which could be a catalyst for a lamp-bearer who was initially not a servant of Adyr to turn on their mission and join Adyr (or pretty much give the putrid mother what she needs to tear the veil). Honestly, it feels more like a gamble. The Radiance ending is a bit vague; Orius nukes could either be him killing the Rhogar or killing everyone he deems a heretic, be it Adyr worshippers or those who "stray away from the light." Molhu is also still alive, the veil between axiom and umbral will continue to weaken because the boy martyr is dead (depending on your choices), Harkyn's umbral lamp is still around, and there are more umbral parasites out there. We know very devout servants of Orius (Dunmire) can fall to the temptation of umbral, so he hasn't exactly fixed the problem by nuking you Nuking you was also done purely for the lols rather than to destroy the lamp. Lampbearers can willingly part with their umbral lamps and no longer be bound to them (see Isaac), so what this really means is he doesn't give a shit if the PC lives or not and were just a disposable pawn to him. Also, what do you mean by "redeems pieta"?

@@Sometuy11A Well, neither is anything "confirmed" except for very specific details. Based on the information presented in the game, there's not really a good reason to assume otherwise. Regardless of your conclusion, you have to take someone at their word, but that's neither here none there because it doesn't affect the crux of my point which was to say that Orius didn't do anything wrong (AND he did good). I do take the Radiance ending as canon for a few reasons: it was described as the primary objective of the game by the developers and all of the marketing leading up to the games release, it is the quest that was given to you by all of the characters in the opening of the game (including Isaac), and its the only ending of the game which has you fight a totally unique boss. If were going to debate the canon ending, then I might as well discard it because it also really doesn't affect my points either. Orius taking calculated risks is totally acceptable given the umbral mother's invasion of Axiom and Adyr's rising influence in Mournstead which has pushed out all of Orius's influence in the region. Even if it was solely a gamble, it was really the only play. Armies of crusaders were sent to cleanse the beacons, and the lamp that the church had access to was entrusted to Isaac who never lost his devotion to Orius even after death. Whether you come across the rune of Adyr or not (whether you're tempted or not), if nothing is done then Adyr will be freed regardless. The only way it would wind up in Orius's favor is if it was recovered by a crusader. If the crusader falls to Adyr's influence, it wouldn't make a difference because Adyr would be free in either case. BUT if the crusader resists Adyr's influence, then all of Mournstead is recovered. Again, there is only one play to make. Huge risks? Well, it's the only way to get a positive outcome at all, but the turnaround is massive. The radiance ending is not vague in the least. Orius's light pours down across Mournstead. What's in Mournstead? I must have missed all of the good normal people who were not corrupted by Adyr, the umbral mother, or dead because there wasn't a single one left by the end of the game (except for less than a handful of NPCs maybe?). We don't really see any examples of these "good people" who are left except for the few who are still devoted to Orius like Pieta or Isaac. But assuming that Orius was just blasting all of the heretics, whose to say that would be a bad thing? Who is he zapping? Molhu? Judge Cleric? Sounds good to me! If that's the case, then why would Molhu still be alive? Why wouldn't the lamps/lampbearers be hunted down by the church and burned by Orius? Why wouldn't this help stave off the umbral invasion? Why shouldn't Orius fear the player character? If Orius is as much or less of a "god" as Adyr, then using his power and influence to stop a potential future where the lamps are turned on him seems to be a very logical conclusion. You might have used the lamp for Orius now, but whose to say you wouldn't use the lamp to devour him in the future? Orius is ensuring his victory, and if you choose Orius, then you - like Isaac - would happily die for the sake of Orius and his followers. If we're going to lean into the Christian allegory - which I like - then I'll answer in the same way that the Bible does...who are we to question God? It's not "for the lols", a lampbearer is a threat to Orius reign. My comment about Pieta was simply to say that, despite her nature being corrupted and twisted by the Umbral parasite, she was protected from her fate as Elianne by her devotion to Orius, and Orius resurrected Pieta while also giving her the task of aiding the player character on his crusade to cleanse the beacons and restore Orius's reign in Mournstead. Orius is a genius!

Keep in mind that Adyr acted kind towards Dark Crusader because he needed someone to corrupt beacons, also he couldn't face direct Crusader but only trough his minions, maybe he speaks truth but it's high possibility that he only manipulated player to join him.

@@CalebDekker ughh no in regards with Pieta, there is no definitive proof that Orius resurrected her. Also "Her nature being corrupted and twisted by the umbral Parasite" ....She is the UMBRAL PARASITE with an Axiom body. There is no redemption for her. Her umbral nature (feeding on the dead) is marred by her overwhelming devotion to the Orius and her belief that she is an instrument of Orius. Hence why when we fight Elianne in the umbral ending, her name is Elianne "THE STARVED". Her resurrection is most likely through her Umbral powers or Molhu (her Father) who been watching over her since her conception. So how is Orius, a god that can't even confront Adyr and putrid mother gonna convert an umbral creature to a human? Orius is so paranoid about the putrid mother like Adyr, hence why he kills you at the end in the radiance ending. You the character are a dead person resurrected by the umbral lamp and hence linked to it like the Iron Wayfarer. So far Orius just seems like a weaker diety compared to Adyr and putrid mother, both who are straight forward with their intentions while Orius expects others to do his work for him and then step in and claim the spotlight.

It's better than they said no question but It has some issues.

Lies .. dark souls trilogy is literally one of best stories ever told about cycles and destruction , if you don’t understand it that’s a whole another problem ..can’t even compare elden ring to this it’s laughable

​​​@@Diabeticninja90yeah. In ER and DS we can go examine every details in the game (statues, corpses, etc...) and add more context for item descriptions. We can connect in-game lore with IRL references. I don't think people can do similar things in LOTF.
