The lands of Minegarde are overflowing with monsters of all shapes and sizes, from the adorable to the just plain annoying. Among these common beasts are the elder dragons, rare and powerful beings, worshiped and feared by the people of Minegarde for the massive destruction they can cause.
To protect its citizens, the Elder Dragon Observation and Hunter’s Guild were founded to conduct research and more importantly, get some sweet monster tail by hunting them. Since you were a child, you dreamed of belonging to the storied lineage of the hunters; it’s even been rumored they were part of a technologically-advanced and superhuman civilization that fought the dragons in the Great Wyvern War eons ago. This maayybe explains the giant bones littered everywhere and why you’re able to wield impossibly heavy weaponry.
Though much of Minegarde’s history has faded, the thirst to defend, maim, and kill has not. And no one does it better than the AceHunters, a dream team of trappers that only take on the toughest of assignments. As you travel across the Great Desert seeking your own destiny, you’ll soon realize you won’t be able to do it alone. Teaming up with a ragtag caravan and whatever other hunters you can scrounge up, it’ll be up to you to uncover Minegarde’s past while taking on monsters even the Ace Hunters can’t handle.

Funny fact:most people uses Kirin armor to fight Rajang... Rajang main food source is Kirins witch gives him the electric powers. So basically they are fighting Rajang dressed as his favorite food.

@Lego IG-88 You're both right and wrong. Minegard is a city, it was the online hub in MH1. Schrade was a kingdom that was attacked by a Fatalis and destroyed. The remains of Schrade are now known as the Schrade region.

I get that the Ace hunters needed to lose to the gore Magala because of the plot, but it's kinda absurd given the gear they have. The lancer had the babel spear, which is a spear that you can't craft till early G rank and the Commander and the Gunner had have the Ace and Sorroral series armor respectively, and while they are arguably bad outside of mixed sets, they still have G rank base stats. They could have given them worse gear honestly as there is some pretty cool low rank gear and might have made the fight more believable.

Wrong, actually. Think of Minegarde (city) as a sort of base capital. The world of Minegarde itself is what encompasses all surrounding lands and the monsters within them. Read up on your lore a bit.

Luke Elliott unless you can provide a direct statement from capcom about the war being scrapped, I'm gonna have to disagree. There's a lot of things in the game that hint at it quite strongly, such as relic gear, artian gear, finding talismans in rocks, etc.

get the first monster hunter illustrations book, it's tells you all about it and shows many content that was cut. For example the equal dragon weapon, a man made dragon used to fight elder dragons but this and the dragon war as a whole has been scrapped

Luke Elliott I have the first illustration book (and the second, which is much less interesting). And yes, a lot of what's in that book was cut. But there's in-game reason to believe that the war is still canon.

Granted, Minegarde isn't necessarily the name of the world of Monster Hunter, just a region of the Old World, what people now call the base of the Monster Hunter games before World. We still have no idea what the entire planet is called as of yet, but no doubt there is still more lore that is yet to be uncovered

Rip MH lore, this was the vague mh lore, not the mh4u lore. And we say : the ancient civilization, not minegarde. Minegarde was a city, schrade was a region, but it was an entire civilization that covered much more than just those areas. Otherwise we wouldn't call it the ancient civilization but just the castle of schrade or "minegarde". Mh4u speaks about a mysterious virus that started spreading, and of seregios dudes who were running away from something. In other words, this is kinda fun but not really the most reliable mh lore video xD

Because it isn't true. This video basically covers tiny bits of the first game and some abandoned concepts. 4 isn't about uncovering the history of Minegarde, it's about finding the source of the Frenzy virus and stopping the Apex monsters it creates.

Minegarde was actually the name of the first online port from Monster Hunter G, the name of the land or world that monste hunter takes place in actually has a name, and a map with regions, but I can't be bothered to dig it up. The whole "You've always wanted to b a hunter since you were a child" is a lie AFAIK, but "The Great Dragon War" actually happened between an entire race of elder dragons and super hunters, and they nearly eradicated each other. that's why you see ruins everywhere, like the tower stages. the hunters now are thought to be only descendants and that's why we struggle with the basic bird wyverns. another fun fact, all the dead elder dragon bodies recovered by the super hunters were turned over to the Wyverians who happened to be their source of armor and weapons, as no other race could make such powerful weapons, and with the dead bodies the Wyverians made this giant mutilated corpse machine that was strung up on chains, complete with exposed ribcages and limbs where limbs shouldn't be. it looks like an illusion that feigns 3D, but you're looking at it from the wrong angle; except it's supposed to be a zombie dragon. this was what was called the "Dragon Weapon" and it was supposedly made to fight the elder dragons. then Fatalis was born, "The One True Enemy of Humanity" he was slain, which was the turning point of the war. it is asumed that white fatalis is actually a surviving fatalis, old from millennia slumber.

Well I'm no expert when it comes to the lore, but I believe the great war started because the wyverian's built the equal dragon weapon to fight the elder dragons for control. There's some debate over which side started the war, like did the elders attack civilization first or did the wyverian's build their abominations first.

the only other reason on why the hunter could be impossibly strong, is that he could be wyverian, a race that lives much longer than regular humans, most likely much stronger, and unbelievable amounts of stamina and strength.

All of the hunters are left handed. They always wield their swords in the left hand and their shields in the right hand. Interestingly enough they shoot their blowguns like a right handed marksman and use heavy weapons with the arm positioning of a right handed wielder aswell.

According to the lore books, most are actually right-handed but wield their weapons in their off-hand for the tactical advantage of being left-handed. Which is a terrible understanding of WHY it has an advantage, which is fighting a right-handed opponent.

I don't know where you got the misinformation from , that having your sword in your left hand would be a benefit. You always want your shield to be on the side where your opponent's weapon is.

It pretty pretty cool if you just did a Monster Hunter Lore in general cuz to be honest other than the games story plot you don't really know much about the universe in the games

There once was a great ancient civilization that became technologically advanced beyond what most humans are capable of imagining. Then they mistreated the Elder Dragons until they declared war on humanity. Once the dust settled, the civilization was broken and scattered and the dragons nearly wiped out. The new society of the MonHun world has learned to live in balance and has at least partly appeased the Elder Dragons, but will hunt them in they threaten human settlements.

Brown Wolf No, no it won't. Rights are owned by Nintendo now. Plus they're almost all for hand held consoles. The last non handheld version was mh3u for the wiiU.

Dudes. Chill. Monster Hunter is owned by Capcom. They're free to go anywhere. If anything, I doubt they'll leave handhelds. MH has always been about dat adhoc in Japan, and sales always show that too. New hopes are there, of course, with the online features recently added.
