Transcription for organ by Alexandre Guilmant (1837-1911)
Louis Robilliard (Lyon) enjoys a worldwide reputation for the French 19th and 20th century organ music and is organist of the Cavaillé-Coll organ at St. Francois de Sales, Lyon.

I love the way she makes it look effortless - no huge lunges or exaggerated movements as some organists do. Just beautiful, crisp playing which is truly joyous to listen to.

What really matters is the sound, the music we hear, not the visuals; maybe it's because I'm only a layman, but I can listen to this or any kind of well-played music while I myself am engaged in creating a painting or drawing.

In my 55 years of organisting, I have never heard anyone play this piece better. The Kilgen organ has the perfect sound as well.

Even at that speed in a lively acoustical setting, the counterpoint is not blurred. Impressive!

Exactly! Magnificent performance in magnificent acoustics. An organ is only as good as the acoustics. Many or most churches have dead acoustics very sadly. It's like a concert grand piano minus the sustain pedal.

this piece was my " morning music" back in the mid 70s , on the old 8 track tape system. wonderful music which which to start the day.!!!!

Beautifully played. The orchestral lines were very sensitively observed and respected. This is an extremely musical performance of what frequently becomes a technical demonstration piece. The transcription is very good, though I don't recognize it. Thanks for putting this up, Joe. It's nice to see the big instrument.

Superb! I've always liked the Guilmant transcription; I wonder why Dupre--who respected Guilmant so much--felt compelled to make his own transcription ....? I appreciate Ms. Aramendi's tempo; the music has a chance to breathe!

GREAT balance in voicing. Too many choose heavy stops for pedals when it should sound like a string quartet, not a belching furnace in the low-end.

I remember watching Wendy/Walter Carlos doing this for the Bach album on synthesizer some time ago and more recently Miss Diane Bish as well. Glad to see it done a third time. :-) -- didn't do this piece at Stanford Department of Music as I was working on the JSB and Widor fugues. :-) ---- super-super fond of this piece though!!!! -- stolen away by the Department of Computer Science (McCarthy/Knuth/Feigenbaum/Floyd/Owicki/Weiderhold/et al.) :-)))))))

Dans cette musique flotte une sorte de brume propice aux rêves et aux dérives douces. Un climat de paix retrouvé que l'on ressent parfois sans savoir exactement pourquoi pendant certaines nuits d'été ! cette organiste construit un discours d'intériorité, de respiration, qui sait et doit faire place au silence🕊️
