It was because he was incorrectly nominated as a lead actor just so “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series” would have 7 nominees (5 of whom were from The Normal Heart) and “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series” would have 6. It’s the same reason February gets the extra day every 4 years. But if it was the Oscars, I can pretty much guarantee he would have won for best supporting actor and he wouldn’t have been incorrectly nominated as a lead actor just to arbitrarily even out the categories. After James Gandolfini (whom the role of Malvo was originally written in mind with) died of a heart attack, it took a month or two to recast the role with Billy Bob.
"How can you lie like that?" "Why do humans see more shades of green?" It's evolution/survival/adaptation. Malvo lies to survive, the same way humans adapted to see more shades of green to detect predators in the brush. 🎶IT'S EVOLUTION, BABY! 🎶
@@griffingillispie8875 Predators don't have to lie though, so I took it as a direct answer to why he lies so well... and it was the same reason humans learned to see more shades of green, survival in his environment.
The many shades of green able to be processed by the human eye is also the reason night vision is in...yup, you guessed it! "Look at the big brain on Brad"!
@@banshee1020season 2 is a hard yes. There are moments that drop off but overall the quality remains as good as season 1 some directional choices I'd say are better. The use of the colours are great. Season 3 is a slow burner for sure for the first half, not as good as 1/2 but when you get to the end is definitely worth the time you put in. Season 4 I watched a couple of episodes and that it was some weird woke trash, obviously tried to hard to push "the message" and the characters were just not interesting. The first 3 episodes of 5 are pretty boring overall, they put an interesting spin on a scene by scene copy from the film and what essentially is the characters from the original movie. Alot of it feels like a "what if" scenario going of the events from the movie. Some stuff makes total zero sense which totally pulled me out of the story *spoiler* example being there's a Welsh guy (being English I've met plenty of Welsh and his accent is totally off I thought he was Swedish or something when he speak) he's supposed to be over 500 years old due to a curse. Imma see where the story takes it but I've not got high hopes. TLDR season 1 - 3 definitely worth a watch especially if you enjoyed season 1 and the original film.
@@OGRE_HATES_NERDSIt's a bit, harkening back to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) refers to himself as Kevin Costner more than once

It's scary being a minister because you have to deal with guys like this face to face. Sometimes you don't even spot them until after the allegations come out. One thing we've missed though. The Bible tells us the job of a minister is to be able to spot guys like this. That ministry attracts the wolves, the psychopaths, that it attracts them like a net, and then we can see them...
The fuck about the first season, is that the main cops were not even as half as charismatic as Malvo and even Lester, I couldn't not root for them until the end until a lot of abrupt kick the dog shit happened and whatnot.
@@ArgentPendragonliving in city’s and not spending time in nature is causing humans eye sight to become worse. Losing the sharpness of the greens how far we can see I read a study on this about 5 years ago super interesting
When he kills those people in the Elevator he befriended during his Dentist Identity that was some Breaking Bad level shit to see the complete horror and disbelief on there faces as they got wiped out one by one by what they thought was a close Friend.
The human eye's ability to perceive more shades of green than other colors is attributed to the distribution of cones in the retina and evolutionary factors. The human eye has three types of color receptors called cones, which are sensitive to different wavelengths of light. These cones are typically referred to as short-wavelength cones (S-cones), medium-wavelength cones (M-cones), and long-wavelength cones (L-cones). The S-cones are most sensitive to short wavelengths, which correspond to blue light; M-cones are sensitive to medium wavelengths, corresponding to green light; and L-cones are sensitive to long wavelengths, corresponding to red light. The distribution of these cones is not uniform across the retina. There is a higher density of M-cones, which are most sensitive to green light, compared to S-cones and L-cones. This higher density allows for finer discrimination of different shades of green. Evolutionary factors also play a role. Early humans living in natural environments needed to be able to distinguish between various shades of green to identify ripe fruits, edible vegetation, and potential threats. The ability to discern subtle variations in green hues would have provided a survival advantage. While humans may be more sensitive to green, it doesn't mean they cannot perceive a wide range of colors. The human visual system is capable of discerning a broad spectrum of colors, but the emphasis on green sensitivity is a result of evolutionary pressures and the natural environment in which our visual system developed.
You already have an "innocent" man , now you're interrogating more . There's rules the cops follow, hech why when he goes after Lorne later ... he doesn't go as a cop.
If I recall, Malvo wasn’t a lone-wolf. He had higher ups and seemed to be something of a contractor who also conducted his own little activities along the way so it’s possible those who employed him had measures in place, people to act as civilians who could vouch for him if he ever got caught and had a false story that the police would need to confirm. That’s just speculating though.
@@osiris8637 I think this is right. There's that little office in Nevada where he gets his jobs from, and they send him his new identities in the mail so it makes sense they would set up some fake websites and plant witnesses to back up his story
@@osiris8637That's quite literally correct. Hell he ended up getting his credentials and cover story sent to him via mail. When they checked his story I recall there was even a church website setup for him.
No buddy. The answer is adaptation, Malvo lies because he is a predator and lying is good for him so he does it. As for the green, we see more green to be able to detect the predators hidden in the bushes. Makes sense ?
@@slylataupe4272Yes that’s the answer the show gives, thanks for pointing out what we already know. His comment is a different way of phrasing the answer and it sounds better in a more intrusive and honest way. Make sense?
@@henrydavel1440 nope, sorry, his rephrasing makes it different. That why i took the time to write in the first place. Weird that you’re not able to see the difference;)
@@slylataupe4272 Well the dude who’s writing the answer seems to have already seen the show, What’s the use of him commenting what you have if it’s already been said? Why isn’t he allowed to be original and give a different interpretation? It’s sad you put time into commenting something the show already said, instead of being original.
Predators is the answer. He asks why we can see more shades of green than any other color. It's because we as humans developed a system to detect predators hiding on plain sight. Malvo is saying he does what he does because he's a predator.
@@saelaird He's not surviving. Humans evolved to see more shades of green because of predators. He's a predator. He's not surviving He's thriving. Like something at the top of the food chain would do.
Some people say it’s for humans to spot big cats prowling in forests and tall grasslands. But I think it’s because humans are the predators, spotting their prey anywhere.
There isn't really one reason why the human eye can see more shades of green than any other color. It's because we evolved in a predominantly green habitat so there are a million reasons why it was beneficial for us to differentiate between different shades of green. But for the purposes of this story, the most dramatic answer is "predators"
It's how human beings evolved and adapted, to see all those shades of green that defined their environment. It's our nature, just like evil is Malvo's.
We can see all those shades of green to spot the predators hiding in the brush. Seeing the faintest of shadows in the greenery us how we stay alive, and lying is how a criminal stays alive
