They should be banned.

It should have been like this from the get go. And the “emergency” argument, is not a valid one. We didn’t have cell phones before and we did just fine and survived.

If they really had an emergency and needed access to their phones, they can tell the teachers before class begins or at the start of class. Like how I was told back in the day. You don't have an emergency every day of the entire school year. Maybe a few days at a time, but not every single day.

The AI and tech companies want the educational data, which you never consented to. The Chromebooks are a problem as well. Keep Cell Phones and AI out of schools.

Welcome to what I had to go through back at my old elementary/middle school. No phones were allowed, and was used to it because I didn’t have a phone, unlike many others.

20 years ago for a lot of us cell phones were banned, and if the teacher caught you with it, he she would keep it for the whole day 2:26

It's impossible to do this with 30 kids every class period. The kids are on social media or they are watching a series. It's time to ban cell phones and I would go a step beyond and claim that the chromebooks are problematic as well.

Yes, no cell phones in schools. Cells are more of problems than solutions to learning

I remember when I was in school we had a policy that said OFF AND AWAY!!! I'm not that young, but I'm also not that old. I went to high school when phones were becoming popular but texting was definitely an issue. When did schools get rid of the OFF AND AWAY procedure? Or did some schools just never care?

Good that should be statewide.

Worldwide. These tech companies are conditioning the kids with social media. They are addicted, just like a drug addiction.

Don't worry, those will be banned as well for the same reason. It's a distraction.

Schools have scores of employees to call for help.

Until your child is abused by one of the employees… you won’t understand the fear some of us have. My son’s iPhone has a super neat feature called “screen time restrictions” where I block everything but calls and texts to me. It’s not that hard.

@laceywhite4380 First time I have heard that argument....and that's a good one....why are you still sending your son to a school where he was abused though?

My son’s iPhone has a super neat feature called “screen time restrictions” where I block everything but calls and texts to me during school hours. It’s not like the old days … we now have school shootings frequently. Furthermore since Covid and funding issues, our school has been hiring unqualified staff. It’s literally admitted to in our school board meetings. And that staff has overstepped boundaries on multiple occasions. My son being able to call me in private during his break to let me know, is important to me. There are bad people in this world and guess what, they DO exist in our schools. I have also tried to reach my son through the school number and direct classroom number to no avail in multiple occasions. I will not be comfortable without a direct line of contact to my child, in the world we live in today. Simple use of parental controls on the devices is more than adequate.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Why don't you go volunteer for a day as a sub and see just how absolutely addicted these kids are to their phones and social media. If you need to contact your kid, call the school and get transferred to the teachers room. Kids should not be on their phones in the classroom. When they are at school, they should be learning.

You wouldn't put a nintendo switch in a classroom because it would be too distracting. If you love your kids and want to contact them, get them a dumb phone and for God sake, keep your kids off of social media.

Phones should be banned during school hours and teachers should get more training as well. Some teachers don’t care they just work for the $$$

I can see how this would interfere with Students indoctrination
@spicywater123
@spicywater123 10 дней назад
Social media is where the indoctrination is coming from. It's the algorithms. The tech companies are doing it to the kids and then blaming the schools.

Impossible to control
@spicywater123
@spicywater123 10 дней назад
No, it's not impossible to control. Parents know their kids are addicted to their phones and social media and don't k own what to do about it. It's time to ban the phones and place draconian restrictions on social media companies.
