I have driven through this place a couple times and I will definitely be coming back to stay for vacation. I love how it’s not crowded and a quiet beautiful beach
Lived there several years. Beautiful. Empty, beautiful, swim able beaches. Many restaurants, such a warm and friendly community. Big expat community in winter. Lots of kite surfing and fishing. Small town feel but lots of activities
There is maybe a couple weeks where it is not crowded but you need to be here year round and see this is a very busy little town. And getting much busier all the time.
Very sweet video of a very sweet and still somewhat fragile and traditional town! It should be understood that quad riding is NOT permitted on on the beach, and there are protected areas where efforts are being made to preserve the natural environment… allowing the sea turtle population to thrive! The fact that it does not feel like a tourist town has to do with the efforts that are constantly being made by those who cherish it to thoughtfully preserve its beauty and simplicity, while finding a balance that nourishes the local community families and businesses!
We drove all the way there from La Paz (1.5 hrs over very windy mountain roads) just to eat the best nachos in the world! Literally the best… at Smokey’s restaurant.
A friend has lived there for 20 years 1/2 time, raising her kids there, and 6 years full time. It’s a traditional community, but it’s changing. She attributes this to the Americans who have overwhelmed the community and pushed real estate prices way up to the point that the children of her friends can no longer afford to live there. She says it’s also sad because the Americans largely don’t integrate into the community and don’t learn English. She is both sad and frustrated by these changes. The solution? Who knows?
I'm not sure that it's only one particular group of people from one country making impacts in each of these towns. You have to remember that Mexico is developing. It's going to continue changing. Just like every other city does in the world that has something attractive to offer
The world is crowded never like before. Big migrations will be the norm, and it'll be felt by everyone. It's inevitable: I've had first-hand exposure being in California for the past few decades. The norm is change. Mexico has always been attractive, but it's safety reputation really slowed things down. But today's reality is different, and it's been much better, and much better understood. Mexico has become very attractive and will both benefit and hurt from the influx. But if the politics can keep up with the population changes, some exceptional things can come out of it.
@@Anonymint-vj7bt yes, but their economy didn’t suffer, on the contrary, they had cheap labor at their disposal, while in this town ( los Barriles) receives people with money who in turn the transform the economy for the local people to the extent that real estate, groceries, restaurants and everything else is much costlier to the local people. So it’s a big difference.
Great video. Took notes. Will be looking for a great tortilla soup, souvenirs but haven't seen or heard yet in my search if there is live music, mariachi music and a sun set tour...
Thank you for your quick overview of Los Barriles. I just returned from a one week visit there with a good friend and you, unwittingly I'm sure, showed his house at least twice. Thank you for that. We had a wonderful time there and hope to return again.
great little town. was there 5 months ago. very gentrified with Gringos which makes things more expensive but still worth a visit. similar to Loreto but funner- more to do (ATVs, Fishing). hotels aren't cheap but found (with help from the locals) a nice B&B in Buenavista 3 miles outside of town. 2 day trip to Cabo Pulmo was fantastic
Heading there tommorw morning , hope hurracaine hilary stays far off shore , summer is my favorite time in Los Brailles except for the darn hurracaines that are not too frequent
I appreciate your videos and feel your sincerity in wanting to inform and help others. I just have a comment for you to consider. I like you have lived in many places around the globe. In all that time I never gave medical services much of a thought as my focus was leaning more towards adventure. Now walking isn’t on long distances isn’t on my todo list. Unfortunately I’m also not bilingual. Now I’m 72 and my needs and wants have changed significantly. Because of your knowledge of Mexico I would ask you to identify smaller or slower paced towns that have or are near great medical facilities. Time matters when serious medical needs show up. Although I don’t have any major concerns it’s only a matter of time before I will be affected. Very few of us have Hollywood ending.
Very interesting. I hear this is also a kiteboarding and windsurfing paradise because of the high winds but I didn't see a mention of this or any beach photos during the windy season which I think runs from November til about March? Thanks for any info!
Yes, it's a nice town but this video was taken during summertime when most of its residents are gone. Winter time it's a different story, crowded, windy, lots of water problems. Los Barriles is getting too expensive, it's not what it used to be anymore, and believe me its population is not 2,000, it might be closer to 8,000.
We still think with all of these points, it is a great beach for people to consider. Winter is a short period of time so 3 months isn't a big deal to be able to get 9 months of peace and relaxation :)
Sorry I said winter time, I meant high season which is from late October to mid of May, and I totally agree, it's a great place. Thanks for your response.
Nice video Marianna. Please don't advertise driving on the beaches for reasons stated in other comments and though we love it for the windsports I think a relocation guide should mention the windy season (as stated in other comments). Cheers

The cost to build a home would largely depend on what materials are being used, who you hire, whether you have an expensive architect or not. I know people who have built homes for less than $40,000 USD and some that have built homes for more than $800,000 USD. It all depends on the house and the people building it
"HOW FAR IS IT TO THE AIRPORT?" Please stay in the USA. You are exactly the type of person we do NOT want here in Mexico. You would never make it here, with that entitlement and expectation of having everything at your feet--express.
There has been so much building going on in the last 20 years that the town has outgrown its infrastructure. Not enough city water, no city sewer system, streets are clogged up and hardly any parking. However, we have lived there for 23 winters and always considered these annoyances part of the dues to be paid for living in paradise.
Hi, I have been considering the possibility to move to Mexico with my husband, once we decide to retire. I have a genetic issue that prevents me to be at altitudes above 3000ft. Why do you need current plate tags insurance is nullified as soon as you cross the border …I believe you have to get private insurance maybe that’s what you’re referring to

This is the next Cabo. I know people involved in the biggest construction project currently going on there. Trust me this place is not BEST KEPT SECRET PLACE OR AT LEAST...NOT ANYMORE.
