Legendary band from Chile ! They have been around like 60 years and still active! We can define them in the genre of progresive rock and they combine a lot of the Andean folklore in their music and instruments. The video was recorded in Machu Pichu, Perú. I find it so sad that Los Jaivas do not have the recognition they deserve in the world... it is music for all ears. I recommend "Mira Niñita" or "Pregon para iluminarse." although they have an extensive catalog

En una entrevista al vocalista de PINK FLOY le preguntaron si conocía a LOS JAIVAS y el periodista le dice son los Pink floy de Sudamérica y el respondió si los conozco y nosotros somos los JAIVAS de Europa

Los jaivas son un tremendo descubrimiento . Me alegro que les hayas escuchado. Son legendarios y muy respetados en sud america , por la mezcla y ensamble unico que lograron. Escuché "La poderosa muerte" en un cassete durante un viaje de vacaciones a los 12 años. Cada vez que la escucho me recorren los mismos escalofríos ahora que tengo 54. Me encerraba en la camioneta mientras todos estaban en la playa para escuchar esta canción que me provocaba un abanico de sensaciones que a mi corta edad no podía entender y tampoco podía abandonar. Mis padres y mis tíos se preguntaban cómo era posible que me gustara tanto ese disco y, especialmente, esa canción. Por la misma fecha la televisión chilena pasó en horario estelar la obra completa y todos quienes la vimos quedamos embrujados por esas imágenes, esa poesía y esa música. Pocos años después busqué todo lo que pude hallar y leer de Pablo Neruda. La música de Los Jaivas y la poesía de Neruda se habían vuelto un delirio del que aún no despierto. A los 21 años logré viajar con una mochila en un viaje muy duro y casi sin recursos hasta llegar a la ciudadela por el Camino del Inca. En mi mochila llevaba el Canto General, desde donde se sacó la poesía de esta obra, y un walkman para oir la música en el sitio que le dio origen. La letra finalmente tuvo sentido. La poderosa muerte descansa y deambula como un fantasma por entre las cumbres, los valles y los ríos torrentosos de esa serranía distante y perdida. Y ahí los sueños y delirios del hombre levantaron, piedra tras piedra, bajo las sombras de las hachas de brillo ensangrentado, la ciudadela para adorar a los dioses caprichosos que finalmente fueron abandonados entre estos guijarros y esta maraña enredada en las eras y el tiempo. Macchu Picchu fue un santuario para el culto al sol, y como tal solo era ocupado por las virgenes del sol y por sacerdotes celibes y castos. Cuando la barbarie de los conquistadores españoles puso su pie en el imperio Inca y develó su brutalidad y sus monstruosidades la decisión fue inmediata; se ocultó su existencia a los españoles y sus accesos fueron cortados para que nadie pudiera entrar ni salir y así proteger el tesoro que era su propia cultura y su visión de lo sagrado y lo eterno. Cuando Hiram Bingham descubrió la ciudadela en 1911 oculta bajo la selva no encontró niños sino solo esqueletos de adultos, la gran mayoría mujeres a quienes La poderosa muerte guardó en esta tumba de lo imperecedero.
