Los Vaqueros Fishing trout frenzy! Tons of DFG and Lassen trout have been planted at LV recently, and I came at just the right time. I saw about 200 trout schooling at the back end of the South Cove. GREAT spot to take beginner fishermen, kids, or a place to go to beat the skunk. Make sure to like and subscribe to my channel, I'm almost at 1000 subscribers!

For sure man, obviously no guarantees, fishing is fishing not catching. But it definitely has produced for me when other metals haven't

just found your channel bro. great catches. just started fishing. my first time on vaqueros today. if you don’t mind sharing, your rod, reel & rig setup? i noticed today that some people had some fairly long 9-10 foot rods, maybe with bait.

Hey man, just about any rod and rig set up will work for you. On this trip I was using my salmon/steelhead rod, 9.6 ft. Whatever rod you use the main thing is to use light test. No more than 4 lbs! Trout can see the line really well especially at Los vaqueros.

No, He was referring to Ken at Suburban Trout. I just have the privilege of hanging out with these guys from time to time. Make sure after catching a bunch of fish, to retie your knot so you don’t lose that spoon!😬

You can kinda see in the under water shot, but yea I did have a split shot. If you have a good rod and reel set up you can cast out just the jig and not need a split shot, but I was using my steelhead rod and had too heavy of line.

Is the jighead for the crappie jig a 1/32 or 1/16? And is the split shot mainly used for more casting distance? Won’t it affect the action of the mini jig?

Awesome thank you! I was using 35lb braid to 6lb mono but they say 4lb mono is the best for Los Vaqueros.

Yes you can! There is a sign that says no public access right on the other side of the rock wall. So where I was is just about as far as you can go over there

This was a complete set of tips to help us newbs avoid the skunk! Thanks! Can i ask for the specific crappie jig product name? The Amazon link takes me to a "product" which is actually about 50 powerbait items, each of which can come in specific colors as well! What came up for me was the top of the list, Powerbait Bearded Crazyleg Chigger Craw, and it doesn't look right. Thanks so much!

Did you figure it out? I actually got them from Walmart. They were in a yellowish brown container and labeled Berkeley crappie jigs. I also had some trouble finding them on amazon. If you can’t find them, slow retrieving a spoon or silver, gold, or copper kastmaster would be the next best thing. They looove the kastmaster. Make sure to have the light line! 4lbs is plenty
