I’m running the HW Max 5 and the HW 1100kv motor. Stock spur and 18t pinion i hit 70mph (at 75% throttle) with my Proline masher x tires on the street. I have yet-to run it in the dirt since my swap. I’ll start recording videos for my RU-vid.
@@harbinger26 yes, i had it in a DBXLE 2.0 I’ve since removed that motor (heat issues even with stock pinion) i have the HW 800kv motor in it now with an 18t pinion. Hits low 60’s but i don’t need it to go any faster on the dirt. Unlike my 12s Kraton 8s hitting 84mph. THAT is an insane vehicle.
@@Danspeed3 yeah wow that's insanely fast. Speed always sounds good but it usually results in more accidents and damage and at the weight of these vehicles, it's also a bit dangerous.
My goodness the Losi's look amazing... But that orange one... If I bought that and it done 32 mph out of the box ...... I'd cry. But the blue one rocks it's just nice.... For the size of it I wouldn't want it any faster.
I have the V1, and out the box I clocked it at 42. That's with the Dynamite Fuze set up, which is pretty much a rebranded hobbywing 800kv setup if I'm not mistaken.
Hey bro hope all is well. I personally Love losi vehicles man as I feel the build quality is awesome. I have been using duratrax tires for years and love them. They make probably one of the best and most affordable belted tire there is. I am currently running the duratrax six pack x’s on my xmaxx. They have been great on all surfaces and for 45 - 50 dollars a set you can’t beat ‘em. Stay safe brother……
Earl, I think the new Max4 combo is a perfect fit for these rigs. I don’t own one……yet, but it will be going into my 2.0 when the time comes. Think of the power this combo will deliver. For what it’s worth, I’m running a Max5/800kv, 22T pinion and 48 spur on my rig and I’m getting 53mph.
I think with losi bulkheads you have use aluminum if you want to go crazy with the power , the gears are good but the case will flex . I think 50 mph is plenty though .
I've got 2 Max4's at the moment. They are fantastic. Heck I run one in my Kraton 8s and it's holding up just fine. I will say that running 8s on the max4 vs the xlx2 is much weaker.
Dang it. I'm not in the top ten. 😥 Maybe next time I can get up there. Hope the black outs don't hit you hard. Bet you can get 100 from one of those. Check your settings on the castle. Mine did the same thing, and it was in the radio.
56mph hw setup 59 mph castleis my gues. I paused the video right b4 you started running. I'm probably way off. I've never owned a dbxl but have a kraton 8s with the max5 800 kv combo. With the 34/39 gears.
I would assume they would have been closer in speed. Since the castle setup had a bigger pinion than the other the spur is 2 teeth bigger but having 17t pinion should have made it closer than it was. 32 mph seems like there is something going on. That's almost 20mph difference.
I prefer the 17t pinion over the 18t. My diffs always blow the front over the rears. Got few sets ring and pinions on hand lookn into aluminum housings for it.

I’m on my second light bar on my 2.0 and the second already has a lead burning out I have 1 new spare left but I’ll be damn if I use a third already. I’m running mechanical brakes hitec servos on 7.4 volts now running castle bec 2.0 still 7.4v shouldn’t be having issues with such low bec voltage. Also I don’t jump my cars so eliminate that theory!
That’s funny my light bar did the same thing haha I also ran the same lockups on mine so crazy. absolutely agree about the turning on these things they even added a dual servo mount to help with that and it was still crappy
@@earlmoorhead5555 earl don’t you have an 1100kv castle motor in the losi dbxle 2.0? Or is it an 800kv? Well was was the issue because there is no way top speed was only 32mph on the 2.0 with the xlx2 geared 17/50 you should at least be in the high 40s with that gearing???????? It’s killing me
Those things are just too dam heavy for those systems. The max4 helps a lot, which you can obviously use the 800kv castle. But I just dropped a TP 5860 or 5870 1070kv in it. It really wakes the car up. A lot. You still have the torque with it being a 6 pole motor, but the rpm’s too
