Just found your videos and I love your take on the overthinking and other motivational problems holding us back. Your notion of "breaking up with" a fantasy self is brilliant and really speaks to me. In fact, I have related to everything I've heard you say so far! Thank you and take care!
"Don't try to declutter your life at lightning speed for the sake of trying to keep up with someone else's simple life" I like to call that 'Keeping down with the Joneses'
Seen videos and read that decluttering is the same as collecting cause u did so over time so decluttering is the same way unless u just bag stuff up what not need and just donate or toss it without thinking why u dont want it any. and u dont wanna regret donating or tossing somehting u really wanted keep. so going minimal is just a way to combine and try have less so u only see what u real value and see to use to save buying a service or anything later. so i try remove any i real not want and put by door to donate or toss anytime. and any keeps i keep it away from door so i know it a keeper.
@@cable30 Suggestion: As we are taught, minimalism is intentional and life changing if one commits to the journey. I could declutter the excess in my apartment, and donate to others, but where is the peace. If decluttering is the intent, and that's okay, where is the internal peace and love for self/others result in removing those things which may "weigh us down." Basically, we can enjoy the journey of a life anew. Formula: Decluttering will lead to a simple and peaceful life, but minimalism will bring peace of soul. I could be wrong.
@@PurrsMom Its all good. the key thing i see is do what makes u happy. the minimalist life is not for everyone cause some or many think u gotta get rid of all, but u dont. just cutback and if what u got make u happy then good. u do what works right for u anytime. out of so many, some or many may see things the same way while others may change and keep more or less anytime.
I get that asking people to click the bell so that they get notifications whenever you put out a new video helps you and your channel. But if we're talking about distractions, many of them come from our mobile devices. Having a phone that's constantly blasting notifications at you is incredibly distracting. That is why I have disabled a lot of notifications on my phone and don't click the bell for any of the people that I follow on RU-vid. I watch videos whenever I have or make time for it. If that means I'm not the first one to watch it, that's fine with me. I'd rather be late than distracted.
I am building my motivation to declutter by accumulating hundreds of books and articles about decluttering. Haha. Great stuff, Ronald. Your charming, sweet manner and delivery are so fine.
I decluttered too much a few years back, and after a short while of remembering one or two items that I missed.... I realized I felt as good that I missed it, as if it had been there sitting in the way most of the time.
C E R T I F I E D OVERTHINKER! That's me! I always enjoy watching your videos. They hold me accountable in getting rid of things i no longer use and help me be more mindful of the things I carry that are no longer helping me grow (which in turn I get rid of) Awesome video!! Keep going!
This was perfect timing thank you soooo much I been so stuck. I feel like I got rid of everything I don’t NEED but still feel like I have tooo much 😞😞😞😞 I shouldn’t be struggling to find simple things that’s how I know I have too much still
For me, all my motivation is self-motivation; motivation is my internal drive and all that changes for me is the value I create for it. It can be intrinsic or extrinsic, maybe even externally validated, but motivation always comes from within and from a place of value alignment that I create for myself and my outcomes. If I clarify those elements, the why is all but articulated for me. The how is all that's left to be uncovered.
The timing and relevancy of this in my life right now. This video came out just when I need it. Self-motivation and self-discipline are really difficult at times and sometimes it feels easier to just fall back into old habits and patterns. Or just stop midway through decluttering. The mental clutter is so true and real. Love the pointers and prompts to ask ourselves and reflect!
"Can I have your shoes?" 😂 Amazing as always, Ron! My accountability partner is my little sister. Whenever I need some perspective regarding clutter, she talks me through why I need to hold on to (/buy) something. She's so mindful that she passes a little mindfulness on to me😄 And yes, she has kept many of the clothes I've decluttered!🤭
I have been watching you for quite some time. I need to tell you that you look happier, calmer, and wiser in that amount of time. I can see just in your body language, what decluttering has done for you. Amazing to see this transformation and thank you for taking us along on your journey 😊
My house is perfectly decluttered but I'm somehow constantly decluttering anyway so.. it never ends! As you say, find a way to make it enjoyable at least 😅
Great video. Mindset is everything for minimalism to help in freeing me from clutter. I have found through my decluttering of stuff and metal decluttering, that the stuff I was accumulating was a distraction for my feeling trapped in my home life. We are a family of 6 and I am a care giver for 2 family members and also live with chronic pain. As I've started my minimalist journey, I have stopped putting myself last and am enjoying more freedom and more energy in my life. To me stuff is just stuff, so getting rid of "stuff" has been pretty easy. I have also stopped the mindless shopping and instead am paying down my debt. I know that it will take some time to get to where I want to be with my decluttering, but I am so glad to be reaping the benefits of minimizing my "stuff" now...whew!!!
I LOVED this video! Thanks, Ronald! Every time I watch one of your videos, I feel like I have arrived at a cave-a minimalist cave-in the Himalayas and am seated before a guru! I’ll be watching this one in particular more than once. “Can I have your shoes?” 😂
I appreciated this. Lately, it's felt like I've had a decluttering hangover. My husband said he can tell when I'm organizing happily versus not by the sound of my steps. I probably need to take a break or take on much smaller projects.
It's okay to take a break and focus on occupying yourself with activities that don't require so many decisions. It's like hitting the refresh button for your brain! After a day or two, or maybe more, you'll find yourself happily returning to decluttering. It's not a race. Your own timing is just perfect.
i am still in the i cover stage of decluttering my mind . thanks Ronald you have given me a new perspective as well as a new way to think about decluttering
This is always an issue for me. The play list you added will be helpful. I am an overthinker too, now feeling bad I never got certified. I have two boxes to donate tomorrow. Have a few larger things for sale on FB marketplace and I do feel like huge progress has been made .. but those stacks and stacks of papers. Daunting.
Team Banks, I love the "Restructure" point and take it as an opportunity to reflect on the "Why?" of minimalism. Ultimately, changing the narrative of sameness. That is, in the "Why's?" will this road allow me to step back and be in the moment -- experiencing the joys, tears, fears, and living a simple life. I hope that we can encourage one another.
Today was the perfect day for me to watch this. So much great and thought provoking information. And funny too! I definitely need to narrow down my WHY. I feel like I have so many reasons why that they get lost in the mix and nothing specific stands out. I think I need to practice some tips from this video. Thank you so much! 😁
Minimalism comes just naturally with technology imo. You have all your music, movies, games etc on it. I dont even know how people can have alot of thinks at home except the essentials.
Myself, I've decluttered myself to the point that I'd have to go down to the local Goodwill store and buy things that I really don't need just to declutter again.
Hey Ronald! This video really resonated with me. I was, all this while, just hoping that decluttering and minimalism will somehow bring clarity and positivity in my life, but I hadn't really questioned my WHY! I am going to question why do I want to do this...instead of assuming that by following this practice something good will happen
What if comparison is more about your own past, not another person? Somehow needing enough to make up for an early life of severe lack. Thankfully most of it was found thrifted so it can go back in reverse of how it came. ... and yes, stuff becomes a distraction for painful thoughts and emotions.
thank you very much for the production and incredible approach. I have an experience about honest self-inquiry that is called CEBOLA DA SELOCONSCIENCIA. basically consists of what you have taught and taught
I wouldn't say I have lost the motivation but I have kind of ran out of things to get rid of. I think I am chasing the rush I had when I let a lot of things go, so the buzz isn't there as much as it was before.
They only one that fill my internal flame is God 😊 otherwise my why can never be big enough. I mean I took on many thing and came to the end of my own motivations and God has said keep going.
We are in a era of streami g services. Any movie you could possibly want to rewatch is online. I kept about 10 movies that i actuallt rewatch regularly. This coming from a dvd hoarder. Donate your collection to a library, which btw. Is a great free way to watch a movie without owning it
Is anyone trying to downgrade to older phone? Im trying to use old phone so I don't get constantly distracted with ads, news etc. So far I have been checking like an addict my email, googling everything ...
