I offer guidance to help you declutter and take ownership of your life and work. Oh, I also write poetry.
My mission is to help you break free from feeling stuck and live a life you have creative control over. However, I believe there’s only one way to ensure this - and it’s not wishing or hoping for it.
The only reliable way to find success on this journey is through constant, disciplined pursuit of more clarity.
So, every week, I share evidence-based advice and practical guidance to help you on this journey.
I think black clothes are cool and i have a lot of it, even though it's not the best choice for my natural coloring (summer type - low contrast, light skin, eyes and hair).
On time. In prayer I know all of this you're saying a year ago yet i don't know how to get out of this. God has removed everything (old friends of 10+ years who were leeches, church of 8 years, old job of 10yrs) and I still don't know where to go from here. Old me was a go getter super ambition now after a series of unexpected battles I feel worn out and can't find that old me anymore.
Enojed the first 12 seconds of the video until I scrolled down to read the comments. After realising that i didn't really listen i had to restart the video.
All of your content is inspirational, I think largely because it's so genuine, and kind. This one I especially enjoyed, and can relate to the overlapping diagram. One thought on that, that might help people, when deciding what's relatively "easy" to de-clutter is an area where it's easy to decide where things go an where there are clear places for each. Books were great for that - keep, sell, donate. But I'm realizing that sometimes things like "tools" are tough, because it can be a lot of work to organize the "keep" pile. Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks for the content.
Hmm I mostly do not agree with step 2 by making a schedule etc. Decluttering just takes the time you need and on your terms. I went over my television cabinet a couple of times already when I had the time. Each time I let go of something for example a thing I couldn’t let go of two weeks ago. I just pick a space when I have the emotional space or some spare time to fill in. And some things I go over like 3 or even more times.
I am a seamstress saves a lot as my waist and hips wouldn't fit into anything on offer as im small. 21 inches which is expensive to buy for. I cam now take them in and maybe with experience offer it as a service. Was taught in January.
I love clothes. A lot of money gets wasted on clothes thats are too loose . Need to learn to be a seamstress. I also needs to stop buying snacks as they're making me heavy as ive an underactive thyroid. It's legit slow I walk 6 hours and still put 2 kilo on weekly. Not wasting another penny on food. Im looking at metabolism boosting tea.
I decided not to bother selling things but just to donate almost all of it, except for a few really expensive things. I figure the time an effort to sell things is just another layer of stress and now that I'm moving out a box or two every weekend to the thrift store, the clutter is quickly disappearing.
The amount of peace being a minimalist creates in the home, mind, and soul is so healing. My life is simple and I can focus on my passions because of all my free time. Reading, gardening in my backyard, watching my favorite shows… very relaxing life now
Clutter shifting perfectly describes what I do and have been doing. My mother even more so. I just didn’t have a name for it but I see it now. I actually have been following your 3 step plan. Trying to help my mother declutter, downsize, and get rid of stuff helped jolt me into realizing what I needed to do. I’m determined to get there way before she does.
On your last question: [paraphrase] ... "do you promise to ...?" 'I do' [<<< that's a first, btw HA! Serial escapee] . I really like this masculine no-nonsense approach - straight to the core: "This is what works, AND it won't cramp your style". Keep your core values. Liked, subscribed, notifications ON. Thank you so much. And thank you for not telling me to buy cheap plastic baskets for dishwasher pods!!! My hero - don't leave me!!! 😊
I’m 3 minutes into this, and already gripped with emotion. I’m in my late 60’s, and finally wakening from covert and malignant narcissistic abuse. It’s terrifying to let go of all I’ve ever known and being told who I was, since a narcissists ultimate goal is to shape you to benefit themselves. I haven’t given up, but I’ve been floundering a bit. I fluctuate between loving all of my vintage, busy decor and comfiness, VS the quiet of Danish Modern 😂. Quite a difference between them, I’m curious who the “real me” is.
A long time ago, I realized that I was clutter shifter. This is the first time I am hearing this title. I was and still am great at organizing, now I am even more aware not to clutter shift, but it does still happen. Everyone once in a while I binge on decluttering videos to help me continue to find things I no longer need. Yesterday, I needed something in my sewing box which I rarely go through...and found quite few items that I can give away. Now I will go back take a closer look. I always enjoy Ronald's videos because he is so calm and his own being seems so pure and uncluttered.
I'm interested to see how your minimalism lifestyle is impacted when the kid grows! I'm sure there are tons of things newborns and toddlers don't really need, but I think at some point kids start to want certain things and of course you don't want to give them everything they want, but some things start to become important to them as individuals. I guess moderation is key here, wouldn't want to force kids to be more minimalist than what is comfortable to them, and at the same time it's okay to put some boundaries in place regarding stuff.
Congratulations on living debt free! It's not easy sometime, but as someone who lived in debt for a while paying down hospital bills, and paying my old friend back, working overtime was WORTH IT to be out of debt! It taught me a valuable lesson: Lead me not into temptation. I can find it myself! Which means that i don't go to Any grocery store hungry wo a list! Don't go to garage sales or "rumage" sales if you're an impulse biyer, like me!
Tips for people who are poor and save stuff because they think they might need it in the future, and won't let go because they can't afford to buy it again?
I needed this today. Thank you. I have followed you for a few years now and have always been encouraged by your content. You mentioned fake people. I completely agree, and strongly believe this is a huge player in the decline of our society. We cannot be someone else and should be thankful that we are unique, even with our faults. I will listen to this multiple times and will recommend to friends and family. God bless you and your family.
After all these years, Ronald is the best to present this topic. Most youtubers on this subjet are women who keep talking and talking too much and say too little useful information.
What a lovely, kind, gentle, intelligent, articulate man you are and thank you for helping and inspiring us along; I could listen to a lot more of you. Talking a lot of sense, really resonating!!!
Ooh Tetris champion YES!! Although because of this I've become skilled at Jenga whenever I need to use those items too. I've just seen another one of your videos talking about the 'Frozen Zone' too and I truly relate to everything you've said in these two videos. It's painfully accurate to hear. Part of me wanted to click off to something else but I know you're right so instead I've subscribed.
The trouble is - all you Minimalists on RU-vid wear ONLY Black or Grey, and your Houses are sterile and empty and devoid of Color and Comfort and Life.
Great watch and agree with the majority. Minimalism certainty gave a great uplift to my life. Though the money your saving in the process, dont just not spend it, spend that on activities and life experiences, massively important to a fulfilled life, its there to be spent still, but definitely not on the unneeded latest gadget.
The only thing I'd say needs improvement was that writing was his only tip for mental. There are other ways other than writing but i do understand that that's his way.
My old dad used to say "there should be a place for everything, and everything in it's place". I didn't know when I was young just how far reaching this statement really is!
I’m not a minimalist but I feel like so when I’m decorating! I can’t stand all those random nick nacks and patty wacks just there and taking up space!!! Tbh I like my area to look spacious without a bunch of junk!!!
