Loss of motive power…again 

I just ordered my 2024 Willys 4xe today in the lovely Tuscadero color. The wait is going to be rough. Good thing I drive on the highway maybe twice a year! I'm being sarcastic, thanks for making us aware of the issue.

4xe '23 and zero problems.

4xe 21, happened to me only once on the highway before the update. It never happened again since.

2024 4xe that just had the update for the defrost issue....no problems so far. I believe the update had other changes but only found one so far, it changed the dash display time out when first charging to off in about 6 seconds. Only 3600 miles so far. No loss of motive power.

Have a 2021. Lost power about a month ago on a 45mph road. Jeep would only roll. Luckily got off the road. Said a charging system issue. Restarted and was able to drive to dealership. They said it was due to some corrosion at the charging port. Doesn't make sense that something like this would be allowed to cause such a dangerous situation.

Update from my previous post: we dropped off at local Jeep dealer this morning and relayed our experience to the service advisor. They called about an hour and a half later, informing us that this service has been elevated to a “star” level service. We were told the battery system will need to be replaced. They said all of our issues we had experienced the past month (and longer with shortened electric range and abysmal regen) was related to the same underlying issue having to do with the battery and charging system. Once more information is known, we will be updated. We requested a loaner vehicle from Jeep

I went on a 1000+ mile road trip this week and only had one strange instance where I was at a stop light and when the light turned green, the car would not move forward. I moved the shifter from D to P and back to D and then it worked. Not sure what was going on there. Sahara 4xe produced in October 21, has the software updates. Before the update, I did have a loss of power episode going about 70 MPH on I-5, scared the crap out of me.

I got 57k miles on a 21 and no trouble

I have a 2021 and last week on Highway I was feeling like it wouldn’t accelerate enough. It was struggling. I think I’ve had all software updates. I am at 100k miles.

Purchased in Jeep Wrangler 4xe in March 2021. Just had load of power this past Friday. Also had the recall and updates earlier this year. Result was major loss of electric range and regen braking is almost non existent. Was able to restart a couple hours later and drive it home. Will have towed to dealer Tuesday. Will keep you posted

I had a 2021 (ordered as soon as they were released) and for the entirety of my 3 years with it I never had a loss of motive power. The experience sounded frightening though when being described by various community members. I counted myself lucky.

‘21 4xe owner here. I’ve found that I’ve experienced loss of power most often when I’m doing highway speeds on just the electric motor. The accelerator will suddenly become unresponsive and the only way I’ve found to get the vehicle to respond is press the accelerator all the way so that the ICE kicks in. I remember the first time it happened to me, the electric motor just cut off and I had slowed down significantly in the left lane (due to the regen still being active) before the ICE kicked in revving aggressively. Hopefully Jeep comes up with a solution soon!

Hi Chris, thanks for video. I saw this investigation report a couple of days ago. I said come on. This should already be fixed. I have a 21 4×e produced in June 21. Just hit 30 K a couple of weeks ago. Have not had a problem with any shutdown. Guess now ill be walking on eggshells worrying about it shutting down on the interstate with heavy 85 mph traffic with a semi doing 100 turning me into a Aunt Sarahs pancake. Last recall with the battery i had to worry about getting blown up and then being deeped fryed KFC style. Whats next with this thing. Guess ill have to take another sleeping pill tonight like i did last night after the Butler, PA incident. Oh...i used to work corrosion control on aircraft in the Navy. I could spot corrosion on an aircraft airframe like a dermatologist spotting skin cancer. I removed it and treated. I looked my jeep over for corrosion. None found. Ceramic coating looks great. Hey...unless you live near the beach in salty air...there should be ZERO corrosion on these jeeps. Cant understand why yours had some. Good day and ill keep u posted on any shutdowns.😢😮

Happen so my 2021 with all the recall done. I was lucky and was pack when that happen. There was an error and something like vehicle plug but not charging. But was just park at a Walmart parking lot and vehicle just shut down. Only happen that 1 time.

Mine is a 2021 4xe wrangler and when I lost all motor power I was doing 65-70 on the highway. Jeep had the vehicle for 2 months before they said they had to replace the entire back battery. Idk. It has not happen again in almost a year, however, my engine light comes on and off all the time and Jeep can’t seem to fix it.

While I haven't experienced a loss of power in my 2022 Rubi 4xe, I do notice however, when my Jeep is in hybrid and the ICE kicks in, either I'm climbing a mild hill on the hiway, or on a level part of the same hiway, I get a ever so slight push or a pulse in the forward motion of my Jeep, it's so subtle that if you didn't drive it enough you wouldn't notice it, but as an owner and driver of my Jeep, I certainly can tell when it happens, try to explain it to the dealership is a bit frustrating because, it didn't stop, there is no warning light.

Haven’t had that happen yet….. i’ve had two of these zero issues.

My 4xe has a very disturbing problem in 4lo going down a mountain road there are times you let off the gas and it continues to drive forward on electric and does not regen and continues applying 7-8kw going downhill! and only option is to hit the brakes and it continued to drive the electric motor for a short time after applying brakes. I managed to get this on video today on my iPhone. Crazy. Electric mode downhill in 4lo is worse. 4hi it works perfectly.

Hey Chris, something I’ve noticed is that massive flashlight clipped on right next to to your head. Thinking in a side impact situation that could become a projectile. You might want to reconsider its location. Just an observation.
