October built 2021 Just did a range test 38F Stock Sahara with Rubicon 4xe K02 33" 24 miles, 10 miles of that was going 50-55mph mostly it was 20-25 mph
@@Wrangler4XEFans Nice, I suspect they're running out of the remanufactured ones pretty quickly as this becomes more common. I got the one with the R part number, but hopefully it has mostly new cells or we'll be doing this again at some point.
@@CIAG4PNP My goal has always been to keep this Jeep for a long time. We’ll have to see how that plays out. I’m not gonna lie, this issue with the batteries has my confidence shaken.
@@Ali-yh9qileasing means you are perpetually out of pocket renting, my 4xe will be paid off in a couple of months, I'm saving over $3,000 a year in gas, realistically these batteries should be costing less than $4,000
@@Ali-yh9qi Leasing the '21 4xe proved to be a smart decision - very low payments were reported - the market value is far less than the average residual values which means the driver won the risk play - Jeep has a few jeeps that will be turned in at the anticipated residual of about 37k and RETAIL used is 32k
@Wrangler4XEFans thank you for the reply. Your experience will help me decide in 3 years to go with the V6 or the 4xe. I like the concept. But the V6 I can get parts for and work on. Perhaps in 3 years, the tech will be ironed out.
Last night my wife’s Rubicon took 13.1kW, the night before it only took 10.1kW…fully depleted both days. Her range has been between 16 and 22 miles. Same drive to work each morning, same time, similar temperatures etc.
@@billwaterhouse5894 I would guess that your battery State Of Health is around 80% and that it will throw a P0BBD code soon. Mine was down in the 10kWh range before it threw the code.
@@chrispomplun1511 No. I’m very curious about that too. I’m guessing it is a chemical breakdown issue of some sort. Mileage doesn’t seem to matter and there are quite a few early 21s showing this same issue. One only has 11,000 miles on it. So it seems like maybe a bad batch of batteries.
Thanks for showing us the first test on the new battery. You need to do the test i did. 35 to 40 stop and go. See how far you get starting with a 100% charge. Looking forward to more videos. Oh...i recently made a road trip to Myrtle Beach. 223 miles each way. Jeep did great. Burned a half tank going down. Same coming back. Display said i was getting 25 MPG..Ha! Looks good anyway.
I had a Jk with the dual top package, and the freedom panels leaked at the center joint at the windshield. Nothing could stop it, the dealer couldn’t even fix it. They actually told me frequent removal of the panels will cause leaks. Wtf is the point of having them then? It was right at the windshield where the panels latches on. I’d have to shove paper towels in there to at least stop some of it. It was pretty bad leak. I think the panels were warped or something. The wouldn’t replace them under the warranty though because it was from taking them off. Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
@@Cr16604 That’s ridiculous. For that to be true, a whole bunch of other people would have to have the same experience. They just didn’t want to do the right thing.
@@Wrangler4XEFans This was 2009, and jeeps weren’t as easy to get at that time. The bankruptcy slowed production. And I think you’re right, they didn’t want to deal with it. Like I said , I think it was warped, because it wasn’t the seals. I think it was Chrysler more than the dealer. Tops were in short supply and they didn’t want to replace mine. Chrysler was in such bad shape in 2009 they offered the bumper to bumper lifetime warranty for $1500. $100 deductible to replace pretty much everything that wasn’t a wear item. I still have it. It hasn’t been my main daily driver for a long time but I’d be nuts to give up that warranty on a wrangler. I’ve had 2 heater cores replaced, both covered no problems. The window switches, parts on the traction control system, and the track bar bracket on the front axle. All that they covered, no problem. Except the damn top. That warranty has paid for its self and then some.
@@Steemax No, my driving habits have completely changed now. Not only do I now have a company vehicle for my daily driver but I’m also not having to drive as much for personal stuff like I was.
@@xseaangelx Mine is a 21. My Jeep is the only 4XE delivered in the first quarter of 2021. The warranty is 10 years but they should last much longer than that. We’re seeing a number of 21 models that are having battery issues. This issue doesn’t seem indicative of most 21s. It just seems like there was a bad batch of batteries or something.
I would sure like to talk with you or someone regarding the issues I am having with my 2023 Sahara. Getting stuck in FORM, dealership gave me a loaner 2023 with older programming/firmware and had no issues with that one. I feel like my dealership is out of ideas.
@@speedracer5039 FORM is caused by either the 90 day timer on the gas tank or by the software thinking you have oil dilution. The gas tank timer can be reset by getting gas. The oil dilution is a little harder sometimes. If it’s oil dilution, there are several things you can try. First, go for a nice 20-45 minute drive. You want to get it warm and keep it there. Many have used eSave+charge. Don’t charge before this drive. You can even pull the shifter to the left and shift down one gear to keep the RPMs a little higher than normal to get the temp up. Don’t get the RPMs too high, just a little above normal. Another tactic some people have used is to park it, turn it on and let it idle in place for 20-30 minutes. If all else fails, an oil change and reset should do the trick. Do you know if your Jeep has all of the updates? Have you had the 04B recall done? When you drive, do you leave it in hybrid mode or do you put it in electric mode? Hybrid mode can cause a lot of short engine runs which can lead to FORM issues depending on your daily use case.
I have now received this error code as well. I had it die completely on me 3 weeks ago, they fixed it, but today it happened again. Got the code. Right at 55k miles. Got my wrangler in April of 21.
I would deman a new vehicle because they will need to paint the whole Jeep and that paint will not be as good as factory and your resale will be dinged when it's found out the whole thing got painted.
@@user-mb4wh2xf5c I’ve never really been concerned about the resale value myself. I bought this Jeep for me to enjoy so the resale value isn’t a concern. The Granite Crystal is a standard color so matching it shouldn’t be a big deal. We’ll have to wait and see.
Why would jeep (or any brand)care about after sales service, especially under warranty??? As long as people are still dumb enough to buy their products...
Oh great. The CEL recently popped up on my '21 Rubicon and has essentially the exact symptoms that you described 🙄 Mine has about 30K miles and is completely stock.
@@DavidMAdkins16 There are quite a few 21s having this issue. No clue what the percentage is. I don’t feel like it’s a tremendously high percentage overall but still quite a few.
@@JanetGarcia-lw5te That’s not the case here. This was a bad ECH. When it’s temperature based, it just has an EMU message without the additional CHOC. Now that Jeep has updated the software on all of the 4XEs, this same state would also throw a Check Engine Light to designate that the ECH was dead. But back when this video was shot, there was a communications issue with the associated control module.
I have a 2024 4xe high altitude, i put 7,000 miles on it in 45 days. At 7100 miles i had multiple misfires and the car almost stalled several times. After shut down it never replicates

Why would anyone who has ever used a rechargeable tool want a ev auto.every time I start a job with a cordless electric tool I've always had to finish up walking back to my garage to get a corded tool and 50 feet of extention cord plugged into a nuclear coal or gas power source. In general battery powered things suck.
The end result from this and the blended hybrid comparison is...for best mileage, let the car do its thing... but those modes WOULD have some use, so good to know about them. Thanks!!!
So far so good with my 2022 Wrangler 4xe, no noticible degradation, but here is a question for the community, any of you get wet front carpets because of water leaking in from the from door A frames?
*"bricking"* is the term used for a reason meaning to literally harden. Most batteries do not actually brick at all but fail to pass electricity from cathode to annode which can be for any number of reasons no different from lead acid (connecting cables put on in reverse for example.) No problem with battery usually tho quite the opposite #gruber_motors
No...on short distance out and back trips like soccer mom. Put it in Electric mode. I do Hybrid mode on open hwy. On long distance trip I will use esave part the way to charge battery so I'll have some Electric on arrival at destination. Out & back trips to store...school..etc...Electric mode always. I'll occasionally turn the gas on to circulate oil and lube engine. Winter time the auto refresh will do it for you. Summer it never kicks in.
Well, as far as parts availability goes, you may be riding the incoming wave that demands they stock battery replacement. I just hope that they've fixed these issues in the 2024's, otherwise I guess I'll prepare for a battery replacement in 2027 or 8.
I love my Wrangler 4xe! That being said, my lease is up in a few weeks and I won't be buying it out or getting another one. I have little confidence in the future reliability and serviceability of these based on my time with it. And that's aside from the crazy MSRP increases over the past few years. I'm hoping the Recon is fully baked when it hits showrooms, but I certainly will not be an early Stellantis product adopter again anytime soon.
On another side of this, it has to be difficult on the dealers service end as well. I am sure they are not staffed or equipped to take on a large increase in extensive maintenance/recall items. They have all the other vehicles and routine maintenance to also take care of.
Subscriber in Canada, I have 48 k on my 4xe (2022) when i tell the service dept about the slight acceleration/deceleration in hybrid mode, and when I take it in for them to have a look at it, they almost always tell me, the service staff didn't notice anything like that in all modes, they're not sure what youre talking about.....it's aggravating because, if you've driven your vehicle long enough, and notice the slightest nuance of your vehicle, you notice the smallest things that weren't there before.
