At the end of this song when he says thank you Charlie it’s because he lost his tooth and he was joking that Charlie made him do that, then he kisses his guitar as the song ends. I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin August 26th 1990. The fog was so bad that we stopped and got a hotel on the way home. The next morning when I heard the horrible news was one of the saddest days of my life. The lineup SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. RIP SRV!🎸

Stevie wrote this song for his good friend Charley, a Dallas guitar shop owner, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He built that white guitar for Stevie out of parts. So this is an emotional performance and probably most fans favorite. But he had to work through a lot of technical issues while giving the best ever performance. You were playing your broom when he switched guitars. He started with a brown guitar, tuned a string in the first few bars, requested a new guitar, kept singing and playing while the switch was happening. Then he had to adjust his foot pedals for the new guitar, (everyone thinks he dropped a pick but he was always adjusting foot pedals as necessary. (He stashed extra picks on the mic stand). Then he had to go adjust his amps to get the level of sustain he needed for this song. Then, after playing with his teeth, he dislodged a false tooth or cap and it fell to the floor and it had to be retrieved. But that never stopped him from giving the most stellar performance💙🎸🎶‼️. For the absolute fastest, smoothest guitar switch watch "Look at Little Sister" from Austin City Limits 1989. He pops a string while soloing, changes position on the fret board, keeps playing while his tech brings out a new guitar, switches out while singing and playing never missing a beat‼️ you won't believe it even when you see it, so don't play your broom or you will miss it😉😳.

@@chuckhollands7528 of course he needed it retrieved off the stage and immediately whirled around trying to find it on the floor. He mouthed the words “my tooth” to his tech and as he was approaching the mic stand he mouthed “sorry” for the tech having to pick that up for him. All the while he hasn’t missed a single beat and puts on a great performance to the end
