i have read the book several times,, it is one of my favorites,,, but then i get lazy and listen to the audio book even more,,, i love this story,, ever since the 80's and i remember seeing the movie on tv back in the 70s, I always loved that song, i had an instrumental version by roger williams,, i wore out that cassette tape

The two films of Lost Horizon and even the novel by James Hilton are quite different than the lamaseries in Bhutan , Tibet, and Nepal. Yet they do have touches of the philosophy, heart, Truth and spirit i realized in temple, study , and meditation.

Life in the lamaseries and temples are not as in Hollywood or in the movies , yet the rewards in their ways are much more and worth more than jade, amber , or platinum. The oldest person I met was more than 118 years old by their calendar.

I wish Shangri-La existed. I'd go there in an instant to escape this cruel unjust suffering of all Creation being punished for Original Sin. Two naive ignorant idiots called Adam and Eve were beguiled into disobeying God. Thus so all humanity, the innocent along with the guilty, and the penitent along with the intransigent are punished their entire lives. For the unrepentant the suffering continues in Hell. The innocent go straight to Heaven. The penitent who have not sufficiently expiated their sins on Earth spend time in Purgatory until God is satisfied. I believe in all Holy Mother Catholic Church teaches, but at almost 70 years old I keep begging God for Purgatory to escape Satan's grasp and my horrible unbearable suffering! I often feel like Shakespeare's King Lear who cried out, "I am a man more sinned against than sinning!" La vita non va bene! La vita e' tutto dolere!

Shangri La exists. It is a Buddhist country in Southeast Asia called Thailand, and I have lived there for 10 years, I am 66 years old. You can live on 1/4 what it costs in any western country, there is no racism or bigotry, no insane gun lust, just peaceful warm sincere people who were never enslaved and never had slaves for 2000+ years. There are mountains, jungles, cities, islands, beaches, a tropical climate, little mom and pop shops and stores up and down every street, sidewalk and street vendors, mysterious and enchanting, a new and fascinating experience awaits with every new day. However, your ugly ramblings about suffering and hell and your entire judgmental attitude would not be welcome, and I doubt you would be worthy of the experience. Your suffering comes from your own mind and its twisted religious notions. Stop begging for God to solve your problems and take responsibility for your own life Therapy would be a good place to start.
