I originally got inspiration for this film after watching both Tenet by Christopher Nolan and the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma. I wanted to try and push the limits of what I had seen done in video by attempting to shoot something almost entirely in reverse. The process ended up being a lot more challenging than I originally expected because I needed to plan out everything from the storyline to the different shots and transitions the opposite of how they would actually be presented.
I have seen so many short films revolving around the concept of living life to the fullest and pursuing the things you love. These topics resonate closely with me in my own life, but I wanted to find a way to show these overdone things in a new perspective.
Lost in Time was my way of presenting this in my own unique style. The video revolves around the concept of "If time suddenly went backwards, what would you do differently?" which I use as a way to symbolize that we only get one shot at making the most of our lives, and we should live every second of it as a unique experience. I find it more and more common for myself and others to get caught up with the distraction of electronics, but find it important that we are still prioritizing the things that actually bring us real joy. For me this is found in nature through activities like surfing, skating and biking, as well as in spending time with others. I hope that this film helps you take a second to think about the things that are most important to you, and helps you prioritize your time so that you can better spend it doing what you love.
