This song with Goodbye Enri is perfect. I recommend reading the one shot. It also definitely deserves another read to fully understand everything in the story.
Nah it's far from happy, like, what's there to be genuinely happy about? Mom died, Eri died, Eri reborn and basically becomes a new person only attached from old memories, MC's entire family dying? I am just confused
@@-gj3nu but was she really reborn? Since we are watching it from the pov of a viewer watching a movie. So you could also think of it as before she died she asked him to film her and the footage of her being a vampire is just so it has that lil bit of fantasy in it.
@@-gj3nu It's bittersweet, but the ending leaves something for us to take away from Goodbye Eri It gave us an understanding of how big of a role escapism plays in our life, and that we need it to keep pushing on. Eri was reborn and forgot all the bad things, but the fact that she only remembers the good things is what matters to her. The fact this perspective of her was captured, and she gets to watch it, that's what makes her happy. And it's what makes the MC happy too. Why? he's glad she will remember him through his movie. His film that he recut so many times, over and over again. He finally realized why he did that. It's because he wanted to preserve the memory of a girl he deeply cared about, not by showing the good and bad, but by only keeping in the positive and beautiful blissful moments that made him happy. Because in the end, Eri wanted him to choose how she wants to be remembered. So he chose what he thought is best for someone who is now gone. Eri will forever be remembered in a positive light, and while Yuta feels a disconnect from this due to the fact he knows everything that actually happened, he still decides to depict her life as a blissful one. It's bittersweet, because in reality he knows who Eri truly was before, but others will not. Others will know her and remember who she was because of that movie, but that's beautiful. There is a beauty in ignorance and escapism, and that's what Goodbye Eri, at least in my opinion, is trying to tell us.
I really enjoyed this one shot so much and considering it's a one shot, it has an immaculate quality to it that surpasses way beyond your expectations for a typical oneshot, I hope that Tatsuki Fujimoto keeps making brilliant works like these, his one shots and especially his most notable works Fire Punch and Chainsaw man. It's really impressive once you know his age and what a huge amount of success he's made and the quantity of his quality works. Also, MAPPA has stated that they'd like to animate any of his works, and I'd really love to see them animate them all lol, maybe that's asking too much but I'd love to see either Fire Punch having an anime and Look Back or Goodbye Eri as movies would be great.
He has weirdness some times, elder sister younger sister is just to mad to be taking into account, still is creativeness and spectacular mind really is something to praise, I prefer a guy that sometimes gives us really fucked up stories but also very profound and compelling.
I've seen so many Lost Kitten Goodbye Eri edits and this one is the best ive seen. It feels alive. Like a montage with and actual arc instead of just pieced together events.
In Fire Punch, Togata mentions Scott Pilgrim which is a movie Metric made a song for which is a movie Tatsuki has obviously seen due to him making that reference so it's confirmed he has listened to Metric
I ALWAYS THOUGHT OF GOODBYE ERI WHEN I LISTEN THIS SONG OMG😭😭😭 YOUR VIDEO IS SO GOOD, I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE OTHERS WITH THE SAME VISION I really like the way you edited the manga panels along side the song and rhythm! Keep up woth the good work bcs this one is sure amazing!
@@ZeroTolerence0 afaik there is a reze edit of lost kitten, i've seen people talk abt it in comments but i still haven't seen the video lmao. maybe they're looking for that specific edit, and like me, the two people above still haven't seen the video but saw comments abt it that's why they're asking for a link
so i've been trying to come up with ways that this story would make sense (and not be completely depressing), and i think i've finally got it. (btw this is just the way i interpreted the story so it's probably not accurate). SPOILERS: the entire thing is a movie (or in this case a short film). none of the characters are real and right from the start everyone is acting. this explanation kind of makes sense(?) because the "gimmick" of the story is that the movies yuta makes are inside movies themselves. this would also "solve" the vampire plot point because the end of the story is still inside the overall movie which explains how we (the readers) are still able to see what is going on despite yuta stopping the recording. my guess is that it's supposed to be a comedy wrapped in a tragedy rather than the usual tragedy wrapped in a comedy. so yeah. tldr: the entire one-shot is a short film made to mix comedy and tragedy in a weird mind twisting way. great lost kitten edit btw cheers.
Maybe this whole thing was a movie, but the characters were real people. Yuta's wife is actually Eri, and when Eri, their child, and Yuta's dad dies in an accident, he loses the will to live and tries to commit suicide. The place he chooses to commit-die in somehow reignites the light inside of him to recut the "Goodbye, Eri" movie - which is the metaphor that the "He saw Eri again, alive and young, because she's a vampire," part of the story is trying to tell. So, at the Ending, Eri really is dead.
I think story is real like how yuta met with eri after his movie sucked ass and how they worked together to make a movie that made the entire school to cry but I think alot of it is reenacted to fit what they wanted the movie and eri to look like. I dont think she had a dissease and I dont think she is a vampire. I think what happens after eri ""dies"" is yutas father acting as yuta and eri coming back is to add a sprinkle of fantasy into the story.
The great thing about the ending is that you can interpret it however you want But to me, Yuta was in love with Eri when she died (she actually was kind of a jerk to other people but with Yuta and her friend she was different) so in the last part he made a film about her life where she was someone who couldn't die and would live on in his memories forever (a vampire). I believe this because in the beginning of the story the father and the rest of the class were mad at Yuta for adding the explosion in the movie but his mother, but Eri never cared about fantastical elements like that being out in her story. So he knew that making her a vampire and having the building she was in explode wouldn't make her upset or make her feel like he was disrespecting her memory, she would just be happy that he remembered her as larger than life.
Gorgeous. This made my day. i don't usually comment much, but I need the song completed and that would be perfection. Maybe use the scenes with the mother and father along with the end?

Try a phenomenal manga one shot and even when it isn’t supernatural and a different use of the manga use like a film!!! Just hit deep to the bittersweet beauty with the song
