Actually with at least one other example of the "advertising before its exists" route known to me, I suspect it's actually a more common practice than you'd think. Kickstarter is effectively that, and I don't see why that tactic wouldn't be used before the days of crowdfunding.
I can only imagine how many Five Nights mysteries were totally fabricated in the fans' heads as a result of the confusing and conflicting lore and twisting ARGs that were a part of the series. The fact that someone accidentally started a rumor based on misremembered information before the game had even become successful is very funny.
Yeah, it's kind of the first ever "brainrot clickbait" of the internet, FNAF started it. Albeit it was interesting rather than plain stupid. I actually remember thinking that JJ was a hoax easter egg, but JJ is a real fnaf 2 easter egg animatronic. And Sparky being actually recognized by Scott and actually placed as an easter egg in the FNAF movie was dope as hell.
I love how you go pretty in depth about the backstories leading up to the main point. It feels like it gives it more impact, especially if you don't know about the topic.
Thank you, I like to think all of the entries have character that should be explained to get more of a full picture. Keep in mind I do leave out quite a bit of detail sometimes. :)
I still don't know if it fits in this category but I'd like to spotlight the Invader Zim 3D pilot since it was debunked. Like, the origins of the 3D renders aren't known, but it was confirmed that it was not an official pilot and that no official 3D test pilot for Invader Zim actually exists
this "five nights" video is probably the most intriguing mystery in this video for me. Hopefully if we can spread some awareness it can be figured out soon, Scott seems like he is pretty active online (or at least he used to be) and perhaps a youtuber like Matpat or Dawko can get into contact with him about it.
"unless scott cawthon is asked about this FiveNights video, we will never know" Scott cawthon is getting a Q&A with youtuber Dawko soon. I hope he can ask...
@@PrestonsPlace FNaF's 10th anniversary is coming soon and there are gonna be loads of reveals in a "FNaF Week", including an interview between youtuber Dawko and Scott himself, so if Dawko asks him about that deleted video then....👀
Actually older trailer of fnaf existed, it wasn't much different from what we see. Just the eyes of Bonnie weren't red but "normal". Just like on the other pictures of endoskeletons. The guy was wrong, but not in the sense that the trailer never existed, but what he described as the "missing trailer" was what is actually in the real trailer we have. The previous one simply looked different, but as I said, the eyes were only difference.
@@XnatorLive Oh yeah i remember that now! Thanks, so the gameplay showcase i'm talking about is the one that Scott actually released because that one was also weird and unfinished (cameras placed in the wrong place, cameras having wrong names ecc....) and not the deleted trailer, right?
I remember this one “lost SpongeBob media” where fans claimed there was a scene in the original airing of the episode “I Was a Teenage Gary” where Squidward transformed into a snail like how SpongeBob did earlier in the episode. They stated it was cut from reruns due to it frightening children (like how SpongeBob snail transformation did). This rumor was then debunked when someone actually uploaded the original airing of “I Was a Teenage Gary” from Halloween 1999 where the scene was no where to be found.
Wait, do you mean like, it was shown HOW Squidward was transformed or do you mean like, Squidward transformed period? Cause I vaguely remember that he did turn into a snail BUT the thing where he horrifically transformed into a snail similar to Snailbob wasn't shown. After the scene where Squidward was stabbed by the coral syringe, the bubbles transition happened then the last scene was all three of them (Gary, Snailward and Snailbob) were on the fence meowing.
i think it was just theorized that at one point the scene existed but never made the final cut before airing because there is evidence towards a scene being cut
@@ambannedfrombeinghuman2263 He did turn into a snail, but people claimed that a scene of him becoming a snail like how SB did earlier existed when the episode initially aired, and after which was cut from all later airings due to it traumatizing kids. The only reason why this rumor existed aside from no bubble transition (tho this could be Nickelodeon being cheap) was likely the case of the Mandela effect since SB’s transformation into a snail in the episode reportedly creeped out younger viewers. Ngl I always felt like this rumor was sorta stupid as if the scene actually did exist, then it would of been featured in the bonus features in the DVDs similarly to how Just One Bite and Procrastinate had their deleted scenes in the DVDs. Not only that, but it would be annoying of them to just make another drawn out transformation scene (I think even one of the guys that worked on the episode stated that a scene of Squidward’s transformation wasn’t on any of the story boards for the episode).
The Bonnie staring up-close at the Backstage camera one on the thumbnail isn’t exactly “lost media that never existed”, because there’s a chance that Bonnie will get up-close and stare at the camera in the Backstage room, with the black eyes and white pupils.
Did you know that there are multiple unrealeased Hello Neighbor builds, including one, where on Xbox (physical edition only), you uninstall the game and turn your wifi and put the disk in you get an unfinished build of the game that's very, very, buggy?
@@PrestonsPlace also, I wonder what would happen if you dumped the game with that version onto a ROM and play it on an emulator, but before, you get the abilities inside beta 3 like he did with the pc release allowing him to get the abilities. Would it give you the powers? 🤔 But hey that's just a theory
One of the first "lost media" that may have never even existed that comes to mind, was a supposed late 80's EXTREMELY vile gore anime titled "Go for a punch" (or translating roughly to that). It supposedly involved a bunch of people waking up in a bathroom with no exit, and desperation and hunger turned to extreme violence. However, after years of searching, it's generally agreed that it never existed, especially seeing as the original post regarding it was from 4chan, and a person claiming to be the original poster (though that cannot be verified, since 4chan is completely anonymous) came forward saying he made it up.
there is a manga similar to that, it's called dokumushi, but instead of them waking up in a bathroom, they just wake up in a classroom and the exit is just boarded up
omfg i thought this was one of those GIANT channels i just happened to miss, how do you only have 1k subs??? subbed and liked!! hope to see you grow man, keep the content up!
The perceived reliability of human memory in contrast to the genuine unreliability that human memory can exhibit in certain circumstances is the avenue which can lead to prominent instances of lost media. Dreams, fantasies, ideas, an incredibly active imagination, and the mixing of a few just right stimuli can create false memories that feel real such that you could almost touch them. I find that once I try to do just that, the tall tale my mind spun becomes unraveled as the reality of the matter reacquaints itself.
Can you tell me what was found more about it? I didnt really catch onto the drama surrounding the movie. Was there any new things? Or just old things like them finding out the company name and finding out the owner's names and calling them.
@@stewbankerif i remember correctly they found the “office” of the studio but it was a random room in a mall. I think it was completely abandoned so people started realizing that there was never truly a movie studio
@@ewitskt Ohh yeah I remember, some restaurant or something. Either way I think the creators fully denied talking about the film and did a crowdfunding for another fake film with 10k already in it in like just some days. Severe money laundering.
I believe very soon we will hit 10K soon. My goal for the end of this year was to hit 1K subs and we passed that by a lot. At this point the sky truly is the limit.
I’m convinced that the Original image of Jeff the killer is probably in some old camera, flash drive, or an old dusty computer. I wouldn’t be surprised if the original owner uploaded the already edited image as a joke or something
@@PrestonsPlace It was definitely one of mine too, one of my friends was also obsessed with it growing up that he used “Peeps” in his original Xbox username as a reference. However, I’d say my favourite show growing up though was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Also gotta love FNAF, me and my friends used to make up so many stories about that game back in 2014 lol
I hope this doesn't come across as "um, actually"-esque, but I think Wall Meat had a similar situation to The Evil Farming Game OP. I remember being active in the search for this supposed trailer, and my best guess would be that it was a video used as a placeholder until the final trailer was ready to be uploaded. Or it was perhaps used as a private link to send to whomever, and the two following trailers were the official public trailers. It's something that me and my friends would do for projects, upload a private link video, and then upload the same video but for the public. This theory doesn't hold much credence though. On a final note, I loved the video, the editing wasn't exactly snappy, but still kind of fast, which is what I like to watch. Here's to further success on your channel 🥂
@crierofirony4000 Thank you so much for your support. I could believe the theory around the private video being to send to other people. I used to do that for some of my projects, amongst other things.
What in the hell I watched the entire video and didn't realize you only had about 2k subs... you have amazing content in good format, I'm definitely subscribed and you deserve more.
I wanted to say that perhaps people confuse a second Regular Show pilot with one of Mr. Quintel's earlier works "2 in the AM PM", which does feature early versions of Pops and Benson. Just a guess.
I definitely think that's a big contributing factor to some of the confusion. Especially given how seemingly well known, yet obscure 2 in the AM PM is.
8:07 This happened mainly because most documentaries featuring this signal often showed an audio spectogram or waveform which subliminally made people think that it was an actual audible signal. Despite this, I don't remember any documentaries or anyone saying that they could hear the signal. Also, since people usually associate radio with sound, it helped to further establish this belief in the pop culture.
I think it’s just the reaction to the title of the video itself, cause if you’re introduced to something you thought was real, you’d probably question your own memory
Keep this kind of content coming! Absolutely love it! Could you maybe make a video on controversial decisions before, during, or after production of a nickelodeon TV show? For example, before Steven Universe existed as a show Rebecca Sugar created a gem called Concrete, which was eventually criticized by the masses.
Wasn't the Concrete controversy solved quickly and relatively devoid of drama though? Not saying your idea is terrible (it does sound good), it's just that it seems like the chillest example, wait, that could go almost at the top...
you deserve wayy more views for how high quality and intresting this video is! its honestly a crime this only has 300 views as of writing this, the only piece of constructive criticism id give is maybe make the video slightly shorter to make it more engaging? but that's prob just me. the editing is really good and so is your mic quality, keep making videos like this and trust, you'll have 100k subs real soon, ps you just gain 1 sub!
@wooliermars1920 Thank you so much. Im happy to hear about the editing. A lot of my old videos had pretty poor editing. I'm glad that you liked it. Be on the lookout for more videos similar to this very soon.
I was always told & have seen that the Regular Show pilot is about Mordecai & Benson, hallucinating in a QuikStop sort of place. Mordecai eats one of Benson's gumballs & he says something like "Not cool" in response.
What @sebastianuglyrat said. It's a pretty well made little short film that JG Quintel had made. It does use Mordecai and Benson, but outside of those 2 characters, it is it's own thing that stands alone from Regular Show. You can watch the short here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V9lSd0gWJK8.html
The fake spongebob movie had a screenshot, and that one image of all of the Animatronics looking at the camera from the FNAF trailer was another piece of "lost media" that turned out to never be in the game.
on the topic of the “Wow!” signal, i remember hearing that it was simply from hydrogen in the atmosphere creating what they thought was an alien signal.
The lost FNAF 1 trailer is real. For some reason, a lot of people have interpreted what WallMeat said in that second twitter post as him saying the trailer doesn't exist. To be clear, when WallMeat said he misremembered the trailer, he was referring to his first twitter post where he was initially approached about it. In simpler words, when he was first asked about it, he got the lost trailer and the trailer currently up mixed up. He even clarifies in the second tweet that he still remembers seeing it. "What I saw was a regular endoskeleton, such as in the background here." At no point has WallMeat ever said that there was no lost FNAF 1 trailer, but for some reason people have taken his words out of context (unmaliciously mind you) to say that it never existed. He even left a comment on a video about the lost trailer where he clarified that he did remember a lost trailer and that it used the regular endo model instead of the terminator eyed one (which lines up which his original comment that implied that the endo model was changed to the Hal-9000 design at some point). Unfortunately I cannot find the video the comment was posted on or the channel that uploaded the video he commented under. I don't have time, as of writing, to look for the video, but people might know what I'm talking about the channel did semi popular videos on the backrooms image early in its search. The entire search effort for the trailer have been really bad. Anyone who ever looked into or talked about the trailer put in barely any effort into researching any of the possible evidence or leads that the trailer exists. It's not even like there an abundance of dead ends to the search, there is still so much we can look into. There is already proof that the FNAF 1 endo was changed from the normal one to the red eyed one before then back to the normal one. There are those "few gaming youtubers" that WallMeat mentioned, likely before Markipliers video on FNAF 1. We already have proof of Scott talking about FNAF 1's game play before it came out, surely there is some sort of post he made talking about the reaction to the lost trailer? Instead of doing any of that, they seemingly got bored and instead came to a really lazy conclusion by taking what WallMeat said out of context. The trailers page on the lost media wiki is a joke in itself just by the comments alone. Sorry for the rant. EDIT: I found a screenshot of the comment on twitter. Still can't find the original video it was posted on though. Twitter Post: x.com/FNAFL_F/status/1400452218554363904 Image: pbs.twimg.com/media/E27yXQEXMAQteiY?format=png&name=large
You have piqued my interest. I might go take a bit more of a deep dive into it's existence. Getting the info for that entry did have quite a bit of conflicting info so I could honestly believe that there is a lot more to that than I realized. Thank you for the information.
Its pretty much gone, and with the research I've done there weren't any significant changes, just Bonnies eyes at the end being changed like you said (you can find the comment within this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ek-LqRRVvIU.html ) Given that there were no significant changes made to the trailer, I think this is a fruitless endeavor. Our only evidence for this even existing is a comment on the current trailer and a wayback archive of Scotts Google+ page, if the comment were never made we would've never known about it, hell we don't even know if the "Five Nights" post is even the trailer. Your only slim chance at finding anything is asking Scott himself and he probably lost the video long ago.
@@zatelisnate yeah, I agree. The chances of actually “finding” it are slim to the point of it being impossible. It’s also kinda pointless cause it’s probably not much different from the current trailer. It might literally be a re render of the Bonnie scene that Scott did in a day. Finding it would literally be finding the animation file, seeing if Bonnie’s eye model had a hidden regular eye texture, and either turning it back on or adding it in before rerendering the scene. I was more focused on people in the FNAF community and lost media community saying it wasn’t real. Someone really needs to update its lost media wiki page. I still feel like there’s a lot that could be found in relation to the trailer. Some other old comments that reference the old trailer, comments about the trailer on other websites. Those “old gaming RU-vidrs” WallMeat mentioned. Really just more stuff that proves that it existed. Honestly pre-markiplier FNAF is a mystery in its own right.
I have 3 pieces of Fake Media: 1: Black Volga (~1970-73) - This movie is based on a famous Polish urban legend of the same name. It has its own article on IMDB, which contains 2 poster and a trailer (available to watch). However that trailer isn't the original one. There is also a theory, which says that this movie had few showcases, but PRL's government decided to ban it. Other theory is that it was showcased in New York in 1974 in one of the cinemas. Few tickets were sold and after this premiere all traces about it are cut out there. Despite these informations, it is more than likely that...this movie doesn't exist. The posters and trailer are fabricated and there is no real evidence of it's existence in the first place. I recommend to watch Kacpir's Polish Lost Media Iceberg (it has English subtitles FYI), he knows better about this than me. 2: Pirate Arr / Goodbye Lucien and Wayne (~2003) is one of the longest lasting CN-related fake news. It originated from Wikipedia vandalism made by a Pole (years later he revealed himself stating that this episode never existed. Keep in mind that he was a kid when he created it). It's an "unaired" The Cramp Twins finale. 3: The Butcher (2001). Seriously even by Nickelodeon standards this is too disturbing.
You should do a video about Mysterious media! There are some stuff like the most mysterious song on the internet but also video games like "A" and "Funny pizza land"
@@RDCK471 I actually have an idea for a video I'm slowly working on that's very similar to that. That's a really good idea. Thank you for the suggestion.
Craziest thing about the Five Nights At Freddy's trailers is that I vividly remember seeing commercials for the first, second and third games on TV. Yet when i look it up, no one seems to have had the same experience. But I don't think i could just be misremembering the first one since i didn't have any Internet at all. The commerical i saw was what introduced me to fnaf. Which i would play within the next year after recognizing Bonnie and the first trailer. To this day I'm still so confused if this is even possible because I highly doubt it as it was around the time before the first game had even come out.
great video! i’m pretty surprised @ your sub count, thought i was watching a big timer. your content is great, i’m sure your channel will blow up soon! subbed!!
I don't think the Regal Films logo you showed in 6:29 was the actual Regal Films, that Regal Films (the one you showed) is a Filipino film and television production company based in the Philippines. I was actually shocked that why would that company would fund that because they only make Filipino movies.
The only explanation for the FiveNights video I can think of is that its the name of the video file for the trailer we know now and it was a failed upload because of corruption or incompatible codec, I had that happen a lot around that time before youtube finally started fixing it around 2015 I believe
I think I was one of the earliest guys to find the Regular Show flash test animation. I uploaded a brief clip of it on my channel and someone even linked it on the LMW. Although I’m still trying to look for the 2nd clip because I literally can’t find it anywhere
“Every show needs a pilot” not technically true, and I have an obscure example tied to another piece of lost media that never existed. Theodore Tugboat was a Canadian kids series made with model boats in the 90s. In the first season, the faces of the boats were a little more crude, and they finalized them in the second season. What’s strange is the opening titles use footage from the second season, but every single episode that was available anywhere (including episodes from season one) used that same intro. For a long time, it was passively assumed that season one originally had a different intro that was just replaced in reruns, and never surfaced again. But the thing is not only did Theodore tugboat not have a pilot, the first season did not even air before they started producing the second. The creator Andrew Cochran was able to convince the CBC that it would cost only a tiny fraction more to produce the entire first season than it would to just produce a single pilot. So they let him go ahead with it, and they were so impressed when they started seeing the early episode edits that they just ordered a second season on the spot. The show was broadcast with seasons one and two intertwined, and the very first episode ever shown on TV was from season two. Never a solid theory, never had a lost media page or anything, but a fun caveat to your fair generalization lol.
This is a good video, but there's perhaps a little too much context being given for everything and unnecessary details and statements that end up making this video a lot longer than it should be, especially when considering how well-known everything here already is
One of my personal favorite cases of nonexistent lost media is the creepy farming simulator game, where you would supposedly kill your wife and try to hide her body while going about your duties around the farm. Turns out it was just a joke from a Vinesauce stream the original poster was falling asleep to.
