While railfanning in Alliance Ohio, I spotted this open UPS trailer spilling out its contents, so I gave chase, I just wonder how much was lost on the tracks be for I seen it, and how much was lost after..

I highly doubt that trailer door lifted on its own. There was also an open 53' container. The package thieves are at it again! - Jason

Yea that train stopped somewhere and they got to it, we get it all the time down here. They put tires on the tracks so the train blows an air hose has to stop and they raid it.

I saw a video a while ago where train tracks were littered with parcels after containers were raided, looks like someone got in this trailer somewhere. When you gave chase I wondered if you were going to get to a grade crossing and see if you could get the train stopped. I think like here you have emergency phones on crossings

I too have seen those videos, it's a shame.. we have numbers to call at crossings but it's to report if the crossing gates or signals are messed up.. or vehicle on tracks.. don't know if that number would stop a train for something like this.. I'll have to look into that.. glad you enjoyed the video, always appreciate you watching

@@TriGogglin If like here the phone calls the dispatcher (Signaller) who can see just where the train is from the crossing phone that is calling in and the track diagramme, so they would know which signal to set to danger to stop it, also send a radio message to he driver. I think it will be a similar set up there cos if your vehicle was stuck on a crossing and you called in they would have control of a signal to stop a train hitting it.

this brings up a question? is there a 1-800- phone number one can call if they see something like this, or another big problem on a train? as transmitting on there co freq is not allowed.

That is a good question. There is a number for problems at the Crossings, but I'm not sure if you can use that for something like this. Now I'm gonna do some looking into that. Appreciate you watching

Probably someones $2,500.00 overpriced Lionel Engine in one of those boxes. It never ceases to amaze me on how derelict the UPS and USPS employees are now days. People have no Pride in their Work anymore.

That may be true Matt, you know the uses better than anyone, but I would think it didn't leave the facility unlocked.. my guess is someone broke in. You know the economy is rough people get stupid. @TriGogglin Our Mail used to come from Pittsburgh on Trucks and they've forgot to secure the Doors and have dumped Packages onto the Interstate. But yeah could have been a Crook. This is why they still need Cabooses to look out for this kind of accident.
