This video is absolutely amazing! The discoveries of Rome's lost treasures are incredibly exciting and open up new perspectives on ancient history. Thank you National Geographic for such a dramatic and insightful first season!
Simply marvelous - and a wonderful addition to the already highly regarded ' Digging for Britain ' series. A wonderful production by NG - top shelf in every way :)
I am so happy that Dr. Monika got to have her dream job of excavating Pompeii! That must be so fulfilling and satisfying for her - wanting to do it since she was a teenager. I love when I hear how people achieve their dreams!
Ive seen some VERY good and well made shows on Pompeii but this one isnon a whole other level. They never show this much in depth. Im in complete awe. LOVE IT!!
55:22 I love the pottery being Pre Roman because it’s hand made I now picture the Roman’s invading then setting up their automatic pottery machines. I hope she was either miss translated or by hand made she meant pre wheel made pottery.
Fun fact during Alexanders conquest he almost turned his gaze to destroy rome but didn't see them as a threat imagine what it would've been like if he destroyed rome before they even started
Are we using electric generators for air conditioning or refrigeration on solar wind energy? Also, vertical farming at schools with electric buses on renewable energy can farm to table using less water and no pesticides since its indoors. Schools should do that with livestock fish farming classes. Maybe a crop livestock feed seed research class?
That is the worst corking job I have ever seen done. Academics make me laugh, there are people who still cork boats today. Instead of asking a master to show them how it would have been done, they fumble their way into disaster. It is ok to admit you do not know everything, it does not make you less of a person.
@@cassieoz1702 Caulking and corking are interchangeable. They just exist on separate sides of the Atlantic. Since they are on the east side it is corking.
they cast some bust out of concrete and stick it in the water and film it and oh, isn't it amazing. Ancient historic ruins made five years ago out of concrete.
I get these guys have a rock for the Romans, but it's a bit unpleasant to hear the announcer constantly referring to the land and native people of Scotland in such derogatory terms. Also recommend not playing a drinking game for every time he says the word "frontier". You'll go down so fast 😂
Augustus reigned in peace? LOL. If we discount the dozen or more wars or major battles that happened during his reign. This and taking many of the more spurious and clearly exaggerated claims about Nero's decadence really highlights how this is a very entertainment focused show, history is second.
This sounds like a great episode but I’m less than 9 minutes in and I’ve had FOUR sets of commercials come up already. No offense but no. I’ll find another history channel
1:05:40 mmmmmm. date someone based on hair style? what about fashions that come back into style years and years later? maybe that's just a modern thing..?
Good news, I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word (Jesus) and believes Him who sent Me (God) has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24 Jesus died for you, all you have to do is believe & repent.
If someone wants to read why romans were doomed even they were the strongest at their time you could read "The Holy Qur'an" chapter called "Surah Ar-Ruum".
