For many years, Don Knotts was a spokes person for Dodge. This film is for Dodge Truck Sales folks for 1965. This seems to have been a lost film, I've never seen or heard of this work. It clearly filmed in Califonia, the opening scene looks like the Pacific Coast Highway. Much wrote most of his work, I imagine that he would have been involved in it's creation, and not simply a script he read by someone else. Don Knotts as a A List Performer at this point in his career. It's filmed in either late 1964 or early 1965. The film speaks about "running changes" and the 1965 Dodge did have a lot of them and these appear to be later into the 1965 Model year. Special thanks to Karen Knotts.

Knotts was gone from Andy Griffith in the 1965 season. He regretted leaving the show. These industrial films payed the bills.

*boy o boy... this film in particular reminds me how much I think that Don Knotts would have made a great Joker in a Batman project... he has that perfect combination of command and quirkiness... love him... you did a great job of restoration my friend... and don't let anyone else tell you that you were wrong for posting it.... I say bravo bro... God Bless*

Thanks for this Osborn. I really enjoyed it. It's totally a period piece, and as such we'll never see his style and all those innuendos again. Bottom line..It looks like they actually had fun making it.

Interesting to note that Dodge division in this era didn't take themselves seriously with their advertising. Even their print and TV car ads injected humor . Remember the southern Sheriff ads? (So popular for that actor he kept doing the character well into the 70s for the national safety council and he pitched the 55 mph limit for the US government) (Jackie Gleason admitted that character was the partial inspiration for his Bufort T Justice charracter.) Please forgive me as I've forgotten the man's name who did the Dodge Sheriff role (and later ads as the "Safety Sheriff" for the national safety council. ) Knotts continued up to the early 70s even introducing the new B series van. I was NEVER a Knotts fan but Dodge got good use out of him.

Thomas Phetteplace Even modern day Dodge advertisements still have that self satirical feel to them. Like yeah we’re Dodge, you can buy one or not. If you don’t someone else will.

Don’s the man. Love how lecherous he was in stuff like this. Barney was too, but they toned it down quite a bit for TAGS.

I think people forget he did a lot of other work besides TAGS. He was on the Steve Allen Late Night Show for 5 or 6 years, playing many different types of rolls.

An Even better longer new Lost Don Knotts Dodge film to be uploaded later to day April 1st, vivid color and sound......but oh yeah, I forgot, my Broadcast channel's trademark offends you, sorry, I guess you won't be seeing that new film either, and as a matter of fact, even though this is public domain material, Don Knott's daughter has seen this film in advance, she helped me on this project. That film will be posted on her facebook page as well as Don Knott's fan site web page. but please don't watch it there either, cause it brings you back here to see my offensive Channel trademark

Kind of ugly compared to the Ford and Chevy but I'd say they're good trucks. I don't see very many 1960's Dodge trucks though compared to Fords and Chevys from the same time period.
@OsbornTramain
@OsbornTramain 5 лет назад
I'd make an argument that the Chevy was kind of ugly too. The Ford and the International Harvester were the best looking in 1966 IMHO
