Ian reviews the Lost x MR Cali Twin Pin
Available Here: www.boardshop....
A twin pin built by Lost and Mark Richards, this Lost Surfboards California Pin is the latest version of the California Twin range.
Continuing from the amazing Cali Twin model, Matt Biolos and Mark Richards have tweaked the Cali Twin from a swallow tail model to a twin pin to offer a new range of possibilities. This board really delivers, it perfectly fills the gap between your groveler and performance shortboard.
The Cali Pin has been created by a pair of legends, Mark Richards and Matt Biolos, that combined level of genius simply can't make a bad surfboard. Beginning with the Cali Twin swallow shape the boys lengthened the tail by an inch, subtly increased the nose rocker and pulled in the nose outline a bit. A bit of thickness was added through the centre line of the board to maximise paddle power while maintaining a performance minded rail. They pulled in the outline between the feet and changed the tail to its name defining, forgiving, versatile round pin. These changes make for a fast, forgiving but precise board, the continuous curve outline makes the board wider on the range of functionality over the original swallow version. Fortunately, what they did not change was the iconic MR Twin + trailer fin set up nor the single to double concave bottom curves that made the original so good.
The Cali Pin is an everyday board that will work in 90% of what we all surf on a regular basis. It paddles really well and goes from rail to rail smoothly, what you really notice straight away is the hold it has which in turn generates drive and speed, we really like this board! We'll sit it in the hybrid; category for now, its a great allrounder but it has genuine better wave performance when needed, would be great to travel with.

Sweet. How does this compare to the Rad Ripper? And wave sizes for both, please. Thanks

Hi Ian , in which aspects or how it differs from the Retro Tripper model? At first glance, the general outline looks similar.

Both are similar. More pulled in tail on the Cali Twin Pin with a touch more rocker, so we feel this has more range. the Retro Tripper had a fuller rail feel and less rocker, so more for smaller waves or waves that are fatter was an open face.

How does it compare to the Retro Tripper? Adding the Rad Ripper to the mixture, what would be the better two board quiver between this 4 🤔? Waist to slightly overhead in portugal beachbreaks..

Lost x MR Cali Twin Pin or Lane Splitter? Which one is better for a beginner/intermediate? Could you comment the differences?

Has to be the Lost x MR Twin Pin , a great versatile board which can be ridden in day to day conditions as well as those larger, punchier waves. Forgiving shape but great performance!
