Lostock Hall Engine Shed 1968.  

As a youngster (b. 1959) I always took the steam trains for granted and never for a moment thought these incredible beasts would one day be fazed out. To see what we have now lost is very depressing. Travelling by Fishwicks bus from Leyland to Preston used to take us over the bridges at Lostock Hall and you could see the scale of this marshalling yard and all the engines parked up there. I witnessed all the vandalism as the yard became obsolete and now nothing is left of this place. Thanks for uploading a piece of our history from the great age of steam.

We were losing our old friends. It was a sad time to be a steam enthusiast.

As a kid ,where i lived on Croston rd, I could see the coal hopper at lostock hall depot from my bedroom window. I remember climbing into the cabs of the steam engines at the side of the shed .

Nothing left of the shed now and you would never think there had been a shed at Lostock Hall either now.
