I never understood why they didn't do dvd's in the quality of this clip for every Broadway show they produce. They could make so much money that way. Don't they realize, not everyone can see the real thing? And for those who can, they'll still see it, but also purchase something like this to remember it. There are so many shows i'd love to see, but can't see them cause i live on the other side of the United States. :(
what i love about galadriel in this song is that unlike in the movies, because of time, you really get to see how much she loves lothlorien. it is her creation and those that live there are her beloved ones.

Honestly thought this would be around for years to come. GUTTED that I missed it!! It looks and sounds simply gorgeous and should definitely return to the West End!!
Oh my god, this is so breathtaking beautiful, Laura Michelle Kelly has such a powerful and soothing voice... Still have shivers all over... Can't stop listening to it!

When I first heard that LOTR I was a little iffy thinking we hardcore fans have gone a little to far but after much research and many hours in google I think entirely different now. I like how they used the ribbon dancing to represent the lightness in elves movements and idk something about Legolas singing seems so right. I PSSH im speechless!
So glad they released an offical video of this song, it's my all time favourite from the soundtrack, and was blown away by it the first time I heard it. Micheal Rouse's voice and portrayal of Legolas is simply wonderful
Laura Michelle Kelly looks and sounds like a goddess. This is absolutely beautiful. I play this song so much and I can't get over how amazing her voice is. Great melody and lyrics too. So ethereal. SO AMAZING.
@bwyfan19 Due to tickets, it simply wasnt covering the large amount paid out. Which I hated, I'm a young Drama student and I will tell you that this was for me, the MOST magical and fantastic show I will EVER see... I came out in love and I hope and pray, that this will grace our stages once more... It deserves it! Maybe on a certain aniversary of the Lord of the Rings!
this guy is incredible - he sings like an angel - this is exactley how an elv would sound !! galadriel of course is fantastique as well! great voices & an astounding show...
@aviva0017 No self-respecting Dramaturg would allow gibberish to be used in place of Elvish. It's definitely Tolkien's own Elvish. It's been a LOOONG time since I've translated any Elvish, but here's my translation: "Golden land! Oh, green radiance! With the grace of spring, Nimrodel (a river in Lorien) and grief passes. Oh, Golden land! Oh, Golden land! Golden land, oh green radiance! Dawn rises. Lothlorien!"
I feel like this was amazing to see live. I always seem to find out about the best things after they end. Beautiful singing, amazing stage presence. All of it just looks so wonderfully amazing.
Trust me, it was. My wife and I went to London just after Christmas 2007 and saw the matinee performance on Saturday, December 29th. We pretty much went just to see LOTR. It was magnificent.
@misskellyjoyce Oh, Tolkien never described Legolas (or any other character) properly. I think the quotes that gives hints about his looks is that he is "fair of face" like all elves and that he's "a strange elf clad in brown and green". There's also a passage when he shoots the fell beast when Frodo looks up at him and it says something like "the elf's head was dark, crowned with the night sky's silver stars". This is the line that most likely gave rise to the discussion about his hair colour.
This is such an amazing song!!! I always think i wont get chills and then BOOM she hits that high note and i get chills! It is so amazing its my ring tone too!!!!! HAHA i sing it so much i think i anoy everyone
Okay, I haven't read the books. But I have seen the movies and I respect them very highly. But this....this is incredible. This song is so beautiful and I think it shows the spirit of Middle Earth. As for people saying that this isn't a 'Tolkien vision', I respectfully say that this is how someone interpreted it, and that we all should respect this version. :)
Isn't it time someone put together all this footage and turned it into a DVD of the film. There is a soundtrack and I wil never understand why the final performance wasn't filmed and marketed. A gross oversight on someone's part and a real loss to all us lovers of LOTR.
best london show i ever saw - the sets were fantastic and the audience participation magical. wish we could have seen it again - it closed far too quickly. Good musical memories on the CD and here on youtube, thanks.
How have I not come across this?! Wow. I have been remiss. This was absolutely wonderful to watch, and a real memory jerker. Having seen LOTR about 5 times now in London, Lothlorien is one of my favourite numbers, and it's GREAT to see footage online. Official footage too....which makes me wonder....DVD release....hmmm... Hope so!
the most beautiful musical i have ever seen, and I've seen a lot! I saw it twice and would love to see it again. Apparently there isn't a dvd available? if anyone knows differently Id love to find out!
i saw this at the drury lane theatre in the west end it was the coolest musical i have ever seen. in the intermission orcs were going through the isles it was awesome.
:) saw this live about 3 years ago. atmosphere was incredible, the perfomance, stage. costumes, musical. wish I could go back to london nd watch some others, or even this if its still showing.
Lord of the Rings was a great show, i was very sceptical before going to the show, but it did win me over. The problem really is, alot of people were put off if they have never read the books or seen the films so may find the show confusing. The fact that it was Lord of the Rings and people thought it may not be suitable for families. And the fact that it is such a technical production it needs a very large theatre, which means that there is always more seats which need to be filled
@Amocktus I'm not so sure. There is a huge demand for it amoung those of us who know of the show. I think that if enough LOTR groupies got togather it could work. This show is supposed to be the most amazing theater experince on earth.. it would be well worth the cost.
@Amocktus @Amocktus True, I'm quite sure neither Wicked, Mary Poppins, nor the Lion King would be bumped in order to make room for LOTR. I was just noting that technical limitations wouldn't be a significant barrier if someone was theoretically trying to mount the show at the New Amsterdam.
Omg I love this musical so much. I've seen it in London twice and would have gladly gone again if I could. I still listen to the cd a lot. There isn't a single song I don't like.
This show actually ran for something over 300 performances. Had to to make up that 25 mil it cost. As an avid LOTR fan(movies, books, games) I wish that I was British and could have gone and seen this.
Wonderful! Everytime I watch the "old" Video from the webside I wished to see Michael´s performance. Absolutly wonderful! Hope to see the Musical this year ...
@TheMickiRae Its not actually stated whether Legolas has blonde hair (Although I like him better with blonde hair :P) , but they just decided to make him dark for this adaptation.
@RybakAndEdenLover You SHOULD meet her. Come to NYC and see her in Mary Poppins. She's returning July 19. She is wonderful in the role and she's a sweetheart! I've met her a few times. :D

i went to see this in april with my drama college, i had heard it was going to e good but i had no idea it would be quiet as good as it turned out to be!! if u havent seen it then u must! it ends at the end of july!
@Amocktus Obviously none of the big earners are going to bumped for LOTR. Just speaking from a technical standpoint, the theatre would be able to handle the show.
@tongeli It was VERY expensive. The production cost $25 million to put on. I don't know the full extent of why they decided to discontinue the show, but I do know that the cost of it had something to do with it.
Hey hey! :) Me too! I hope it's coming to Singapore too! :P There's hope I think... They're embarking on an Australia and Far East Tour. The last time I heard something like that was with Phantom back in 1995 which also did a Far East Tour and that included Singapore! Fingers crossed that this superb production comes to Singapore! :)
@Amocktus I was lucky enough to see this show in London a few days before the show closed while I was on a school trip from Seattle. Amazing and I hate musicals!
You know, if someone could find a way to downsize this show, even by just a little, it could probably be done in america. And please, no one else but Laura Michelle Kelly for Galadriel, she completely understands the character, and the effect is astounding.

@Serena2009ification I know, I just meant the ending of the song, there are like three different recordings with three different musical endings to the end, and this is my favorite
