LOTR: Director Peter Jackson CRIED when filming this iconic scene!

During the filming the scene where Frodo and Sam climb Mount Doom, Peter Jackson became emotional, his glasses fogged up and tears streaming down his cheeks. The line "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you" marked the perfect take, and Jackson's reaction showed they had captured something truly special.

Never thought about it before...but yeah. Peter had multiple huge reasons to be thrilled like that - "YES!!! We did it!!!"... "YES!!! BRILLIANT, SEAN!!!"... "YES!!! We have a great, great movie here, and our audience will absolutely be stunned by this great, climactic scene"!!!!... and "This beyond-wonderful story...Professor Tolkien's dramatic, so-powerful conclusion...the huge drama of the plot, and the huge personal drama of Frodo and Sam...we've captured it beautifully!!!"

I remember the first time I saw RotK. I remember my dad leaning over during this scene and saying, "Sam's the REAL hero of this story." And I agree with him to this day. Frodo went to Mordor because someone had to destroy the ring and no one else could do it. Sam went to Mordor because Frodo was his friend.
@gohawks3571

He is the hero! Frodo wouldn't have made it without Sam😭 Of course, so many other factors come in. He had so much invisible support. But I don't think he would have made it half as far. Not only was he physically helping, but he carried him emotionally too😊 He deserved Rosie!
@nicosmind3
@nicosmind3 2 месяца назад
And to think, Frodo tried to abandon Sam and everyone cause he didn't want harm to come to anyone, and he could see how the ring was hurting/twisting people. So he thought he'd better go by himself. But Sam being a good friend had already suspected Frodo might try and go off on his own and followed him. But as soon as Frodo realise that Sam caught him he was glad he was there and happy Sam wouldn't let Frodo abandon him. Even if Sam knew it was from Frodo's concern, Sam didn't want Frodo to go alone

Same with my Mom, she's not into fantasy movies at all and is not very enthusiastic in general, she was watching Rotk sort of bored only because me and my sister wanted to watch it but at that scene when Sam said that she said out loud and excited 'wow that is a real friend' and always stuck to me how that's the only part of the movie that got a reaction from her.

What? You'd wish to be like Frodo! Seriously, Sam is a great friend and hero, but Frodo sacrificed his physical and mental health, he agreed to take upon this burden when noone else would, and he resisted the temptation the longest of them all. I don't think most people would be capable of that, so lets not diminish Frodo.

The real problem with LOTR is every scene is "one of the most important/iconic scene". Ever. single. One. Of. them. Mushroom scene? Iconic. Tomato scene? Legendary. Fish scene ? Essential. Toes, beard, feet, nose, hand ? All of them! With just one word each time, I know you know.
@matthewmitchell3457
@matthewmitchell3457 2 месяца назад
Hmm, some of those took me a minute to figure out though, and I'm still not sure about all of them. 1. Aragorn breaking his toes 2. Either "It's the beards" or "Not the beard!" 3. Proudfeet 4. Always follow your nose? 5. "Don't you dare let go!"?
