At work we’ve thrown away perfectly good beer, all because the packaging was damaged. Not leaking or cracked. We’ve also thrown away medical supplies, in perfectly good shape. Latex gloves, little plastic jars, face masks. If the customer rejects the shipment/pallet, it goes to the trash sadly. We can’t dumpster dive, we’ll get fired for it. Can’t resell products either, since it wasn’t purchased by my employer. But we thrown away thousands of dollars of perfect product.
People would buy them if the store was discounting them. The government enables business is to be corrupt. Since they can get a full ride off, if they say the product is damaged. The government should change those rules, so they get a tax break if they're donated or discounted
The government is at fault for this. Because they will give you a 100%. Write off as a loss, throwing it out. The store won't get to keep as much money if they discount it
probably just a new range / remerch. Walgreens won't be paying for the cards until sold , the card company won't want them back (literally a few cents worth). often the same with cheap paperback books , it's just not worth the time labour and transport to do anything with them. They wont give them away as that'd eat in to potential sales.
It's the government's fault. The store can discount it, so people will buy it. But the government lets them write it off as a loss if they throw it out. And that's better for the store. There should be tax breaks for donating, not throwing it out
