Sometimes people find August a difficult month to have lots of flowers for cutting in the garden. Not so Flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery of Common Farm Flowers in Somerset South West England.
In this clip Georgie takes you through a huge selection of cut flowers and foliage she has growing in her gardens for cutting in August. With lots of sowing, planting and harvesting tips, flower farmer chic comments, a quick trip to the seaside, and finishing up with the stunning hand tie she makes with 100 stems of her own garden, this is a clip to relax into and enjoy. Enjoy! X
If you enjoy the tips and tricks Georgie gives you here, the link to her Buy Me a Coffee page is Here: You can buy me a coffee here www.buymeacoffee.com/COMMONFARM
If you'd like to join Georgie on any of her other flower farming, floristry or small business workshops do have a look at the calendar here and book your place: www.commonfarmflowers.com/pag...

Lovely to have South Africa mentioned. We love our gardens and can successfully grow so much that you use in your floristry business..... and plenty you can't. 😊 A hugely diverse climate but we spend our lives outdoors as the weather is mostly temperate....so gardeners in every guise are in abundance .Thank you for a fabulous site.

Hmmm... I do love the Amaranthus foliage, but usually end up stripping most of the leaves because they get so damaged... I might have to find a way to rectify that!! Lovely array of varieties. It took me three years to find chocolate and apple mint (and mint basil, which I'd never heard of), but I finally managed it this year!!! Beyond thrilled to watch it grow. By the way, global warming notwithstanding, we may be heading into an extended solar minimum (mini ace age, like the one that froze the River Thames), predicted to run from 2020 to 2053.

Ooh, this has given me ideas for next year. I'm just realising how much I've already got in my garden that I've never thought to put in a vase before. 😊 My Caledula have turned into absolute thugs and slap me in the face when I do the watering - I made sure I planted them with enough space to stay small too! 😜 My neighbour grows Dahlias and she brought a lovely bouquet round for us - the blooms were the size of my head! 🤣 My sweet peas have gone bonkers too! I'll be cutting them like this from now on. Thanks for the seaweed feed tip too! 👍 Would a tomato feed be a suitable substitue and how often should I feed? I have red and pink penstemons, but now I think about it, only the pink came up this year. 🤔 The bridal flowers and the 'August Bouquet' are gorgeous!
