Bread...heat a cast iron casserole with a lid on the wood stove.til really hot...lower the bread in on a piece of parchment , lid on. Then move to the gas oven. Will cook quickly and use less gas

MANUAL WOOD CHOPPER &TOOLS I would like to make a suggestion for your Amazon list. Your Mom works so hard on the house and she has to chop wood. So how about finding a manual wood chopper for everyone to use? I looked and there are lots for less than $100. It would make the job go so much faster. There is a tool for making kindling too. Then how about getting your Dad some tools that he might like to have. Like a drill that has a light on it so he doesn't need someone holding a flashlight. Love your whole family!!! Do you have a P.O. Box? So we can send you some items?

American here, but a friend of mine did this growing up. When we met in college she had all of us leave our shoes outside our dorms so she could put candy and notes in them for Saint Nicholas. It was a very sweet memory.

Have you though t of adding an electric Wood splitter, firewood splitter, hydraulic splitter to the Wishlist or get a crowdfund started. You guys will be splitting a lot of Wood for a long time and it would save all of you a lot of physical discomfort. :) Also keeping the wood covered from the cold and wet weather will be beneficial to your wood burning stove / chimney. You will not have to sweep it out as often and will not smoke as much :) Much cheer, from Kentucky😉

I’m Mexican, we have a similar tradition called Dia de Los Reyes in English known as Three Kings Day. We celebrate it on January 6. The night before we leave our shoes by the front door and the 3 kings bring you little gifts like money or candy. We also cut a cake with little baby Jesus figurines called a Rosca or Kings cake and if you cut a piece that has the baby it’s considered good luck and you win a prize. So cool to learn about how other cultures have similar traditions. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

Your Mom's sourdough bread looked amazing, and I liked to hear about the job's tears. Ideas for your list: a log splitter(elec) to put in the barn , snow suits for the fam, rubber boots for the fam, Ikea gift cards, an on-demand water heater.

Not one onion for you. You are a delight and joy to watch. Christmas is when saint Nicholas brings toys for children in Canada. Bad kids get a lump of coal (no one ever got that).Hugs and advent blessings.

In Germany we put the shoes outside the door before bed, and we get fruit, nuts and chocolate if we are good and coal and switches if we are bad. In the states we hang a stocking on the mantle for small toys, and candy (maybe not chocolate if the fireplace has a fire) Your videos are so refreshing, its nice to hear you speaking your native tongue, maybe you could give us some beginner lessons.;)

When we made homemade ornaments & baked everyday. I was a tomboy and would have dragged that furniture just like you, lol. Life in America got so accelerated, mechanized, modern & “easy” that we sadly forgot simple pleasures. Your lovely family reminds me, tho, and I for one am so grateful to you all. Love watching the simple pure life you and your family are living. It relaxes me and makes me appreciate my life growing up. Shoes are similar to stockings here in US and western world I think...Blessings to you and your family!

With my brother when we were growing up if we had this tradition the 1st up would definitely put all the treats in one shoe and all the onions and coal in the others.

I live in New Zealand, my husband was born in Germany, when our children were little we celebrate just as you do. St Nicholas and black Peter. This is not something done traditionally in New Zealand but the European people who settled here have brought their traditions with them to celebrate within the family.

Never heard off shoes left out for Santa. Here in USA we use soaks hung on the fire mantels for Santa who comes on the eve of Christmas on Dec. 25 . And yes the bad kids get a lump of coal instead of candies and fruits.

I wonder if you could make a little cookbook? You have all these lovely recipes and make some lovely meals. I am sure if you made it as a pdf download you could sell it on etsy or for less hassle and less profits sell it as a self published book on amazon or similar? We put winter boots out, not shoes. And we put them by the front door. Then it is filled with goodies overnight. (Hungarian born but live in the US now and we are continuing the tradition for our kids)

I grew up celebrating Saint Nicholas Day, as my mother was half Austrian. Also my Dad was mostly Slovak. My sister and I always looked forward to lining our Sunday shoes with foil to get our surprise on December 6th! Happy Holidays to all of you!

Your dad has a Bosch electric saw. Best ever. I bought one in 1986. It's been repaired a couple of times, and I loaned it to my ex-wife just two days ago. She's installing an internet wire. Anyway, I've used that saw for SO many projects. It's just awesome. Highly recommended :)

In the US we hang stockings for Santa to fill. As a child we usually got oranges, walnuts, peppermint sticks and maybe a small toy.

Y’all need to move your fire wood chopping to in the garage/storage building behind the wood pile to get out of the snow and to keep your wood dry
