Hello and welcome to BOAB Models - today we'll be unboxing the Lotus 25 Coventry Climax in 1/20 from Tamiya. This legendary car was used from 1962-65 in the Formula 1 World Championship and was the first car to use the innovative monocoque design from Colin Chapman.

Many of the races in 1962 were actually run without the yellow stripe so leave those decals off if recreating the early version of the car.

I think one of those would be a blast to drive. 🤟🤠👍

I think you're right! Really low to the ground and with the engine right behind you!

This iconic milestone of a F car is a unmatched unit with one man: JIM CLARK - By far the greatest driver ever - no doubt. He is and was "The Best of the Best" (Fangio and Senna about Clark). No other driver in history until today was so superior as Clark - No other driver as so much "Grand Slam" - Pole/Win/Fastest Lap/Leading every lap of the race - like him. And all that from just 72 starts... ! This man is the Olymp of driving - the Michelangelo of racing - a dynamic art at the highest level. So smooth, so precise, so fast....simply out of this world. One, who won in Spa by 5 minutes (!) in monsoon rain with only one hand at the wheel (!) because of gearbox trouble...One, who takes back a complete lap (!) in Monza and back into the lead... One, who took pole on the original 22,8 km Nürburgring track by 9 (!) seconds and more....One who won Indy by 2 whole (!) laps...For eternity and by lightyears unmatched in the sport. That`s just four examples of his mesmeric unique genius...

Jim Clark was an amazing driver taken tragically before his time.

Nice unboxing Thomas, it's molded in British racing Green already.🙂

Many thanks, David. Yeah, you could probably get away with painting it minimally but I prefer how the Tamiya TS-43 looks.

Thomas a really cool video with great info and details just love it when a builder gives some background on the build they are doing. Thanks so much for the video. Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist #6 on the thumbs up count.

These older F1 cars like the Lotus, Brabham etc really would have sorted out the driving skills of the pilots back in the day with manual gear shifts, none of the driver aids that F1 cars have today, and they are generally quite nice to look at. I'm sure you will do it justice Thomas.

Thanks Allan. I really like the look of these '60s cars although they were so dangerous! No seat belts even until late in the decade!

Nice looking kit, at least it wasn't half assembled, only a few bits!

Thanks for watching, mate. I agree - I was actually thinking of doing a video about 'Should you buy started kits?'

@@BOABModels Good idea. Also applies to pre-built models sometimes people sell off their old builds you can repurpose

Yeah, or 'glue bombs' if they were made really badly!
