Lotus Evora S: A Grown Up Lotus? - XCAR 

One of my best mates has an Evora S which I've driven long distance twice. What I really like about it is the size. It's perfect for my 5'11" medium build stature, just big enough but no extra. Feels wonderful.

I bought one a year ago after owning a 911. This has to be the most surprisingly impressive car. Ride and handling is on another league to the Porsche. 350hp might not sound alot in modern terms but I can certainly take on cars with 100hp more. oh, and it's been more reliable than the Porsche too.

Mohamed, I once compared the Elise SC to the Cayman S, and went with the Elise SC. The little Lotus had soul, an intangible way of connecting with you that cannot be described. Pure emotion. When I sold the Elise SC (the roads where I live just cannot support something as raw as the Elise), I looked at Aston Martins, Porsche 911s, and some American performance cars (Vette, Viper). Again, without fail, Lotus delivered another winner. I bought Evora and never looked back. Everyone loves it.

The Cayman is a very handsome car, but you see so many of them you look at one and go "oh yeah nice, like a 911 but cheaper". But every time I see an Evora my head snaps around; the reason being they're so damned rare. Surely that too must be an enticing thing? When I see someone who bought an Evora, I see a brave eccentric. To me, that is a person who could have done the conventional thing and bought a Porsche, but chose to be different. Hats off to that...

i've just bought a Lotus Evora from the Newcastle dealership, and we debated with the porsche 911 and cayman, but as a car the lotus feels quicker, lighter, it with out a doubt has better handling and the one big plus is you are not just a number on a spreadsheet! Your part of the lotus movement, the car is part of a family and yes the quality of the interior isn't as good, but the smile that it puts on your face certainly beats and porsche. If your stuck on this decision the way we looked at it was do we want a "luxury" sports car with all the "high end" items or the proper drivers car, that all that matters is you? To us the choice was quite simple we are buying a sports car for the thrills and thats it.

I would buy the Evora over a mass produced Porsche any day of the week

Finally put down my down payment on the Evora S. Will be receiving the car in March, and I'm so glad I picked the Lotus over the Cayman S and the 911.

I think between a Lotus Evora & Cayman I'd choose the Evora. It has better curb appeal and looks far more exotic. All though the cayman is a very trick car.

Well I'm no brit I'm more of a yank but as far as for the type of driving I want to do I want a Evora S. Sexy but not a flat piece of jagged paper is just one reason I like this car.

The Evora is head and shoulders above the Porsches in handling, steering, braking feel, efficiency. And it's more distrinctive. Its a car for drivers. If you want to cruise, play with electric seats and dual-zone climate control, and do the occasional fast B-road blast, the Porsches will be more than adequate. But not in the same league as the Evora.

4:01 2012 like scene. You guys should have tried out for the 2012 filming. Just kidding. Lotus has been one of my favorite brands, and sucks that it wasn't in the Shanghai Automotive Show this year. You guys are awesome, and my favorite video has been about the Lotus Exige S, and the Evora S seems pretty cool too, but with less power, but at such high end, it doesn't make a huge difference.

Lotus is stuck in a rather unfortunate paradox they put themselves in. All the people who REALLY want a Lotus, can't really afford them, and those that can afford them look past them. The answer? reduce cost, but how without sacrificing quality?

Put a few options on the Cayman S and it'll happily reach a price of 6 digits.

Ascari isn't british, it was fiunded by a dutchman, and they're being built in spain.

If I had the money to get any kind of expensive car, a Porsche wouldn't even ever be a consideration for me. Completely uninterested in them. If I wanted a small, light, mid-engined sports car Lotus would definitely be one of my top choices easily.

Better. Drove the Cayman S and the Evora (not S). The Evora was both more connected and exciting. To be honest, when I got out of the Cayman, I was a little bored. Picks up speed, but you don't feel it and there is a drumming like a slightly open window at 60 in top. Apparently the all do it but only some folk are sensitive to it. I'm in my 40's now. A Middle aged man in a Lotus looks like an enthusiast, the same guy in a Porsche looks like a crisis! I'd plump for the less obvious choice.

The Italians fixed the 458 problem quickly... The brits became cocky and tried to replace the whole Lotus range, and yet no new models to date...

It's a shame that the Evora is the only Lotus we have in the USA. If they want to be successful, they need to re-tool the Exige and Elise, fix the airbag issue and reintroduce them again. Maybe then people would consider a Lotus over a Porsche.

if i were a brit, i would no doubt buy a lotus. but it would mostly be for nacionalist reasons. since im not, im very sorry lotus either u give us the costumer what we want or u kan as mutch as im concerned trow down the towel and go down. if i have 60k 2 spend on a car what i want is a porshe. now u either do a bbeter looking one (wich shouldnt be that hard) or im sorry and my hard earn mony is going ele were. dont get me wrong what i mean by i wnat a porshe is a well built car, supremely capable confortable enough 2 every day comute and a blast on a weekend out. is it that hard?

I'd buy one because it doesn't look like a Porsche. The 911 shape is so played out, and every middle age dad has one. It's about as unique as a Civic. (Of course, I'm ignoring driving characteristics or anything real.)

Lotus used to be a manufacturer that thrived on innovation and technology. Ever since the car industry went digital, they've been totally floored. The competition is just miles ahead. I still love Lotus, the Elise is a master class, sports car. But I just wish they were taking the fight to Ferrari and Porsche like they used to.

I think you need to keep on learning how to drive fast. It would improve your reviews.
