I feel your pain so immensely. I remember the night before my first car was taken away and luckily it was still drivable, and that last drive was so emotional. I am really thinking of getting one of these cars in the very near future because of that engine, the looks, RWD, and that reliability. I will be over the moon if I can find the wagon however unlikely. I hope you are doing well and that you may have found a good replacement or will find something soon.

Toyota4Life only thing that sucks is fuel economy. I get 16 mpg city...

My is200 gets 18mpg City

My gs430 gets 16 in the hood and 22 frw

Get an is200 its cheap and now that you have secure the car later upgrade the engine to GTE.

I am 16 saved for a very long time and snipes a mind blowing deal on an is300 for my first car and it’s a 5speed!

Swapped out the led yellow for white.

These cars comfortably and commonly go around 300-400k miles. Literally anything under like 160k is low on these cars

When I got my 5 speed is300 it had 80km now has 108km

i drive a lot at night, and those yellow/orange lights are essential imo. drove my cousin's mini a while ago, and the eye fatigue is very noticeable if you have white/blue-ish lights all over the interior, and it messes with your adaptation, whereas the orange is way less of an issue. my is200 is incredibly well suited for night driving. the side mirrors are very yellow tinted, it's got an auto dimming rear view mirror, all the lights are orange, and it's got a factory window tint. you don't really notice until you sit in another car that doesn't have those goodies and get annoyed why there are so many blinding lights everywhere. while i agree it doesn't look very nice, there's a reason for the orange lights. these cars have so many little details that make them more comfortable/useable, it's astonishing. that's the kind of luxury you get in these cars, they thought of almost everything to make your drive more comfortable. less about appearance, all about functionality.

I haven't yet driven the B58...I really need to experience it in the 340i or M240i. I've heard good things

augus li The MK4 supra got both the 2JZGE and the 2JZGTE, some of the major differences is compression ratio which the GTE has a lower compression ratio to accommodate for boost, head design and block design.

the ge also is missing a few oil squirters in the block.

Tony Zhuravlev I'd build a ge block over a gte block all day.

wuiam I would only build a he if I am on a budget otherwise the gte is the superior block.

You’ll get mad hate but I’ve met people who have autos and swear by the transmission being stronger then the stock manual trans, and I’ve seen quite a few autos with turbos etc. .. sure its unconventional but don’t mind the hate. Most probably don’t even own an IS300

Daniel Neumann yea that’s the only issue. I just turned 17 and I’m a boy so insurance will be a ton. That’s why I don’t want a sports car. This car will be less since it’s not a sports car. I’m still saving for this car

It’s not too high for the auto at least

It revs pretty high on the highway... 3200 RPM at 75 mph, so probably around 4000 at 100 mph!

What? I mean a turbo kit for like $1,300 can get you like 320whp soo

Big cams, higher compression, ported heads, lighter valvetrain and some trick intake would get you close

It's like every engine that has a turbo variant. Except the 2j ge is perfectly capable of absurd hp numbers if you want to drop a good tranmission in it.

@@Skrimpish you want to make over 400hp in a stock 2j ge or gte you need to splurge alot of cash. its not a type of engine to ramp boost through it. just because one dude did it and has been running stock doesnt mean its a good idea or reliable. modern engines make more power with less mods than a 2jz. i still say theyre over hyped

@ItTJT head is good for like 5 to 600ish daily driven. W58 is only good for like 300 max and the auto grenades at 400ish iirc. Vvti issues were solved ages ago. You aren't wrong tho, if you are going to put 7k into the ge your better off just getting an jdm aristo send your harness off and pull the ge.
