Great video again Joe fished conn a few times never any luck good to see there are good trout to be got looking forward to the next video tight lines Joe
I really enjoyed this video. Took me back to many holidays in the '90s in May and September. Cloghans, Brackwansha and Castlehill. I can remember many of the reputed hotspots on the to half of the lake. Always setting out from Gortnorabbey or sometimes Kelly's at Cloghans or Bog Bay. I suppose the pub at Cloghans is long gone now. I have to admit I only had a few good days on Conn in terms of catch, but it was always a pleasure to be out there....except when it blew up rough unexpectedly and you were on the wrong side of the lake. Then it could be interesting getting home for an inexperienced boat handler like me ! Great to see that catch and release has taken off, and I see reports on the IFI site of good numbers of smaller trout again, which must be encouraging for regular anglers there. I hope you can continue to post more like this from lovely Lough Conn. Thank you, Joe. Oh, and you are right about that quest for the perfect shade of golden olive. I was the same, though it was the bumble in my case when I fished there. The perfect shade of seal fur substitute was equally elusive, though I think Veniard came up with a pretty good effort to my eye, which served me well enough on Conn and Mask as well, the few times I fished that equally beautiful lake. Tight lines for the rest of the Mayfly and beyond.
Thanks for comment and watching, maybe we might have crossed paths back in the '90's as I always launch the boat at Cloughans , and yes the Lodge pub is still going strong, not as many anglers visiting now compared to years ago
Thanks for comment and watching, no I have maybe a short piece of 20lb stern monofilament attached to my flying with a 2mm tippet ring at the end and to that I have a level leader of 20 feet with 5 ft between my flies, my top dropper is always 10ft away from my fly line
