i think this lick has more potential if you double the first left hand rather than the second as the second left can then be put on other toms or cymbals rather than being confined to the snare drum. Nice lick, man!

His LF stops keeping time when he plays the fill, he "should" still keep time while playing the fill, that's the most important part when playing the fill is keeping time otherwise it's easier for the fill to fall apart or not he exact. I would advise that drummers learn to still keep time w/LF when learning & playing the fill so they have the option available to them. Hypothetically your soloing and your keeping time with the LF HH & then all of a sudden you want to turn this fill on, what do you do? Stop the HH? Play the fill w/o the HH? Stopping the HH would ruin the continuity of sound in this situation, so do you stop the groove b/c you can't keep time when playing this fill, no, you learn the fill with the extra dimension of coordination.
