Loius-Antoine Dornel è stato un organista e compositore francese dell'epoca barocca.
Nato a Béthemont-la-Forêt, vicino a Pontoise, nel 1685, sono scarse le notizie sul suo percorso formativo.
La prima menzione dell'attività organistica di Dornel ci giunge non appena è nominato titolare degli organi della chiesa di Sainte Madeleine en la Cité al posto di Rameau che aveva rinunciato alla nomina.
Nel 1709 pubblica la sua prima opera "Livre de symphonies contenant VI suites en trio avec une sonate en quatuor".
Nel 1716 Dornel lascia il posto a Sainte-Madeleine-en-la-Cité, per sostituire alla chiesa di Sainte-Geneviève l'organista André Raison.
Nel 1725 fu nominato maestro della musica del re per l'Académie française e l'Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres, e diversi suoi mottetti furono eseguiti al Concert Spirituel.
Nel 1748 diventa organista della chiesa di Saint-Germain-le-Viel, posto da cui da le dimissioni nel 1757, dopo di che si perdono le sue tracce.
Non si conosce la data esatta della morte di questo discreto organista la cui reputazione non poteva rivaleggiare con la notorietà degli illustri contemporanei, ma comunque capace di comporre musica interessante, e che non sfigura certamente nel panorama del Barocco Francese.

Louis-Antoine Dornel was a French organist and composer of the Baroque era.
Born in Béthemont-the-Forest, near Pontoise, in 1685, there is little news on his studies.
The first mention of Dornel's work comes to us as soon as he was appointed holder of the organs in the churchof Sainte Madeleine en la Cité instead of Rameau, who had renounced the appointment.
In 1709 publishes his first book "Livre de symphonies contenant VI suites en trio avec une sonate en quatuor".
In 1716 Dornel left Sainte-Madeleine-en-la-Cité, to replace the Sainte-Geneviève church organist André Raison.
In 1725 he was appointed Master of the King's music to the Académie Française and the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, and several of his motets were performed at the Concert Spirituel.
In 1748 he became organist of the church of Saint-Germain-le-Viel, place from which he resigned in 1757, after which you lose track of him.
You do not know the exact date of the death of this discrete organist, whose reputation could not rival the fame of illustrious contemporaries, but still able to compose interesting music, that certainly looks good in the French Baroque.
