The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I was 13 when this was on. I'm 80 now. Gary Cosby came in my dad's Standard Station and got gas with Bing Crosbys Standard Gas Card with Bings Car. He talked with my dad quite awhile. Dad brought the printed carbon he had to turn in to Standard oil to show us. WATTS STANDARD SERVICE IN OTTUMWA IOWA.

Gary was such an incredible talent. He had talent, charm and personality. So sad he took for granted all these amazing opportunities he had access to because of his father. He never learned to truly appreciate what he was given. Had he put in more self-motivated work and energy into it instead of aimlessly strolling from one incidental job to another, he could have really made it - despite the immense pressure and expectations that came from being the son of one of the most famous people in the world. Judging from the amends and confessions Gary made in his later life after publishing his (self-discredited) book, he admitted that he had terribly misinterpreted his father's attempts at helping him through his struggles. At the end, Gary admitted his faults, mistakes and guilt - which is quite honorable in that respect. May he rest in peace.

Poor kid, Louis’s career never did take off, lol! Mr. Armstrong was and still is a legend. My favorite song of his is “I Wonder.” That was such a cute and cool duet between him and Gary Crosby. Thanks so much for sharing. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Barbecue meant a little something else in the context of this song. Harlem Jive from the 20s and 30s. Barbecue was a fine, sexy lady.

Whoa! Gary Crosby could really sing! Too bad his dad, Bing, was so abusive and made his life so difficult. And Louis Armstrong -- what a legend!!❤

Debunked rubbish...Gary didn't even really write the book. Sad he tarnished his father's legacy...Bing arranged for Gary to tour with the gorgeous Mr Armstrong...imagine a once in a lifetime opportunity ruined by Gary's unprofessionalism.

Gary Crosby's life and the lives of his siblings, really too tragic & sad; I find this hard to watch, especially the beginning when Sullivan is needling Gary about his weight, which Bing also did. This is so for me regardless of the conclusions Giddens came to and of the opinions of those who can't handle the dissonance between their own views of Bing and Gary's memoir. But Gary did have a fabulous voice. To my ear it was even better than his father's.

What gives? Ed isn't any more fit than Crosby was here. I think he was rude.
@mitzymoo3151

You mean Gary's memoir that was pieced together because Gary admitted he couldn't remember writing large parts because of his drinking. Which was verified by the co-author when asked. If you can't remember writing your own book and had the book pieced together it doesn't bode well for the believability of said book. Bing was trying to protect Gary from the struggles that both he and his sister went through because of their weight..I've read Bing's sister was bullied because of this as a child and Bing stepped in to defend her. Ever stop to think that Gary was his own worst enemy???I mean when a horrendous story is traced back to Gary only to have him deny the whole story when reinterviewed it makes you question the accounts written. When said son admits to his stepsister that what was written wasn't really how it went down and the real reason why the book was made so salacious...then 🤷🤷🤷Seven children and only one, the eldest who was noted to have been adored by his father, given major opportunities by his father, was bailed out of trouble time and again by his father, was looked after financially by his father, had anything bad to say..whilst other children defended their father....what can you say🙄

@@mitzymoo3151 Two of Gary's siblings committed suicide. Probably just a cheap attempt to make Bing look bad.
